I think their successes are unrelated. Looking at Mariah's career on its own right, then her relationship with Tommy and subsequent divorce impacted her commercial success and decline, respectively. There is no denying that. She was robbed at the Grammy awards mid-90s, Daydream should have won like 2 or 3. There were also artistic differences between them, as Tommy was a lot more conservative, AC pop oriented.

Celine, on the other hand, slowly but steadily won the world over. First English Canada, then U.S, then Europe and Japan. Her album sales were progressing. So by mid 90s she was about to enjoy the fruits of her hard work. It was a very natural evolution. With BATB she proved to be a reliable singer for Soundtracks, with the TCOML she proved to be a force to be reckoned with. So it makes sense to me that after the massive success of TLYM in Japan and D'Eux in Europe her label would invest so much on her. But again, this had nothing to do with Mariah IMO. I mean, in 1996 she did not even release an album.

It also seems very reasonable to me that Celine took over eventually. I think she has the better voice, far more memorable, and she would do 15xTimes the touring Mariah did which meant that world actually got to know her better. She also focused on quality AC pop, all Mariah's releases between 1997-2004 are like average (Butterfly, Rainbow) to bad (Glitter, Charm bracelet) for me. Even Butterfly that is viewed as her finest work has some amazing songs and others I find pretty bad and tuneless. 😁

We cannot compare Celine and Mariah, they are totally different
Celine is a performer and Mariah a studio artist.

Celine loves to deliver songs and Mariah loves to be involved in her music, from A to Z.

That doesn’t take credit neither to Celine neither to Mariah, cause they are totally different.


Celine is an album artist while Mariah is a single artist

Despite all the unofficial original mhwgo music videos outthere, it's not bad, but yeah I think the competition is really heavy. They all should be blocked and the views should count to Celines video

It took longer to reach a million views than I anticipated - but I’m just relieved to finally have an official MHWGO music video uploaded to her YouTube channel after all these years. It’ll keep growing and growing.

If her team would actually release more of the concert footage from previous tours, or maybe even more music videos of certain songs, if they exist, it would benefit them in the long run, and that channel would get a lot more views and support. Doesn’t a to love you more official video exist out there somewhere?

I think that video was made for the japanese TV only, to promote the soundtrack...

Ah ok thanks makes sense. I guess they always film concerts for the the big screens on the venue and they might as well record it when their at it so to speak. And you never know when or if they might get use of it for promos or something. This gets me thinking of all Celine's older concert if anyone had some inside contact or whatever to get hold of recordings from say LTAL tour and such in good or decent quality.

If the official "My Heart Will Go On" music video was released on Celine's YouTube 12+ years ago, it would very likely have over 1 billion views, just like Whitney's "IWALY".
