Even in 2020 there was stock footage of crowds attending a concert lol. They could have filmed Sam & Pri  rocking out together and placed them in front of the stock footage. Even if Céline didn’t reshoot a scene to acknowledge them, it would have tied the movie together better than the “lockdown” style videos at the end. Oh well, I wasn’t an executive producer and there’s nothing that can be done about it at this point. 🙃

Hopefully the film gets a boost from their appearances and theaters add more dates. Last week, I noticed that only the local AMC theater had showtimes posted in advance, and many smaller branches added showtimes midweek (I want to say Wednesday?). So the best we can do is keep talking up the movie to our friends and make repeated viewings if possible!

The synopsis for this was silly, but it's a romcom, and I had faith that Jim Strouse could do something worthwhile with it; his other films have been solid. The trailer was a cheese-fest so I had armed myself to prepare for that. But still, it was just too much. The entire thing felt like a forced Celine product placement.
It had some fine moments and some genuinely fun lines, but at other times it left me wondering how much of this was Jim's original script versus re-writes by some Sony committee. Parts of the script were just so clunky and forced.
Priyanka was a good fit, and played Mira as warm, vulnerable and real. Sam I've never seen in anything before but it's pretty clear he was there for the hunk factor, not his acting - I guess he appeals for the same demographic of women that Sony thinks overlaps with Celine fandom. Russell Tovey was the highlight for me, and Sofia Barclay, too. The Celine scenes largely made me cringe, sorry to say. Not just the delivery, but the script.
I was OK with the overall contrived premise - the reassigned number and the light-stalking vibe, as I didn't find that too far fetched (from some personal experience...) but they really lost me at the sudden "Celine's a fan of Mira's caterpillar books and won't Mira please design her tour poster" turn. Giant eye roll at that.
And overall, the scenes that were intended to be touching just.. weren't. I'd say there were about 10 people in the theatre, and we all laughed... though not at the intended moments, sadly. I overheard a "I thought Celine DIon was dead" comment..
Perhaps this mess could have been somewhat saved with a better leading man and some changes to the script. Having seen the German original, the Hollywood version felt stilted and forced by comparison. It's a good premise for a romcom, but the execution was just so lacking.

I appreciated the Orpheus and Eurydice references, which felt like a crazy coincidence because I had just seen Hadestown on Wed (which is why I could only stop by the LA premiere for 5min). (And Hadestown happens to be the Orpheus and Eurydice story.)

I'll just go and watch Des fleurs sur la neige now, to cleanse my palette!

But anyway, it was cool to see my apartment building in the trailer and my neighborhood in one of the scenes. (In fact, saw it in a theatre in that neighborhood, about a block from where the scene was shot, and about a 5min walk from the hotel where Celine stayed in March'20 when she did her Barclays concerts & hotel fashion shows.)

Are you totally sure the film is leaving cinemas this week? Most cinemas don’t publish more than one week in advance. No cinemas around me have listings beyond this Thursday. I think they update tonight.

No its just not going to be available this weekend Only , IT WILL BE BACK  again  week after Mom's day,
which kinda makes since  everyone will be taking there Mom out to dinner  or so, Nobody will be at  the Movie theater

Last time I seen a movie at the cinema three times is with 3 different girls in the one week when I see Coyote Ugly when I was 19 lol. Ahhhh memories

So you only saw TTEOTW just once?  

I traveled to Manchester for that and fans were there with their merchandise on.  One guy was head to toe. Memories.

She recorded/re-recorded a few songs for TTEOTW/Taking Chances World Tour DVD, in the studio and that version of TSMGO was recorded especially for the credits of TTEOTW.

I haven’t heard it since, but I remember hearing it during the end credits in the cinema and I was in amazement…. It’s a crime that when Celine released it as single after Rene passed that they gave us that terrible version that they did. It may be one of her worst studio recordings of all time, even the live in Vegas version is far superior than what they gave us.

The Vegas version is my favorite. I’ll never understand why they didn’t keep the TTEOTW version on the DVD credits.

That never made much sense to me, especially because Celine went into the studio to record it especially for the cinematic release. Only thing I can think of is that Celine didn’t like the version and they decided to scrap it later for the dvd, but if that’s the case I don’t know how she would like the version they ultimately released. It’s a great song but I’m not joking it’s probably her worst studio recording vocally, of her career.

I don’t even think the version that was released as the single was a studio take. It sounds like it was taken from a not so great live vocal, and laid over the studio track.

Yeah! I remember also the TSMGO being played at the end credits in TTEOTW but I saw it on HBO. So, they’re showing the theatrical version because it’s only an hout not 3 hours. At first, I thought it’s the live version with longer intro for the end credits.
