What a disappointing "first movie" move.  If only she was the lead.

Why do people keep calling it “Céline’s movie debut”?! It’s only a tiny appearance that she’s going to make, the same way she used to do from time to time in the 90s. Only now, with social media and the evolution of the internet, it’s way more publicized (and dramatized).

To put it into perspective, according to Team Céline, SSDA album trivia is more important than this. That says it all.

I'm still gonna hold out a little hope because this hollywood version is inspired by the German film, not an exact remake. The synopsis of the original movie doesn't even mention the singer but in this adaptation they do, her music is a plot point.
She'll also get to speak instead of just a random musical scene. Like, I never expected her to have that much screentime.

Because Deadline broke the news in that way. The cast has talked about working with Celine as if she's a full blown cast member. And one of the producers is hyped about working with Celine. We are assuming it's one scene because of the original, and it might just be one scene but having one scene that is influential to the plot is not the same as a cameo.

Deadline also then released a video where they mention something about Celine's deal not being finished. Perhaps legally TC can't make any announcements until Celine has signed. If it's not this then even a simple cameo should at least get a like from TC, but we know how lame her sm handlers are.

Still amazed that people had such high hopes for a leading role, while it was obvious from the start its just a cameo.

Like I said earlier, it's just to make headlines they announced Céline with the other 2 actors. She is way more interesting.

If it's Celine's music, how can she play another singer?  I see a full Celine soundtrack for this movie... and I guess the song Courage could be part of it too.
Could the soundtrack be "Courage 2" with all the songs that Celine said she would love to release?

That would be a good idea. I don't know if they mean, the music of Celine, or the music of Celine's character. We'll find out!

They could bring on someone talented to write a soundtrack for the movie. Or just introduce some new songs with Celine's old ones.

Anyone ever seen “I Heart Huckabees”? Shania Twain has a 30 sec. cameo in the film, but really it’s much more than that. I don’t even want to post the clip.. Because there was such a buildup to her appearance (in several other scenes with the lead cast members), that viewing her cameo alone doesn’t do it justice.

That’s kind of what I’m imagining in this film, as a bare minimum.. or best case scenario, she gets even more acting scenes than that! But guess what: we won’t know for another 2 years, so let’s just chill out and wait for it

It's bulls**t. In France, they wrote "son vrai premier role" (her first time as the main actress) but they should rather write "son premier vrai role" (her first time as more than a cameo) which is not the same. It's misleading.
If I understood well, she's not the lead actress and she's playing the role of herself.

I read the same things...so hen this cameo stuff came out my heart sunk. This will be corny as hell.  I know that many people here are starving for her to do anything but if it’s not something of quality I am not interested to have her legacy tarnished.

I am not criticizing the news in itself. I am very happy that Céline is in a movie. I am criticizing the way the media are talking about it, once again overselling something regarding Céline.
For example, last week, she tweeted a video with Goldman. And some websites titled "Céline IS working with Goldman" as if she was working right now with Goldman and you had to read the article to read "she is working with Goldman in the video that dates back to 1997 as you can see, blah blah blah..."

For me, Céline is such a legend that she could act in a dozen of bad films and her legend would not be tarnished in any way. Elvis acted in many films which were not good and he's still considered a legend.

Agreed. The synopsis is nauseating. Judging by the brief description, not something I would ever waste time on, if not for curiosity around her involvement.
Much more interested in seeing Aline.

btw the articles didn't mention if this is just a cameo or more than that, also does it mean Celine will be herself? or play as another famous singer?? and got more appearance in the movie?

I hope this is a start to make more movies. I think this is a good start than suddenly having the lead role (we don’t want to have a Mariah debacle back in 2001 for doing the lead role). It builds up her acting skills. Start at supporting roles then to bigger roles.

I honestly don’t care if it’s lead, supporting or cameo. There are Oscar categories for all three.

I could see this being either campy fun or a complete cringe fest. It really depends on the execution.
Aline as a concept sounded terrible, but now I'm actually interested in seeing it. So you never really know in advance.

Sometimes I wish they'd just spring things on us unexpectedly, because I'm already dreading the months of members complaining about something they haven't seen yet.. 😩
