Javito, for my own records, could you please post the catalogue numbers of these special Japanese editions of ANDHC, ATW and Complete Best?? I may be looking for them soon when we buy a BD player so you could help me a lot!

I own some Japanese XRCD compilations of great female vocals (including my beloved Eva Cassidy) and the quality is really great! They can be played in regular CD players and if you have a good hi-fi equipment and/or hi-end earphones, the sound is stunning.
I can only imagine how those SACDs/Blu-Specs would sound like!
And I wish so much to get some with Céline music!

I only have the japanese ANDHC SACD, not the All The Way or Complete Best Japanese ANDHC is EIGP 3

I'm a huge fan of Japanese editions! They are always so neatly made and the sound quality, even on regular CDs, is usually somekind better than on European or US releases.
I only have to watch out when buying older Japanese releases (hence not from HMV.co.jp or such), because there are really a lot of fakes, usually made in other Asian countries and the quality is far not that good on these, the package is usually much poorer too...

You're sooo right! Japanese editions are always better than the US/European ones! I don't know about the quality of the sound (on a regular CD I mean), but concerning the booklets and the pictures they're always so much better! Just look at the Taking Chances and ANDHC collectors edition digipaks, they're bigger, with bonus tracks and protective sleeves!

And the TCWT DVD? They released it in a DVD case, as it deserves (contrary to the ordinary US/EU editions )

"Taking Chances" CD package is actually only shlightly better than European version but sill better. And it incudes 2 bonus songs of which one is still unreleased elsewhere. And yeah, those plastic protecting sleeves are very nice, I always keep my Japanese CDs in these.
I got lucky enough to got my Japanese "Taking Chances" CD signed by Céline, even with my name (similair as the postcard on my siggy) so the plastic sleeve came even more handy here - not only to protect the CD but also the autograph, hihi!

By the way, I don't know if you have it but if not, I deffinitely recommend you to buy Japanese "Taking Chances Ultimate Box" (2 CDs + 3 DVDs)!! It's very beautiful and the content of the discs is even greater!
Unfortunately it's out of print for a long time now, they produced a litmited number of these boxes in 2007 and by mid 2008 they were all sold out, at least in all Japanese online stores that ship overseas. So nowadays there's only eBay or Amazon Marketplace but it's deffinitely worth the purchase!

I know! It's a great boxset! I was cheated with a fake copie in eBay the past year (as many of us here I think ) but now I've ordered one at Amazon a week ago. I carefully checked it was a complete original one (I made the seller take several photos to check all the details) Can't wait to get it (hopefully original this time!)

Oh, that's pretty awful you've got cheated on that, yikes!!
What were the differences on the fake copy? Was it the one with less discs? I've heard about it and saw it on an online auction site (not eBay), guess it was made in Taiwan.
The "real thing" looks like a fat book (a Bible or a dictionary), it's about the width of 3 regular DVD boxes set next to each other but it slightly higher than a DVD box.

No no, it looks exactly the same size than the original, and it includes the same discs, but there are several small differences in the fake copie that can go easily unnoticed (the pattern of the cover design, the size and font of the title in the edge, the disposition of the discs, the (cheap!) quality of the booklet (that's perhaps the most evident difference )...

I can't wait to have a proper SACD player, can't believe I have had an ANDHC SACD copie for 9 years and still haven't looked for a SACD player .

Oh my, now you made me concerned about the box.... I have bought my second-hand as well so it's also possible that it would be fake although it looks really great... It even has a Japanese-speaking sticker on the plastic protecting sleeve listing all the discs...
Does your fake copy got such sticker as well??
Do you have the link to that special thread? Is it somewhere in the "Collector's Area"?

Hmmm Now I'm not sure what that video is showing At first I thought it was really the SACD extract that was synchronized with the IA videoclip, but its true that the beggining sounds like the Humberto Gatica Mix (or IA video too)

However, if you listen closely, it does't sound exactly like the Humberto Gatica Mix either, it has different nuances. So I don't really know what they guy did with the sound, if its really the SACD or not

Hello!

I have both SACD's of Celines albums - the songs are completely new - for example, The Power of Love is more like the live version at the beginning (added timpani's(?)) and mixed slightly at the end. The reverb on her voice is a lot less than the original version.

They are basically 'updated' and they do give a fresh sound to them.

I was disappointed with I'm Alive as although it's a mixture of the HG mix and the wake up mix, there are a few instruments missing and it just sounds a bit flat.

Don't know if they are 'mistakes' but there is a drum missing on BYLM (when she sing's 'you were always there for me...'), and also the centre speaker on TLYM is a little messed up - halfway through the whole instrumental kicks in, then stops randomly!

There is a slightly different arrangement on IYA, and TFTEISYF is much better then the standard cd version.

Also, i'm actually sure IWCT has a proper ending on the SACD version.

It's deffo worth a listen as instruments have been added and taken away Also different vocals on BATB ( I think - haven't listened to it for a long time)

Javito, I looked up the Japanese SACD for "ANDHC" and now I'm quite confused. You said your SACD is a Collector's Edition one?! That is, with 2 discs (CD+DVD)? Cause that's what I understood, I have this edition as regular CD, don't remember if I bought mine in Poland or from the US but it's deffinitely not a SACD.

In a Japanese store they have this double disc edition as Japanese edition but it's not a SACD. The catalogue number for that is EICP 929. And than, yes, they also sell a SACD for this album with the same catalogue number you gave me (EIGP 3) but it's listed as one-disc album only!

Could you please clarify me on that? I know you've posted photos of it above but my eyes are very bad and I can't rely on photos.

No no no, I just talked about the japanese ANDHC Collector's Edition released in 2008 (same as the US/EU versions that include a CD and a DVD). Never said it was a double SACD!

By the way, I found the Japanese SACD for "All The Way... A Decade Of Song". The catalogue number is ESGA 504 but unfortunatelly it seems to be out of print and the copies you can find at secon-hand sellers cost way over 100 euros...

They should just sell better versions of the CDs! Or at least when they put them on itunes, have better versions.
Also, like Davey said, don't confuse the album versions of songs with Humberto Gatica mixes, and also, with I'm Alive, the separate International Mix (which if I remember correctly is different than the Humberto Gatica mix).

Aww, that would be great to get these Japanese SACDs for "All The Way..."!!
But they are all out of print and searching for them on eBay means huge risk when I just think of pretty well-made fakes of the Ultimate Box which are hard to detect, especially before you can hold it in your hands...

There's also Japanese a limited edition of "A New Day Has Come" collector's edition. It has been issued in 2008 and it says that the sound is remastered and that it features 5.1. sound. Unfortunately the description doesn't state clear whether the 5.1 sound appeals to the CD or only to the DVD...
This edition is still available in Japanese online shop.

The sound its also said to be remastered both in the US/European versions (all them says that because the release is the same for every country!). Though I don't think there's any difference for a disc released in 2002 (is there something to remaster, seriously? ). That's a joke. It's the same with the "remastered" collector's edition of TAST

The 5.1 sound is only for the ANDHC videoclip of course. Again nothing new with that (we already had that in 2002 DVD single!). If you want the full album with 5.1 multichannel sound you have to get the SACD version. So all this about the sound was just a rip-off

But is there any difference between the 3 editions? Yes, I told you: the japanese version has a bigger size for the package (you can see it in the photo), and personally that enhances the artwork of this album a lot
Also, the quality of the printing is better in the japanese version, and there is a separate booklet with lyrics in japanese as usual

Regular edition and SACD have the same booklet (same content as the standard US/European 2002 booklets), but the collectors edition has the same booklet as the US/European ones obviously. They're just accompanied by another booklet with japanese lyrics. That's all!
