The only thing that worries me about Vegas is RC's schooling. They moved to Vegas after the Oprah taping on February 16th, so from then up to April 17th, RC missed at least 37 days of school (taking into consideration spring break). Now he has a week off for Easter, before returning to school as normal in Florida next week. Luckily, Celine's next leg of concerts starts on June 7th, which is just after RC finishes school for the summer holidays.  But 37 days off school so far is a heck of a lot, and I highly doubt he spends the entire day on skype 'attending' his classes.

Now that Celine is spending 5 years in Vegas, RC will be 15 when Celine finishes, meaning he will have to change schools during the Vegas run as he will have finished 8th grade at his current school. I worry his disrupted education will affect his ability to perform well in his important exams that he will be taking in high school. Maybe towards the end of the run RC will be old enough to stay in Florida while Celine goes to Vegas.

Maybe I'm just too academically minded, I guess RC will always have a good career cos of his parent's fame and fortune...

Is just me or someone else think that all this "skype" thing with RC was a story to try to give his life some air of *normality* when we know its probably a mess?

You know, since the beggining the kid was a "night bird" and both his parents were proud of that, he was up when everyone was sleeping... now who believes the story of the skype thing? Is RC going to spend all her mum's vacations attending a teacher via webcam, for some days off that Céline has to enjoy with him? I don't think so :whistling:

maybe he also gets homeschooled in Vegas...

This show is open for more song changes IMO! With AND they had to think of the dancers, with this show it's so much easier to change songs, and I hope they will!!

Not right now, but in a year's time! :P

another run ok but extending? that will end her career forever. unfortunately.
and prolonging so soon? right at the beginning? nonsense

Stop being such a baby: Her career will be finished forever? If you say so... What would be your definition of a successful career?

There might be some advantages and disadvantages of this planned extension, but summarising the whole thing like you did is just over-simplistic, over-dramatic and pointless.

Céline in Vegas = $$$$$.  It's no longer about being an artist. She's sold out to be the Anglophone star.  Ever since AND I denied that fact, but I can't deny it anymore.  She's got the talent, there's no doubt, but it's aimed in the wrong direction.

I know I'm repeating myself, but I can't help it as the same nonsense comes up over and over again:

You say it's all about money, instead of being an artist - which somehow implies that Celine is a kind of a traitor of the purity of arts. But if we look at the music scene in general, why don't you share a list of those singers who are not paid for what they are doing. Your argument goes like this: Somebody is paid for something and hence this person only does it for the money. This might be true of a person who has to do a job that she or he doesn't like to pay the bills, but how can you say with such certainty that this applies to a multi-millionaire like Celine who has wanted to be an entertainer since her childhood.

I'll give you the answer: You can't know this, none of us can. Your point may be right, it may be wrong - but you can't be sure. Therefore, you could stop pretending otherwise to keep some credibilty.

With regards to the "selling out" point: What are the signs of being a "sell-out", in your opinion?

René seemed quite serious about it yesterday in the Journal de Montréal. It seemed like we might hear something soon...

I don't think that 5 years in Vegas means that Celine is ignoring the artist in her. The show is very artistic and I can fully understand her being happy to do a variation of this show for a long time, she's clearly singing the songs she wants to sing, and there is endless changes ghost can eventually be incorporated to keepbit fresh for her whilst maintaining the integrity of the show. We always knew that a five year run was highly likely. Celine clearly finds this the perfect way to juggle her career and her family. As long as she continues to have gaps between shows for doing other things then I don't have a problem. I would like to see a variation of this show tour the great theatres of Europe eventually though, the Olympia, the Palladium etc. But yet again, we have news of the two albums coming out possibly this year. She's still maintaining her career, just not in the way that some people would like. But she's earned the right to manage her career her way.

On a sidenote I would like to hear Alone, but I'm Alive? No.

I agree.  And I don't see how it's such a terrible thing for her to be performing in Vegas for five years and putting out two new albums vs. taking a break.  This seems like the perfect balance for what she needs and many fans want right now :)

YES, I agree.  It's what is best for her family not necessarily the fans.  They know the fans will follow whether it's a world tour or Vegas - English album or French Album.   People here tend to forget her main reasons for going to Vegas in the first place....she wanted a big show that would stablize her life so she didn't have to live in hotels, a place where she could raise her children and have some type of normalcy for them.  That is what Vegas gives her and they are paying her a ton of money to do it.  Some fans may not like it, some fans may still think she can release single after single and have top 5 hits but she doesn't care about that - her family comes first.

It is what it is folks...so stop the complaining, this is her path and if you are a true fan then support her.

yay!!!! I think she has so much freedom with this new show that it will change and change from year to year. It's so perfect for them all right now. She can be with her babies and little James Bond and Rene and can still perform for us and do what she LOVES, onstage, for as many or as little shows per year as she wants. It's just the right amount for her to continue loving doing it, and she can do whatever she wants now in the shows, she's Mrs. Las Vegas! And that's not a bad thing! That's INCREDIBLE! Sinatra, Elvis, Céline.... we have a living legend here- she can do other projects and continue to perform onstage doing her thing. Perfect! The babies are little anyway. They'll be 5 at the end of this contract, just old enough to go to school and will need less care and attention. She needs the stability now. She loves this and she's trying to please EVERYONE when she could just hang up the high heels and microphone and quit but she won't do that! let's be happy that we have 2 more years of chances to visit Celine in concert :)

I looked on RC's school website just to see if Celine's schedule really was fitting with his school holidays. :thumbsup2:   It seems pretty clear that RC is with the rest of the family in Vegas when Celine is doing her shows. I don't think Celine has ever spent any more than a couple of days without seeing him, so it's highly unlikely he'd be allowed to stay in Florida without her.

I know it's not any of our concern, but you have to think what sort of long term effect this disrupted schedule is going having on the poor kid, moving back and forth between Florida & Vegas. It was bad enough him being home schooled in Vegas during AND, especially when they actually lived there permanently and could have easily got him into a normal school to give him a more normal life and have friends.  In my opinion it wasn't until he started school in Florida in 2009 when RC became what I call a 'normal' 8 year old. The change in his character was enormous.  Before then, during Vegas and the tour, he was a shy little boy, constantly surrounded by adults and not anyone his own age. I'm thankful Celine & Rene decided to send him to a proper school, but I worry that taking him away from it for several weeks/months each year may not be the best idea. I'm sure he'd much rather stay in Florida where his friends are, rather than sitting in a hotel on a laptop every day having 'lessons via skype'.

I'm sorry, but the kid never had a shot of having a "normal school career."  If he had gone to public or even private school, he'd still be dealing with those who only want to be friends with him because of who his parents are and what connections they have.  He'd have to deal with the mocking of being the son of the "Titanic" lady.  Even at a young age children know a lot and can be cruel.  Plus, when he was younger he wanted to have his hair long.  We all saw how mean the media was about that.  They called him a girl, they called him a freak, etc.  Heck, even some "fans" on here went so low as to mock the kid.  So, if those who aren't even around him personally are belittling him, God only knows how bad it would have been in a public or private school.  I really think in this case home schooling was the best option.  It allowed his parents and guardians to help try influence his life in a positive manner by surrounding him with the positive, but also keeping him grounded with the negative as well.

That's my two cents.

Also, we don't now what R.C.s School schedule is like.  I'm pretty sure Celine, and Rene, now what they are doing Parenting, and school wise.

-Well, I think the show is amazing and I will have more time to save and be able to see it if they do it for 2 more years, but I don't think she's gonna sing the exact same songs for the 5 years (if they decide to stay). It wasn't the same songlist for AND for the 5 years, so there are no reasons to think that in this case is gonna be different. And we don't really know if they are talking about making the same show for 2 more years or staying for 2 more years doing a different show.
-Yes, they deserve a break, but we don't know if they're gonna have it and we don't really know (if they sign for 2 more years) how the shows are gonna scheduled or how many shows she's gonna perform a year, so, let's not speak about things we don't really know about.
-Yes, she's gonna be 48 but that doesn't mean that she's not gonna be able to tour again. You people love to compare Celine with Madonna, Cher, etc. They are far older than 48 and still touring, so there's no reason to think that Celine will not be able to do it as well.
-This will kill her career?? I just can say HAHAHAHAHA to this... Sorry, but I really can't believe somebody can say that.
-Rene is gonna be to old?? That's true, and maybe one of the true reasons why we might be worried about, his health. But I do think they are aware of that, and they're not gonna take any decision with out having that on mind.
-RC school schedule?? Don't know if you read or heard Celine's interviews, but she timed her schedule in Vegas with RC's holidays from school.
-It's all about money and not being an artist? Well, do you work for free?? Does any singer that you know work for free? The answer is... NO !!!

I'm not saying that we don't have the right to have our own opinions. We do. But we seriously need to stop thinking on ourselves and start thinking that whatever our opinions might be, they are just opinions. If they want to stay in Vegas and not to tour anymore, yes, it would be a shame cause many of us would not be able to see her. But it's their decision, and it must be respected. :thumbsup2:  :flowers:

Merci Céline pour ces deux soirées inoubliables que j'ai passées à tes côtés. Je ne les oublierais jamais.
J't'adore Céline.

According to Robin Leach's post today, it says Celine is there for 5 years. So I guess it is official, all though seeing a press release from Caesar's would be nice.

Question...If someone posts a question on the colosseum facebook page do you think they'd answer it? I don't have facebook. But I was thinking if someone would post the question about if it is indeed a fact that she is extending her contract, if they would confirm.

He said it won't be "official" prob until June when they come back and discuss it first with their band and crew so that they can look for houses there if they want. But it's "official" in every other sense of the word- they're doing it but won't say it until later

Am I the only one who feels extending it another two years is too early?  Celine has only been back to work for two months!  It just seems to me it would make more sense to wait until year two to sign on for two more years. Now Celine is locked into a 5 year contract - maybe she would feel fulfilled after her initial three year contract.  Just my opinion.
