I do believe when she says this has been ongoing for 17 years though that it's more likely to have been spasms and smaller issues here and there that she can now pinpoint as early onset of the disease. I definitely don't believe she was over medicating and struggling throughout every other show for that length of time.

I think she probably only okay with it after we saw the scene of Celine doing things around the house when Mr Butler had covid.
Also, no worse than a pregnant Celine complaining she doesnt have a right part of shoes to wear as she goes though thousands of them in the closet LOL. and the end of the day shes not as relatable as she likes to think and thats normal.

I suppose the crucial thing is that Nelson the effectively shook his hand and thanked him. Do seem like very polite kids which maybe shouldn't be a surprise given who their parents are.

What I love about this scene is that as soon as Mr butler-Mr Barington I believe- gives Nelson the milkshake Celine immediately says in French'What do we say Nelson?'
She is such a mom, I love that.

I wouldve thought that was from the ballet, no? When she first took that up, she lost loads of weight then turned her body into muscle, which I assumed was just the process of doing a lot of physical training.
It blows my mind that she could do the ballet and be as flexible on stage as she always was, given what we now know.

Yeah, I cant quite reconcile that with what we now know of the illness.
But I dont think the weight loss was associated with the dancing. I believe its an SPS symptom. Tara Zier said when she got really hit with SPS she lost something like [30lbs in a couple weeks]. (Bracketed because I dont quite remember what the number and timeframe were, but point is it was a lot, very suddenly.)

There's a tree
Standing there
In such an ordinary way
But as I look around
Everything keeps changing
There's a leaf
On that tree
And it floats into a stream
Like everything
It gets carried away
To the sea
Ive always loved this song, a rarer gem if you will, so much so that Ive spoken in the past with my family about playing it at my funeral, as to me its about leaving a lasting legacy through the way we touch peoples lives while were here. Its taken on a whole new meaning for me now though 😢

I think the weight loss has two periods judging from pictures.
Period 1: the sudden weight loss where at times she looked skeletal. Maybe the sudden physical activity exerted SPS symptoms. I mean, if your working the muscles, your adding extra stress and damage in order to grow muscle and maybe with SPS, the muscle tissue was not repairing itself properly and needed extra calories to counter act the condition as well.
It was at this time the tabloids and social media was saying she was too thin.
Period 2: I think at some point, she might have gotten feedback, possibly changed her diet a bit maybe by adding more protein and calories because this was the time she started getting more muscley, especially when you saw her on tour with that main, red dress.
However with the added strain, maybe SPS symptoms got more active, and she needed more medication to perform at shows.
I cant verify the science in this, but it my mind, this could be plausible.

My dad had some health issues recently and getting a puppy was such a godsend. It's truly amazing how much it helped him, both mentally and physically.
Would be good for the twins, too.
She looks wonderful in her NHL appearance. I even thought, 'Célne? Repeating an outfit? (lgasp)!' lol as her outfit reminds me of
It make me laugh how many times I've come across the frequent reaction to her and RC's appearances going something like: "Is that Céline's new boyfriend?? Seems awfully young. That's her son?? He's 23 years old?? He looks way older than that... that's the little kid who once had the really long hair?? OMG I feel old."

With the possibility she can have an episode involving the wrong muscles (chest/neck) and for an unknown or extended amount of time that she can't breathe and die, I don't think any ethical, humane, and rational person on her team would allow a spasm attack to unfold or induce one for a chance to be captured on film. That would be psychopathic.
ryba, on 29 June 2024 - 09:59 AM, said:
Now my question is: did they already know that she would probably suffer from an attack because she would be overstimulated by a long recording session, so they decided to do physical therapy right after knowing that a crisis would occur and they would have to chance to film it for the documentary?
What are your thoughts on this? Because in my opinion, it is quite strange that they rented a place to record new music and at the same time do physical therapy right next to the studio in the same place. She could've done that at home as usual. Also, the conversation after the crisis when Celine is already OK seems a little bit prepared, don't you think?

Hm I don’t love that. Maybe Nelson would’ve thanked him even without Céline’s prompting. It wasn’t necessary for her to make it look like her 11-12 year old son needed her to tell him to be polite. It would’ve bothered me if I were him and they left that in the doc.

And the physical stuff she does during her therapy sessions that we see in the doc is also incredible. It requires so much strength, flexibility and balance. I for example, a perfectly fit man decades her junior, can’t do all of that, or at least not with as much ease as 56-year-old Céline with SPS. Unbelievable.

lolll ^
It also makes me laugh to think of that wistful reflection she shared (in the Oprah tour iirc?) that she often talked with her mother about how to keep RC grounded despite all the lavish things provided to him, and it's not like she can make him sleep in the drawer or wear tatty clothes like she/her siblings did... fast-forward to her big-bodied teens being waited on hand and foot by a butler with milkshakes lolll

I have a feeling he wouldn't have as per habit lol and Céline knew and would have been mortified to have that on record like any mom would have been lolll I also think that's a cute mama bear moment, not a serious bad look on the Nelson/kids, kids being 12yo kids. Now if she did that to RC... ohno... lmao

Still top movie on Amazon and one of the top streaming properties across platforms.
Still 100% on Rotten Tomatoes (and that from just 30 reviews, there's a bunch more positive ones not yet aggregated). 76 rating (100% positive reviews) on Metacritic, 8.2 on IMDB. On IG alone, 23mln views on the shoe clip.
She took a risk, and there's a cost to a woman in her 50s putting it all out there like this, especially in the pop music world so focused on youth and on meticulously managing an image. And it paid off. So good for her to have a win with this project, especially one that's clearly the most personal thing she ever released.

And if she was able to do it then, with all those wrong meds in her system, wouldn't she be in better position to do it now that she's under a correct treatment plan for her illness?
That, plus how is she able to handle crowds, lights, sounds? Judging by commentary from other SPS patients, this is what they're most perplexed by, because most are triggered by these things and could never go to a concert or sporting event. So it seems they're all wondering what it is she's doing.

Here's something I'm still struggling to understand: how was she able to perform at such a high level, up to spring 2020, if she was just masking symptoms with high doses of Valium & other (presumably inappropriate for the condition) meds? Physically, how was she able to put on such energetic shows? Even if they temporarily relieved her spasms and pain, wouldn't those dosages drain her and knock her out?
And if she was able to do it then, with all those wrong meds in her system, wouldn't she be in better position to do it now that she's under a correct treatment plan for her illness?

Weaning off the Valium gave her no defense against what we now know as SPS. I think shes doing much better than she was, even in 2020, but part of me thinks shes innately worried to get back out on stage. So I think shes just taking it slowly and getting out little by little to get her brain and nervous system back into the right mindset. She did so well at the premiere and she was amazing walking right through the sphere in her stilettos! Sure, it will be a reduced capacity of a show, but I have no doubt she will be back on stage sooner rather then later.
