Yeah I guess it's all about creating the buzz now.
Is it just me, or are you also thinking of Christina's song each time you see the title 'I Am'? I wouldn't mind Céline covering this song for the documentary

I am temperamental and
I have imperfections and
I am emotional
I am unpredictable
I am naked
I am vulnerable
I am a woman
I am opening up to you
Love me or leave me
Just take it or leave it
It's not that I'm needy
Just need you to see me
Take me, free me, see through to the core of me
Take me, free me, there will be no more pretending
Rick, ik hou van jou voor altijd!

Yes, it's great news in every way. I think it's great that they didn't wait longer, because it can be difficult to have any clear and lasting results from treatment. This could be a multi-year battle with varying fortunes... Since she's now ready to talk about it publicly, it means a very important part of regaining control of her life, no matter what her future holds. It's also an important part of her therapy. We, on the other hand, will finally not be doomed to gossip, leaks and speculation, even if a happy ending is still uncertain. Even difficult words and images are better than the silence in which phantoms are born.
And then there are the patients themselves. Her public announcement of her diagnosis triggered a media tornado; a foundation dedicated to the disease reported that SPS visibility in the media increased by 28,000 percent. This video could be a huge step forward - in funding research and in getting SPS patients out of the terrible psychological isolation that is the fate of rare disease patients.
It sounds a bit funny, but I'm so proud of her…

There's a lot to unpack in that press release! Sadly no launch date yet, but obviously everything is ready to go, so I'd imagine it'll show up on Prime in the next few months, hopefully with a solid promotional push behind it.
I guess now we know that Céline's SPS diagnosis will form a core, if not the core, focus of the documentary. I hope there's still room in there for deeper analysis of her overall career and success, and that this hasn't become purely an SPS documentary - admirable though the desire to raise awareness may be. I do think Céline will be willing to show a lot, so unless she's had milder effects, we might be a bit shocked at how her SPS symptoms manifest.
Also nice to see a reference to "the road to resuming my performing career" in there. I'm not holding my breath for anything big any time soon, but there is now hope and intention behind her return. The reference to visiting the recording studio is a hopeful sign, too, unless it was for the recording of Love Again since that likely took place during the period the documentary was being filmed. Or maybe they're ready to launch a full-on blitz of a return with the documentary, a new album, and a tour/residency announcement. Hey, I can dream...
I did laugh at the "living an open and authentic life amidst illness" bit, though, given how silent everything's been since the original announcement.

Yeah the reference to visiting the recording studio can mean anything.
Let's just prepare it's for Love Again.
But yeah I too dream of a new album

This was filmed throughout 2023 - wasn't LA recorded prior to that?
Anyhow, I checked LV Review Journal to see if John Katsilometes has any more color and the answer is no: https://www.reviewjo...uggles-2990436/
"There has been no word on when or even if Dion will be able to return to the stage. Officials with AEG Presents, which books the Theater, has said only they are optimistic she can eventually perform."

I wonder when they really started recording this. And if her illness suddenly changed the whole concept.
"During this absence, I decided I wanted to document this part of my life, to try to raise awareness of this little-known condition, to help others who share this diagnosis.”

This is really going to move the needle for the SPS patient community in a big way, and likely for awareness of rare/ orphan diseases in general.
I think maybe the silence over the past year was part of wanting to address it all in a proper forum and with the depth and nuance it deserves, not in 30-sec social media posts. I respect that. I always felt Celine will talk about it all when she's ready. Well, it appears this is the vehicle she has chosen to do that.

Yes, absolutely.
In a way, it worked out perfectly that they already had a doc planned and with Irene on board. After all, she has made several films about disability, and ones that were very personal & about her own family.

Yes, Celine is nobly old-school when it comes to social media

And what a remarkable coincidence that it was Irene who was already on board at the time, when the film was still supposed to be simply about the career of a pop megastar!
We're probably not fully aware of it yet, but Celine's decision announced today - to go public with her struggle, despite the uncertain outcome - builds her lasting legend as someone much bigger than a pop star, however famous.

Does anyone know how Amazon goes about releasing this kind of content? Usually a certain day of week, how long does their post production on average take, etc? I wonder if this spring?

Unless she was performing at the Grammys which we know isn’t happening unfortunately.

This documentary focusing on SPS will help to fill the gap over the past few years, enabling fans to understand many unanswered questions, and allow them to feel close to her, as they have over her career. It fills that void.
I worry how distressing it may be for some, but I commend her for always being who she is for her fans who care so much for her, and other sufferers of this horrible condition.
As fans, we have felt that everything was over when in fact, she has been documenting her journey all this time. I can’t wait to see her and learn more about what’s going on. Imagine going through this and making the decision to allow her fans to see her journey.
For me, this is so much better than an overview of her career. This shows her career is ongoing, whereas, the career overview felt like an ending and celebration of what was.

I agree. With the original footprint being document her career… clearly that had to take a back seat when we got news of her SPS diagnosis. Irene, Celine and Sony made the right decision in my opinion to change paths and focus on this… there will always time to discuss her career from A-Z at a later more convenient time, however, finally they will address the enormous elephant in the room.
