Wow. That was an incredible watch. She is so open. I feel like we’re watching a therapy session… Think we learned more from this than any other interview.

Very interesting to hear her speak about why she chose Irene. I also wonder who the other directors are that she interviewed.

I wish we knew what kind of vocal work she’s doing. Did anyone catch the name of the coach?

And who is this Joyce she’s mentioning in the same breath as John Nelson? I assume she was the woman who posed briefly with Celine last Mon?

When she said, “I can be onstage”, she said that with a lot of conviction. “It’s not false hope anymore. I gave my all but I don’t think I’m done, I’m not ready to let you go.” Ugh, Celine, my heart. Posted Image

I loved this! Just let Celine talk!

I'm a little stunned by how much we're suddenly finding out, including from these interviews with Irene. After 4+ years of silence and speculation... this is just so much to process.

Here's another great one, from Variety: https://variety.com/...iew-1236048365/

“I did not know she was sick yet, but I could see that there was something in her that just really felt misunderstood. Lots of public figures feel like they’re misunderstood, that people don’t know them, but with her, I really felt it.  I really was like, “Huh. There is something going on here.” And lo and behold, after I said, okay, I’m gonna take the leap — and she said the same thing about me — I basically said yes and she said yes.
[…]
And then the first day filming with Celine, she just firehosed so much that was inside of her, including so many things that eventually I realized are extraneous and not important. What is important, and this was the clear thing, is that she has been lying and she feels so guilty that she managed to cover it up.
Because she could prop herself up. She was very healthy; she takes very good care of herself. But she finally got to a point where her body was just breaking apart. You know, she couldn’t withstand the amount of pharmaceutical drugs she was taking just to function. She couldn’t stand it anymore.
That first day was the first really extraordinary moment in our filming.
[…]
There was a lot of palpable loneliness. There was palpable suffering that I was witnessing that was very evident.
[…]
I don’t think I can speak to Celine’s end game, because that would suggest a very calculated plan on her part. I think that she wanted to be heard. I’m not sure she really just wanted people to really believe that she was sick and understand that she was sick, or if it was that this was the only way she knew to tell people, “I actually haven’t been truthful.”
[…]
You know, she’s a deeply moral person, and I think she had a discomfort with that part of her that wasn’t being as true as she wants to be.
[…]
“I think I want to let Celine chime in on this soundscape that we’re creating, because she’s tried to describe with me to me what it feels like when she’s having this episode.” She always used to describe it like, “It’s like an electrical storm inside my head.”
[…]
I think Maria Callas has always been a vocal mentor for Celine, and Celine talked to me a lot about Maria Callas’ life. We didn’t include that in the film, but I think she found courage in the way Maria Callas moved through the world, in spite of some of the ways people spoke about her when she was living during that time. And so I know that she is really an inspiration to Celine."

It’s a Tuesday and I’m a crazy fan but still haven’t watched it yet… so imagine all the others who haven’t got to it yet.. it’ll catch steam. I’ll be watching here shortly when I get home.
I know a few friends watched it this morning, a few others are going to be watching later this week because of a busy week.  Myself, I had hoped to watch it this evening but I am beyond tired and can’t concentrate on anything so it’ll have to wait until tomorrow, unfortunately.

And more, this time from Irene's interview with New York Times: https://www.nytimes....n-syndrome.html
It's behind a paywall & I'll post the full thing later, but for now:

“I felt like I had to take that access with tenderness, dignity and class. There’s a lot that the camera does not see. If there was a little bit of tension or discomfort, I would back off. That’s partly what built trust over time, that she gave me everything but I didn’t take it.
[…]
I showed her the film a second time. She said, “I’m going to let the younger boys watch the movie with me, and I’m going to walk them through the film, and I’m going to let them understand what happens to my body.”
If I could have filmed that scene, that would have been the quintessential Celine. Celine, the mother. Celine, the woman who is suffering. Celine, the woman who is trying to learn something and teach something out of her own suffering to her children.
She was holding their hands and they did not seem visibly upset watching. I think it was because their mother was saying, “It’s OK, it’s just the disease. This is just what happens.”

In this brilliant interview her new manager(s) are John and Joyce… I’m
Guessing that lady is Joyce that she took a pic with outside her NYC movie premiere.

This must be Joyce

She also confirms she’s already working on her new show.

Yeah I won’t be watching it until Thursday at the earliest… I’ve been out with family all day and got a 2 hour drive home tonight so I’ll be exhausted. I’d rather wait so I can put my full interest into this film!!

Wow that was hard to watch. It's incredibly sad to see her go through all of this.

A lot has already been said but the most moving moments for me were right after ‘that’ intense scene, when she sang "Who I Am." Despite everything, her entire being is immersed in the song, reminiscent of her powerful performances on stage. The rawness of her singing without makeup, in a basement, right after an attack, yet still giving a glimpse of the incredible performer she once was, is  striking.

Another moment was when she said, "I think I was great." "I think?" That’s the understatement of the century, make that two centuries.

This documentary was heartbreaking, beautiful and inspiring.

When I watched all of the interviews she did a few weeks ago, I didn't expect it to hit me the way it did, but I could not stop crying. I think it finally sunk in how much she's suffered, and what this condition really meant. I knew it was bad, I just didn't know it was that bad, and that she's tried her best to deal with it not knowing what it is as it's gotten progressively worse. It's answered a lot of questions, but it breaks my heart to think of all she's had to go through.

Being a Celine fan for most of my life, it feels like she's almost like a part of me, so the scene with her seizure is probably the most painful thing I've ever had to watch. I almost can't think about it. I'm just really thankful for her team, her doctors and everyone taking care of her. Clearly she is doing much better now, and I hope the worst of it is behind her.

I understand why Celine would be scared to be this vulnerable with us, but we are not going anywhere. If anything, we love her more. I have so much respect and admiration for her courage to be honest and share this with us.

Hope Dave Platel is gone for good. Never liked him to begin with, but the interactions he had with Céline in the doc felt really insincere. A great contrast with all the other people that surround her (who seem like genuinely nice people).

I just watched it for the second time and I'm sorry I don't see how she can even entertain the thought of putting on a show. If I were in her shoes I'd be always apprehensive about having a crisis and not be able to relax and enjoy the performance.  To me, SPS, it's like a tiger ready to spring on you from ANY corner.  It's like I'm going to tease you with a little tightness occasionally and then let nothing happen for a while then, BAM!, crisis. Just my thoughts. However she does say what's going to happen if it happens. So, yes, what would be the plan?

After the second view I didn't find the Farnam section too bad. She likes him and was part of a tribute so why not I guess.

I really enjoyed her take on "rock" singers, I always felt she wanted to be free and not soooo disciplined. I'm glad that she was though. I've always thought she would have wanted a little pop-ier, edgier repertoire.

The recording section was hard. I think she gets into her own head and wants to sound like "Celine Dion". She's never been boastful verbally so I really liked the part when she says she was very good.

Did expect more of RC and Rene though, their minute screen time made me a bit sad.

I just wached it and im in shock!
Those crisis moments were so strong!

Generaly is a well made documentary, yes with some things that could not included but its ok!

The 2 things i wanted to be in are 1. the videos from 2008 that she is with doctors and tell them about her spasms etc just to give a full perspective of the time & begin of it etc and 2. i would like to see some footages of how she is working her voice through this.

After seeing this in London last week, I never thought I would have been as emotional the 2nd time around at home in front of family but… my teenage son was both shocked and intrigued by my response to the seizure moment as I usually soldier on.

But she deserves all the love, awards
and much much more for this honest and brave doc.

I watched it, the last 15 min were hard to watch, I don't want her to perform just to go backstage and have one of those episodes,  it's heartbreaking to say the least.

On a different note, Celine: the vacuum cleaner can't go from the floor to the couch right away that is just not sanitary and the dog food cannot go on the same table where the coffee goes.

I love that she fostered rats or is it mice or hamsters,  they looked like mice to me. I would never do that but props to her.

The poor dog looked overweight,  it's sad he is gone too

I watched it, the last 15 min were hard to watch, I don't want her to perform just to go backstage and have one of those episodes,  it's heartbreaking to say the least.

On a different note, Celine: the vacuum cleaner can't go from the floor to the couch right away that is just not sanitary and the dog food cannot go on the same table where the coffee goes.

I love that she fostered rats or is it mice or hamsters,  they looked like mice to me. I would never do that but props to her.

The poor dog looked overweight,  it's sad he is gone too

I think the dog was symbolic of something in this movie. It was easy to poke fun at but then you realize he played a role in Celine’s life (and yet another loss she had to deal with).

Your comments about sanitation just validate how human she is

Oh plus a lot of Maria Callas! I wonder (hope & dream) if they are hints that she is/will be working on the film about her!
When she started the ballet dancing i was thinking that maybei she did it for the movie. Like to be more dramatic. And she was using a lot of operatic voice in different cases.
