I can assume I know what everyone else knows but just to throw it out there, this likely means she has cancelled her contract all the way to 2017 right? Very very sad. Keeping positive thoughts for the entire family.

I would guess that Caesars/AEG were made aware of this possibility, but for right now, I am going to speculate that the contract is still very much intact from April, 2015 onward.

Devestating news today and as heartbroken as I am over now going to Vegas and not seeing her , I'm more heartbroken for her and what she is dealing with right now. A cancelled concert is nothing in comparison to that.
This is the right thing for her family right now and one of the things always loved about her is how she puts family first.
I wish Rene the best with his recovery , I'm praying for him , for Celine & their children.
I hope she knows we are all here for her and if she chooses to come back we will all be here waiting!!
I hope she feels the love around the world for her and her beautiful family today.

I am devastated and heartbroken for the whole family. Now my next question is assuming she needs to stay away longer then till 2015 I wonder if and when she comes will it be the same show or completely new show. if it's a totally new show I wonder if due to the circumstances and such they may put together a fast dvd of whatever footage they have up until this point of the show for the fans who were supposed to go but in the end could not due to all this. Anyways I cannot believe what is happening I am hoping it is not where my mind is heading but I am bracing for the worst at this point. I will continue to pray for the whole family.

I hope they put together a DVD! This could bridge the gap we'll have to see when and if she comes back.

Apparently the contract was ended at Caesars. The next step I assume is that she would perform in different cities once every thing gets better. Similar to Billy Joel.

Yeah, the wikipedia page said the residency ended July 29th. But it's wikipedia.

Ah ok. I hope she comes back there... I really wanted to see her. I saw her in 09... But it's a wonderful experience to see her, so I wanted to again!!

I saw her in 2011 the show was amazing it was my first Celine concert. I wanted to go back and see the changes that were apparently supposed to eventually come.

I asked Caesars on twitter we'll see what they say if they know anything at the moment. Perhaps they do but can't say incase things change idk. I might ask Martin as well if I don't get much of an answer from Caesars

I heard she or her management never actually put to paper a signature on a new contract.  Aldo was going to be working on that.  Rene had verbally agreed/told people she was to stay until 2019 but nothing was signed.  Don't know how true that is.

Well that's interesting because did Rene ever truly answer the question when he was asked about the length? The press asked him several times. (English press anyways)
Someone did the math in the "Celine puts showbiz on hold" topic and worked out 70 shows for 3 years is 210 shows. I found that interesting! That was the stated amount of the original planned shows in 2010.

Yes, that is what Aldo said in his first, or one of his first, interviews as her manager. That the 2019 extension was his first priority at the time. So, there wasn't an official extension past 2017, at least as of a few months ago.  And, given the 210 shows requirement of her initial contract, and that was fulfilled as of her last show on July 29th, it would seem the only breach would have been a breach of the 2 year extension to 2017.

This may all sound random, but honestly, it makes me feel much better about how she suddenly stopped her shows with show 210. This break appears to have been thought out a bit more than we first thought, and to me, that's a positive thing.

Edit:  I could be wrong about the 2017 extension. I thought I heard it existed, but no I am not sure. Maybe the only extension discussion was out to 2019. In which case, stopping at show 210 would mean her contract was fulfilled.

It mentions Aldo's 2019 priority at the time, but he also said something about that in one of his first interviews. So, I do believe you are correct, nothing was signed yet for 2019. It would seem her doing the 210 shows fulfilled the initial contract, and only left her with breaching the short extension (which I would believe had some provisions in place regarding if the parties wanted to terminate the contract).

Odd to you, and a a little odd to me too.  But, if you read her official biography, the break in 1999 was told to her band in a similar fashion. There were rumors it might happen, but when wasn't revealed until it was upon them more or less. So, odd, but not shocking--her biographer said that she and Rene liked to keep it a secret. This would be consistent with Denise Bombardier's blog post as well, about keeping things close between the two of them and then only telling very few others.  Given how quick little things have leaked, and the access people have to her band, they probably couldn't announce it super far in advance if they wanted to control the story. By being able to control the story, they had more control of the entire situation. So, I could see them keeping this close, given how things might have been construed if it was all leaked.


All I am saying is that to me at least it seems there was a plan more than we realized at first, or at least this was well thought out.
