Because she was there for 5 years, 700 shows. Why do people want to see the same singer in a show of hundreds date at the same place again?

That's because the person it's addressed too, does the very same.. This isn't the 90's anymore, this isn't Celine from the 90's anymore and some people tend to forget that. And yes, some people would go mad if she wouldn't sing those songs. Those songs *are* Céline for most people (sans the fans). It's already happening with this tour (and with every other one); why doesn't she sing "If You Asked Me To", why doesn't she sing "Beauty And The Beast", etc. The most familiar songs tend to be the hit singles, the songs we love that she doesn't sing anymore (or less), but you've seen the reaction of those songs during concerts.. those songs people come for.

And what I said earlier, I totally agree to freshen up the songs.. but most of the times, this is the conductor's task (look how the French songs were composed for Sur Les Plaines, it got a different conductor and it suddenly sounds fresh and different again, even if there were only minor changes). Perhaps in Céline's case, it's also hers & René's choice.. Céline feels comfortable singing her songs the way they should be sung, the "normal" way. Maybe after this tour, after what they did with "I'm Alive" (which got a good response), they dare to change more. I'm also a fan of The Corrs, and although they're not as long in the business as Céline is, they also have the same hits they perform at every concerts, although being musicians theirselves, the songs sound different each tour.. there's a guitar solo added, it's done acoustically, there's drums instead of piano, etc. And yeah Céline should do that too.. so ask Mego or René that next time..

Although it's painful, that's the way it indeed works. I was so sad that I still didn't get to see "On Ne Change Pas" live, because they axed that too and I don't know if it was because of the poor reaction, because from what I saw, the reaction was good and Céline was performing it magically.. They perform the songs, people love, songs that either did good in the charts or has the best response.. or *fits* in the the show. I remember with Shania, at first she didn't at some songs because they thought it would slow the up-tempo pace of the show down.. later on, they (perhaps because of various requests or curiousity) did perform a great song.. but it indeed slowed the show down, so they axed it again after 1 gig.

I think she does, otherwise she wouldn't have chosen for it. It's sort of a comfort zone. She has new songs to sing, but then she has those classics she can hold on too, which gives her a nice balance. And she's said at a couple of times, some songs she has to perform everytime, because the (general) audience, expect her to.... and they certainly do.

That's just funny, because we fans indeed think that way... but as "My Love" has shown...apparently everyone else (besides the fans), doesn't. Anyway, I would love to see Céline back in Vegas. And like what will happen, just for about 75 shows a year. Which gives her at one hand stability and on the other plenty of time to do other stuff (family, recording, giving shows, holiday, etc.). The one thing I hope for, instead of making a new "show", I want this to more of a concert. So like Cher is doing now and Bette Midler... make it more of a Céline show, instead of trying making it a show with Céline and her songs in it. More the concert type, less the show side. Make it "looser", less demanding and 'on-schedule' like 'A New Day...'.

Again....! I have two simple questions to ask:

1) Why are you all so sure that Las Vegas has to happen again??? Why it has to happen? Because she has to have a place to raise the second baby?

Well, then I ask: [

why she has to do a 3-5 year contract stuck in a place, singing every month, to raise a children? Why she can't have a baby and see him/her grow while she's calm in one of her houses in Canada, USA or Europe, and recording/promoting an album? (Like she did in 2002!!?). Because, isn't that what she has done during the 5 years of Las Vegas (well, we can say she did some kind of a "promotion" for some albums, but they had some promo at least!).

She can have more than that without being tied up to one place and singing every week!!, and then she could spend much more time with her family than doing that crazy show, while she records and promotes her music in a better way than what she's done with One Heart album, 1F&4T, and D'elles.

During 5 years she has released 5 albums, but all of them sacrified because of her lack of time. Without Vegas, that wouldn't have happened at all

So, why so many people here can't accept the formula of recording albums + doing some promo for them but NOT to see her in Vegas again, which means to see her almost in jail, stuck in that place where she can't do anything else because she can't escape?

and 2) If something like A New Day... has to happen again (much to my regret), why she has to do it in Las Vegas again?. You are so obssesed with that place, aren't you? Céline should know that there exists more world than Vegas for doing concerts.

Well at the end the (main) reason is simple.....$$$$
But also, because she wants to, because performing is what she loves to do. She like she wanted to do a World Tour, immediately after Vegas and not have a break first (which we wouldn't've mind at all). But it was her choice.. she couldn't step down, she couldn't slow down, she didn't want to. And now she wants to have the best of both worlds again, performing AND [at the same time] raising another kid. And for the fans.... it's also a kind of stability, it's fixed. We know where she is (24/7), we know we can see her anytime we want & can (instead of wondering where she is now and can only see her when she's in the neighbourhood). It's really like a pilgrimage. You get to know the place, the people, you meet new fans and friends or see old ones. It's really a fantastic experience.

And well...Vegas... I can only say this: you actually have to have visited Las Vegas and see the place yourself to feel the magic (some people don't like it at all, but most love it).

Unfortunatley I never got the chance to see her in Vegas, but I would like it if she could go there and perform a couple more shows...it's up to Celine what she does and as her fans we should support her 110%.

The reason it has to be Vegas is because Vegas is known as an entertainment hot spot.  Tons of people travel there constantly to gamble.  Most of those people then go to see a show.  Vegas has TONS of them on offer.  Celine is a top entertainer and many people who aren't big time fans will still buy a ticket because they're in Vegas and she's there.  Also, they learned that the fans have no trouble going there to see her - many of them did, many  MANY times as can be witnessed on the special features of A New Day...

It wouldn't make sense for her to try and do 5 years in Paris or New York (I love the girl but she'd be laughed out of NYC if she tried to do a show here for any length of time).  I don't know for sure that she's going to do Vegas again but it certainly makes sense for her.  She's in one place for a fixed point of time.  Plus, from all the interviews I've heard her give, the girl clearly LOVES Vegas.  It's such a Celine city - crazy!!!!

Being someone who's never visited or lived in NY can you please expand on why you believe she would be "laughed out of NYC if she tried to do a show [there] for any length of time?"  Thanks.

I personally love Vegas. Last time i was there i saw Celine, Toni Braxton, and Mamma Mia. 3 quite different shows. That's what poeple go to Vegas for - shopping, gambling, and entertainment.
Celine still has her home there - maybe she wants to have the same main home for baby 2 as Rene-Charles? Who knows what the plans would be for a new show in LV??? We can only wait and see - about any plans for the future. Maybe Celine will retire, go into acting, record a new album or 2, record and do a new mini show in LV - or somewhere else. Who knows???? As long as she's happy with whatever she's doing, then so am i. Remember she didn't want to do the AND show after Rene-Charles was born, but couldn't get out of it. Maybe she'll wait and see before making any major decisions.
Why don't we all just let her have her break she so desperately needs and hope she becomes a mother again - and keep our fingers crossed that she at least plans to do SOMETHING!! That's all i want. Couldn't imagine the entertainment world without Celine in it.

As opposed as I am to the return to Vegas, just because of the whole repitition thing- i.e big farewell then return to one of a kind theatrical innovation (isn't that what it was?), I would be excited to see what the new show would be like. They would defo try to top AND- it would have to be different- and the millions of people who came to see her from across the world will lap it up and surely travel again to see this 'never before experienced' new Celine show. I'd just be interested to see the playlist.

One thing I will say- if that buggering 3 song medley- IACBTMN, BYLM and TLYM is in it, in the same playback fashion I will burn all my cds and throw myself into a furnace. So don't do that Celine.

There are undoubtedley benefits to her being there- though I  don't see why she has to always be 'on the radar' - take the time off and do what she wants. I'm still skeptical about Vegas anyhow- why would they be building this dream home in Florida if they're going to be based thousands of miles away?

As for NYC- I do agree that it simply wouldn't work- where would she be? Broadway? I'd vomit. She suits Vegas- she's cheesey, over the top, glitzy and a diva- NY is too serious (I've been there and love it). In my humble opinion

Yeah, although I would love New York because it's close to home...I agree, it wouldn't work. New York is more about the indie music scene I feel...and whenever there are big shows its almost always at MSG or one of the theaters MSG owns (ie. Radio City Music Hall). The only long running shows I know of are broadway. Even Cirque du Soleil is only a seasonal show. They just wouldn't have anywhere to put the show for the long run. Didn't she talk about doing broadway at one point? That's something she could do New York based but I don't think that will end up happening.

I totally agree with you stevo..that medley has to go! At least change it up a little bit. She must be so bored of it by now, she could probably do it in her sleep. I'm 80% sure though, if AND does come back...it's not going to be that much different. That's just my opinion.

She would nt be performing ALL the time if she was in rotation with Elton, Cher and Bettie so she would have a life. but she should take a break first obviously to have child. I would love to see Celine be able to take some time off to have another child (she wants one so badly) and I would really, really like to see her do a movie!  That way we would all get the chance to see her.  She says she would like to play Maria Callas in a movie of her life, and I, for one, would LOVE to see this happen.  Is there any more word on that possibility?  

As far as Vegas is concerned, she's been there, done that.  Let's see something new for our talented Celine.  I bet she would blow people's socks off if she did a movie.  She is so expressive and after seeing her do a little "opera" on the "Taking Chances" extra DVD, I think she could pull it off.

Well she didnt want to do it but she also says that she knew if it didnt work she could sell everything and start over so if she REALLY didnt want to do it she knew what she could do. Also why would she extend the show to 5 yrs if she didnt like doing it.

I was also thinking if they had anticipated her coming back to Vegas would they really have redone the stage knowing she would come back. The stage was customized for her. Also I wouldnt be spending all that money on that home in Fl if i planned on living in Vegas for more show but then again shes rich so what else are you going to spend your money on..

I Like the news but i want her to have the baby first!!!
it will be on ALOT smaller scale this time she could still record albums and promote them, do a movie, and even a small tour at the same time,
She will rotate with Cher, Elton, and Bette
and Bette Milder is the HEADLINER there Celine will NOT be she does the most shows her gig will be on a much lower scale if/when she goes back

So Calm Down..Vegas would not controll her life this time...She might even  live in Florida in the rotation sing for two weeks have a moth off go back to florida and then come back to Vegas the next montha and live in her home there while she is performing.. I thought Cher was the headliner because shes doing the best with most sold out shows. I hope she does have a baby because the older she gets the harder it will get. Maybe this time she will get twins!!
