I like Pardonner ce Retard however I don't think she would ever sing it live  and Je Reste La.

I'm finding this harder then I thought. Maybe because it isn't her voice??

I voted for "Et pourtant", it's so subtle and captivating. I'd like it more if it had a stronger ending. If only I knew what the lyrics are about.

Overall, it's the best song from the pool of mostly average compositions.

I totally agree, there's like only half a dozen songs that I like from the choice of 25 And Et Pourtant is my favourite....

it's kind of eye opening that some fans of celine are not liking the pretty ballads and choosing a uptempo song that isn't really that uptempo or that great in my opinion but each to their own I guess.

It's a shame there's not any kind of dance anthems listed, I was amazed at Celine's rifting the other day to my heart will go on in the Steve akoi video

The backing track sound very amateurish but I like the english chorus and the singer is somehow talented. I cannot see Céline in it however.

Au-delà du miroir - Olivier Corbet 3/5
The songwriter gets my kudos here. The song structure and chord progression is very good. The ending somehow ruins it.

Faudra faire mieux - Jocelyn Bigras 3/5
If you can see behind the irritating voice of the singer and the dated production I can see Céline singing it. It reminds me of some soundtrack.

Dis-moi quelque chose - Berny Bérubé 3/5
I can somehow see this as a Retiens-Moi Part II with them reworking and tweaking it little bit.

On a beau dire - Jocelyn Bigras 3/5
The style is mellow and mature here but I really don’t want that from Céline right now.

Dans ta chaleur - Nini Marcelle 2/5
After listening to it I immediately thought about JNVOP. Don’t know why, but this somehow made it worse.

The song could easily be an album closer and a beautiful one at that. I just found it to be nothing groundbreaking.

The song sounds very celineish to me and I like it. Though I’d like her to go for a more current sound.

I could not finish the song. I’ll try another day. Maybe another voice would make me like the song more.

Ta vie - Danielle Arsenault & Paul Sarrasin 4/5
I really like the production and structure here. The songwriter really put some effort into it. Nice midtempo suitable for Céline.

Que vaut ma vie - Christine Tosolini 4/5
This  song sounds very promising and with the right production it could be a solid 5/5 song. Well done.

Je reste là - Dominique Bouffard 2/5
The beginning is quite good but after that it goes downhill. The chorus is lacking on so many levels.

Nothing special about it except maybe that the producer had the  idea to NOT use a piano for a change

I don’t want to be rude, but it sounds horrible to me. They would need to make so many changes that it would hardly be the same song.

Pardonner ce retard - Natacha Gaileen 3/5
The song is interesting. I get a strong 80’s vibe from it and that is not at all what I think Céline should do right now.

J'écrirai - Mikaël Benzekri 3/5
Nice piano ballad with a beautiful melody. It is little predictable but they could work with material like this.

I liked it immediately. The verses are very strong and Céline would shine in the song. The chorus is little weak though.

A pleasant song but there’s really no particular reason to record this over any other song from the list.

Beautiful piano ballad. I can picture Céline liking it and would not mind it on the album. Celine already has plenty of this stuff unfortunately.

Some kind of elevator background music. It really goes nowhere  and  though it it somehow pleasant, I cannot see it being recorded.

The song is gorgeous. Nice delivery from the demo singer. I could see this being a Breakaway-case, in that Céline could not add anything new to this.

It may be the voice of the demo singer that’s bothering me but the song doesn’t give me anything. The structure is nice though.

The song structure is beautifully crafted and I could easily see it in the tracklist. It is of course a filler track and no single material.

Overall I am really sad that they chose these very safe songs out of the thousand and not dare something for once. Anyway I voted for "Et pourtant" today, because I really like it. I know it is a typical Céline ballad ...

agreed, I guess that with a little makeover the song might become one of the standout tracks from the new album (if it gets selected of course).

I'm on the second round of listening and I'm really trying to hear if these songs can also translate well live onstage.  Some of them could work great as a studio creation, but I want a song that can also be performed amazingly grand live, too.

I only picked uptempo one cos I've only heard 6 so far. I figure by the final week or so of voting I'll know my overall favourite and will be voting for that one. May not be the one I picked today.

I like the song selection. It's not great though. I am surprised that with so many song choices that were submitted, these 25 are what we have to choose from. I have heard better. I don't mean to be rude, but most of these songs don't stand out to me. Out of all the 25 songs I only like 3 of them.

I hope that at least one of my favorites gets picked. Maybe I would like some of the songs more if I heard Celine singing them. I don't know, I'm just not feeling most of them. I hate to say that, maybe it's because I don't speak the language. I think I would connect with these songs better if I knew what they meant. LOL.

You've got to remember though guys these songs aren't intended to be the lead single or to showcase the album.  Celine will have the "high standard" songs from her usual songwriters for most of the album.  This is being seen as a unique opportunity for an unknown songwriter to work with Celine and have the track included on the album almost as a "bonus track."  Don't be expecting JJG standard of songs.

Round 3 has concluded.  I kicked off "J'aurais voulu te dire" because I love the demo so much as it is.  It's one of those cases where I don't want Celine touching the song because I love the original demo so much.  (I felt the same way about "A Song For You.")  I also kicked off "Faudra faire mieux" because I just know we'd end up getting Nelson & Eddy and/or R.C. singing at the end of the song.  I absolutely cringe when artists include their kids on their professional recordings.  (I felt the same way about Tim McGraw's "Last Dollar (Fly Away).")

So, that leaves me with 6 demos to choose from:

I found all of the songs to be very interesting and captivating. I just don't think those songs necessarily fit Celine's style and status, unless her actual style is changing. I frankly would not be surprised if she didn't want to pick up ANY of them
The only two songs that kind of clicked, were J'ecrirai and Je te donnerai tout
The first one reminds me of Lara Fabian's early hits but I can definitely see Celine singing it
The second one has a Les jours comme ca sound to it, which is one of my favorite songs on Sans attendre

Round 4 done on my end.  This time, I kicked off "Pardonner ce retard" due to the annoying ticking clock at the beginning and end.  The more I listened to it, the more it sounded like a tacky and cheap ripoff of Madonna's "Hung Up."  I also kicked off "Je reste la."  Its chorus is catchy, but the out of place and annoying falsetto vocals got old really fast for me.

So, that leaves the following:

Been listening to Celine for many years and especially i dont speak french but the way Celine sings French just make me feel that i understand the song completely despite the fact that i dont know the languague.

to show respect and appreciation to all entries submission i took a listen to all shortlisted 25 songs again and again and surprisingly "Comment Savoir" got lots of attention from friends over here. To be really honest, i cant feel Celine on this song at all. who know there will be surprise if this song got chosen and recorded by Celine and she will take it to another level?

But, after few round of listening there is only 1 song that caught my attention - Et pourtant (Marie- Claude Petit) even round of round of listening. Yes, the song is very slow and some might even called lullaby-like (which most fans incl myself dont really like Celine recording song in this genre) But, i would have to say the i can only feel Celine singing this song and the chorus that build up at the end was magnificent and it would be great if on repetition to build up the hype instead of to end so soon.

If this song was to fit into the upcoming french album, i guess i will say it should be on the last track. The reason is like after listening to all the great songs from the album it ended up with this song which slow and cool down but promising chorus in the end, just like we will never get enough and wanting more and more but suddenly it stop there leaving an full stop that signifying yes 2016 french album ended but is not over, there will be more recording in future.....stay tuned......love this type of feeling........

Even if at last this song doesn't get chosen and recorded by Celine herself, i would still need to credit mention to Marie-Claude Petit and this song will surely becoming one of my favorite in my French list.

Round 5 done and "Je commence a m'y faire" is gone.  I saw it being such a beautiful moment for the album and for the stage, but the more I listened to it, the more it sounded like a leftover from "Sans attendre."  If I wanted a song like that, I'd just listen to "Sans attendre."  However, I won't be upset if it wins.  It's a beautiful piece.

So, my Top 3 are as follows:

Thank you for choosing that song. It has to be Comment Savior guys. This song has Celine written all over it. I hope this song wins!

If this one doesn't win, I want Frere et soeur de son to win. It's a little repetitive, but I could picture it fitting Celine's voice very well. It kind of reminds me of A Cause. Just the style. I know it's two completely different songs, but the edgy, uptempo feeling is similar and I feel like Celine can really rock out to it onstage.

My top favorites are "Ta vie," "Comment savoir," "Que vaut ma vie," "Ne laisse pas le temps," "Je veux te dire," and "Je te donnerai tout." My absolute favorite would have to be "Ta vie" - I have no idea what the lyrics are about, but just listening to the melody, I feel like it's hopeful, but at the same time, there's a slight sense of having to give something up. Might just be me analyzing way too much about something I don't know.
