I wonder how much influence a star's personality has on the sales.
When I like the music, I buy the album, whether I like the artist's personality or not.

I'm no expert and I'm in no position to act like one, but Christina has never been the American sweetheart, right?

I know these are only opinions (expressed usually by her fans, by the way) but these might as well have affected the sales of “Lotus” (not to mention the lack of promotion on her part and a rather cool reception of the lead single).
It’s a shame because with that voice, she should be topping the charts all over the world.

Yes ,amazing voice but a bad repertoire maybe bad manager or team, somewhere there is a problem

I wouldn't say her repertoire is bad. I really wonder what the problem is. Maybe it has something to do with how much people like her personality. But...I don't know what they don't like about her.

I'm not fond of her personality, but I did buy the album.

I've never been a great fan of hers, but still I gotta admit she's got huge vocal talent. Her interpretation of "Lift me up" from "the Hope for Haiti Now telethon" is pure perfection.
I wish Celine had more songs like this in her latest repertoire.

^^^
Also, I think that she's got the voice fitting perfectly the power ballads she often releases on her albums, like "You lost me" or "Bound to you". Her talent really shines while she's singing them.

From Billboard.com:
Christina Aguilera nabs her eighth Dance/Club Play Songs No. 1 with "Let There Be Love." It's her second leader from her album "Lotus," following "Your Body," which reigned in December. She joined Pitbull last night at the Billboard Music Awards as they performed their Dance/Electronic Songs No. 1 "Feel This Moment."
I agree with you, David. I'd love more Linda Perry collaborations. I was thinking about that yesterday.

She's got an amazing voice and can't believe she hasn't had more success ... not even being on The Voice has helped her ... I love her when she does her power ballads ... she is amazing ... let's see what happens next for her ...

I think so ... she'll be performing with Pitbull this coming week on The Voice if I am not mistaken and then nothing else ... until she is back on The Voice as coach this fall again ...

I've read at ukmix.com (in the Lotus thread) that the way the general public perceives Aguilera is rather mostly not so positive (I wanted to write 'negative', but that would be an overstatement) and that she is not a particularly approachable / likeable person.

in this age where music can be found free on the internet, fanbase is very important; so the last thing a public figure like Christina should be doing is act pompuos!!! acting diva-ish is part of their appeal; but when it goes as far as dissing other artists, it becomes distasteful. Christina is a Disney alumni & a lota Britney fans were Christina fans too. being a big voiced singer who obviously sounded a LOT like Whitney, Mariah & Celine, a lota Mariah Carey fans were Christina fans too. but Christina just couldnt help herself from running her mouth, bein a lil' too honest & diss Britney (several times) & Mariah!! since then, fans of either artists parted ways and it showed in Christina's sales. "Back to Basics", her last hit album shouldve sold a lot more than it did. since then she's never been able to recover. also, Christina's been disrespectful to quite a lota artists ...Lady Gaga, Mary J Blige, Beyonce...

I'm so in love with this song. It's her best in a long time IMO.
She's an artist whose voice would blend amazingly with Celine.

I knew you would say that, dear.
I once read that Diane Warren had written a song called "I See Castles" that she said it was one of the best she had written and she was hoping for the right moment to give it to someone and make a huge smash out of it. But it was a long time ago and as far as I know we haven't seen the damn castles.
