Before I saw it, it showed on my home screen. But now I have seen it I have to search for it too. Guess it’s an algorithm…?

I would agree here, definitely algorithms at play as it appeared on my home screen until I watched it too and now it’s gone, except now I have the other music documentaries you might like and when searching through here, it shows with watch again.

The number of comments I've seen that go something like "I didn't know Celine Dion sings in French/ has 13 siblings / sang River Deep Mountain High" Posted Image
It's definitely reaching non-fans!

Question something been thinking about do we think why Pepe was always giving her a hand or helping her during the later years was because she was starting to become unsteady and not just him being a gentlemen?  Not saying he wasn't a gentlemen just something I started to wonder after her interviews about medicating and having the symptoms getting worse.

I doubt she would have taken up ballet if balance/mobility issues were already manifesting then and earlier.

I think she meant keeping RC grounded more so as an empathic, sympathetic, aware human being. She's never shied away from acknowledging that she has these luxuries (such as a butler), but she never wanted to allow the privileges her family has to stifle her kids from being humble, kind hearted people. You can be rich, and still in touch with reality.

Yep, I agree. I wasn't criticising or mocking. The contrasting image was just funny in a light-hearted way.

Honestly, she still seems to have great balance and flexibility. Some of those poses she’s doing in PT? I can’t do that! (At least not with nearly as much grace!)

Same here. It is strange that I always used the word ''stiff'' to describe the physical condition of my legs. At the gym, leg raises, squats, extensions - always a struggle. I do not use the word anymore as it reminds me of this horrible disease. But I do find it somewhat ironic that Celine who suffers from SPS is so much better at balance, flexibility, strength than I am. Clearly the hard work she put in the past is paying off.

But did she take up ballet to counteract the appearance of some of these issues? Maybe she thought by doing this like she is doing now will help to prevent or handle the symptoms.

I think this documentary can be released on iTunes/Apple TV+ because I just saw a movie under "new movies" on iTunes/Apple TV+ Store and it says Amazon Originals, it's a movie of Eddie Murphy called "Candy Cane Lane".

Edit:

I just saw this

I Am: Celine Dion - Apple TV

Apple TV aggregates your streaming subscriptions in one place making it easier to manage and discover new content based off your subscriptions. Apple TV+ is the content branch of that.

Sadly, it is just highlighting the doc on their platform but you still have to go on Amazon Prime to watch it.

I was just speculating in the context of the posted question if Pepe was already providing mobility assistance because there were  wobble issues as early as back then. I would understand taking up ballet exercises in the hopes of improving on-off non-debilitating muscle spasms (which she maybe mistook for regular cramping/tightness pre-diagnosis) but I can't see her engaging in dancing the way she did if she was already experiencing mobility issues to a degree she needed Pepe assisting... I don't know about y'all, but if I start needing to lean on someone to get from pt A to pt B, no matter how sporadic, barre work, stretches and pliés for exercise, sure, but dancing on my own (and on stage, even) and risking a bout of unsteadiness and a fall, nope... it doesn't make sense to me.... but who knows... From how I understand the timeline, I think the stability issues came in when she weaned off overmedication  and the symptoms manifested with a vengeance.

Ahh got it. Yeah that makes some sense was just something I wondered. Not sure if we will ever have a good timeframe of when certain symptoms started to appear guess in long run really does not matter just that now she seems to be controlling it the right way.

I was really struck by just how lonely Celine appeared in this documentary, I expect Irene was trying to convey this as even with family and a support network around you, a diagnosis is something you really have to deal with and come to terms with alone but this was one of the hardest aspects of the documentary for me.

I just feel that she truly needs someone in her life as she loves and gives so deeply, it’s who she is and clone she says she’s in love, she’ll always be in love with Rene, that goes without saying but unfortunately he’s no longer there to reciprocate that love and she really does need that, probably more so now than ever.  I just hope when she feels ready that she will open herself up to that possibility.

I watched the docu again today and I noticed something significant. The final scene where Celine suffers from the attack actually doesn't happen right after the recording session for Love Again as I assumed before. It only appears so because it was cut that way, but if you look closely, she wears different clothes in each of these settings. After the attack she says sth. along the lines of "did it happen because I was having so much fun over there?", and you can see the bowling area behind her. So I assume that they were bowling or doing something fun before the attack happened, but the docu doesn't show it. It was all cut and mixed in a very odd way.

Also, this docu doesn't give much details at all. You don't even see her house because everything is very focused on Celine and very often the background has this blurry effect, which looks nice, but hides all the details of her surroundings. That's a shame. The Oprah 2003 special was very short, but we got to see Celines entire house. I get the point though. The focus was on Celine and her condition, but it would still be nice to see a little bit more since we hand't had a proper docu since 3BAANS which was in 2010 or 2011.

I literally thought this but then came to the realization that she was wearing jeans and, for lack of a better word, a "dressed up" t-shirt. if I'm going to have physical therapy or massage, they will for sure ask me to change clothes to something more appropriate. In that next scene, she wears yoga leggings and a more breathable t-shirt.

So my assumption is, she changed right after the session to prepare for her physical therapy.

I've watched this way too many times lol. I love when she's talking about how she wanted to go out and have a good time but she's drinking water and sleeping instead. I think that's why Pepe was such a breath of fresh air to her. She wasn't afraid to live a little. That's the vibe I got from their relationship anyway.
I have had the time of my life following this woman!  Much love.

I agree, Celine is one very romantic woman. I just can't imagine her being single for rest of her life.

If you pay attention to the original day of recording the Love Again song when they leave the studio right out the door is a bowling alley. They are connected to each other. If Celine was bowling I think Irene would have captured it, she was definitely in the studio.

If I had to be honest, Celine saying "do you think that happened because I had fun" didn't seem natural and seemed like she was "verbalizing" for the camera. I know it sounds crazy to think that right after the attack, it's impossible Celine or Irene could already have pre-determined this but still I think the two scenes happened on different days.

Ahh yes, I get it now, yeah probably. I think there’s a certain timeframe after first run streaming, but it might also depend if there are other producers other than MGM Amazon involved along with what their distribution deal looks like.

I don’t know what metrics they will use to determine when that happens though. Will it be after streaming peaks? Will it be based on regional popularity?

But I do think it will be available to buy at some point especially since Céline is a bankable name and they will probably leverage as much sales as they can while tapping into other markets where Prime Video is less popular but demand is high for the doc

I think she honestly looked gutted initially when the realisation hit that the attack had likely happened after being overstimulated doing what she loves, she kinda stumbled back and sat down basically saying how am I going to do what I do so I’m not sure about it being dramatised.  That scene was one of the ones that struck me the most.  She also said in an interview that’s why she said to Irene not to keep asking if ok for cameras to be rolling or to follow her around as she said that would have lost the authenticity and encouraged her to dramatise things and Irene would have lost her from the project if she felt that was happening.

I honestly also don’t think this is a documentary for anyone, especially the fans to watch over and over again as I think watching it once serves its purpose.  I myself find it too upsetting and uncomfortable at times to sit through again, certainly anytime soon, purely because of how raw, unfiltered and emotional she is throughout which left me feeling so down for days afterwards.

I would think the more we watch it, the more we’re going to question the authenticity of it and surely it loses the intention of which it was made for. To let the fans in on where she was at, at that time. By watching it, we feel like we’ve been a part of that journey with her when she wasn’t able to be with us physically.  Perhaps that’s just me but I for one don’t want to keep rewatching her suffering.

And I think Celine saying "do you think that happened because I had fun over there"... was either "fed" to her by Irene or Celine was aware that it could make for a dramatic part so she thought of a "connecting" line that would make it easier for Irene to get that "effect." If I had to be honest, Celine saying "do you think that happened because I had fun" didn't seem natural and seemed like she was "verbalizing" for the camera. I know it sounds crazy to think that right after the attack, it's impossible Celine or Irene could already have pre-determined this but still I think the two scenes happened on different days.

This is such an offensive suggestion to all involved, especially given everything we know from both Celine and especially Irene about the making of this project and that particular event and how it unfolded.
No, it wasn't "fed" to her. No, it wasn't dramatized for cinematic effect.

Nice discussion on Slate (yes, with Carl Wilson, and others):

One of the panelists starts with an "I found her grating" attitude and ends with “my defenses against her collapsed completely, now I couldn’t be a bigger champion of Celine Dion.”
And that, frankly, is a sentiment I've been seeing all over social media when it comes to this project. What more could you ask for?
"The public's attitude towards her surely has to shift in the face of this documentary..."
It's fascinating how eventually she disarms everyone. Even the most cynical. That's the Power of Celine! Posted Image

Also, they talk a bit about the concept Irene has brought up in some of her interviews, how she truly thinks this can become Celine's "superpower" (in the same sense she things Beethoven's deafness was in a way a superpower of his, that he composed some of his best music then not in spite of his disability, but because of it). Interesting comparison to Callas in that exchange as well. And yeah, I'm both with Irene and the panelist here on that front, in that much as SPS is a handicap for Celine, artistically it can also be an opportunity. And with this doc, she's really setting the stage to seize on it.

Some of the clickbait is hilarious on YouTube. One such one was "Celine exposes all about Meghan in her doc" like come on, with what she's dealing with, do you think she has the time and care to address royal gossip nonsense

Truly. I just saw one titled "Furious Celine Dion Sends Harry In TEARS At NHL Awards As She Orders Security To Drag Him Off Stage" and, from same source, "Celine Dion Threaten To JAIL Harry After He Gatecrashed The 2024 NHL Awards & Appearing On The Stage".
The scary thing is, not only do people click on this delulu gibberish junk, they actually believe it.

Music wise, how do you think it’ll change? Will she completely go “Rock” now?

Not necessarily, but I see her doing in English what she has been doing in French for a long time, or as has been said about her work with JJG, how he taught her to "dechanter" (literally, "unsing"). The French work has always been more subtle, more connected to the lyrics than vocal gymnastics, and that's what I hope / expect to see more of. She's kind of laying the groundwork for that in the doc, and I for one am all for it. I personally was never really there for the big notes, and I don't think that many of us were (though she seems to have believed that to be the case.. hopefully she now knows that's not necessarily the case).

I don't like that they say she was just one dimensional before ugh just pisses me off and now maybe she will put more feeling into the songs when she has always put feeling into what she sings. That is why she is so beloved. All these now I love her testimonies are great but it annoys me as well for some reason, like they are all "look now I get it. ". What she had to lose her husband and brother, get SPS and possibly not be able to perform again for you to get it. So happy she is getting so much love but can't give props to these writers who dismissed her for so long and now get on the bandwagon.

Ugh Carl, I really don't like him, always seems to make it like Rene controlled every damn thing that she had no will or say, that to me is a total disservice to Celine. Or that all the fashion would not have been allowed if Rene was alive. The man did not pick her clothes for goodness sake. I hate when they make it seem he was this over bearing control freak and she was just some mousey woman who just followed orders. He even implies all the lying about being sick was more due to him when good portion of this was after he passed.

I’d be all for this However, I I do like The big high notes, but if a song is written properly, it doesn’t need them every time.
My only worries are that because her English material has a tendency not be as well written as her French material.  sometimes I feel as if the high notes/long notes are to compensate for the lack of song quality. So I think what needs to happen is they  that they really need to focus on the English song quality… if Celine isn’t ready to finally write her truth in her music now, I don’t think it’ll ever happen. So I hope she sits down and writes her feelings out.
