It was said that she would HOST the celebration and I'm sure that she will be there. The question is how big her role as a host will be.

This event sounds like a memorial type of thing, like they have for big stars in Hollywood. Everyone who knew/worked with the person in life tells funny stories or comments the person made, or charity work they did. Several speakers recite stories that are supposed to be uplifting in a setting befitting that person's life. Hence a celebration. They have big events like this for movie moguls or stars/big producers. He was a big music producer after all, so I'm not really surprised by the celebration.

I just don't know why they couldn't just do all that at the funeral and be done with it. Celine has been through so much. It's hard to move on when she keeps going to do all these depressing things centered around Rene's death. Rene's memorial, then his funeral and now a celebration of life.
This is a nice thing to do to pay respect to a great man, don't get me wrong, but this just feels so drawn out. I just want this funeral stuff to be over with so that I don't have to think about it anymore and try to move on.
I don't know about anyone else, but I can't deal with this stuff. Whenever someone in my family passes away, I hate it when it's a long drawn out process. I just like to get it over with as quickly as possible because, for me that is when I start to begin to heal. I think it's incredibly hard to heal and try to move past something when it's constantly in your face.
These kinds of things are very sad and it just keeps me in that same sad mind frame when it's one, after the other, after the other type of procedure. I know this is Rene's wishes of what he truly wanted so I respect that. I know it will be an amazing and emotional tribute to the incredible man that Rene Angelil was!

Does anyone of you have an idea how to reach out to them to let them know that fans all over the world would love to participate in it?
I've only come up with an idea to write to The Colosseum on their facebook. Please like my question/comment/ask the same question under the announcement!

I agree with you completely. Everything has been said and done. He got a state funeral and it was already very heavy for her and her family. It is time to grieve now, it takes time to heal. But with this ceremony...yes i think it is too much.

A celebration of life is very different from a funeral, and it's definitely not just for famous Hollywood types. I've been to two celebrations of life in the last couple of years - most recently, a tribute to a beloved former high school teacher where the school community wanted to do something to honor him. At a funeral, it's a somber, sad religious ceremony with the casket there -- all about saying goodbye. A celebration of life is meant to be a lighter, more uplifting ceremony -- not a group of people staring somberly at the casket and crying, but about truly celebrating the person's life.
At the celebration of life I went to for my former teacher, they had a million speakers -- everyone from current students to people who'd graduated 25 years ago to other teachers -- talking about the impact of that person's life. They charged admission and made it into a scholarship fundraiser. They unveiled a plaque they'd made honoring him to go outside his classroom. The school choir sang several uplifting songs. The teacher had been part of a band and the band members performed several songs -- and the teacher's son took his father's place in the band, so it was very meaningful.
A celebration of life is emotional and can be sad but also uplifting -- it's about life, not death -- and it doesn't surprise me at all that Celine and Rene wanted one.

Tributes, memorials etc are something where people are there to smile, laugh, yes cry at times, but to be positive and say thank you for being in my life etc.
They can help you move on and celebrate that person's life. It's not like a funeral, or depressing etc. It's a positive thing.

Yes I agree on the above two posts. Went to a celebration of life this summer and they served all of his favorite foods. His family got up and told hilarious and happy memories/stories. They showed lots of pictures. It was sad that he was gone but overall a celebration of everything that was him.

"I know what love is" would be a tear fest. Those words have new meaning now.
" I will fall, you will catch me always, straight up to my hearts highest wish, I feel YOU close to me and I know what love is"
But I don't think Cèline will sing, but who knows.

This song is just about my favourite song of hers, so so beautiful.

Wonder if they'll be any details released tomorrow about this?
I asked The Colosseum on fb if it was going to be streamed online. Doubt I'll hear from them though. Really hope we can watch it though. Especially as we shared the funeral etc.

Me too, it is my favourite album. Love all her albums though, but if i reaaaly had to choose my best, then it is "One Heart" that just slips to the top.

"One Heart" is a great album! It has some real gems on it. Plus, it took far more risks than "Taking Chances" did.
I agree. But what I really loved about that album was Celine used her voice in such a pure and beautiful way! The notes in "Naked" are in the style of Mariah Carey but she "out-Mariah Carried" Mariah Carey if that makes sense lol. "Stand By Your Side" is a simple yet beautiful song. I could keep going but I think people get the point. Still can't say it's my favorite album because I also adore "Falling Into You" album and the "A New Day Has Come" album but it defiantly is one of my favorites and scored WAAAAY ahead of " Taking Chances" album which is easily my least favorite English album after Miracle.!
