Well what are the main focuses on that workout?  ^_^

Next week i'll be going to a volleyball camp, it's from 8:30am to 6pm, Monday thru thursday. It's very intense  -_-
So all this week i've gotta be drinking a lot of water to keep hydrated, because the air conditioners won't be on in the gym...

So all this week i've gotta be drinking a lot of water to keep hydrated, because the air conditioners won't be on in the gym...

Well it's this pretty intense cardio workout class. :) With a little bit of "muscle training" always in the end, like a few push-ups or sit-ups or lunges, for example. But the main focus is to improve (and maintain) your aerobic condition. It's about doing different kind of "moves", with the use of a step board. I don't know if you know about Les Mills?? Well BodyStep is one of it's programs, so it means that Les Mills releases a new BodyStep release in every 3 months, with news track and new mix of moves. But the basic framework is always the same, so the release is always one hour long, with 12 tracks, the first one always being a warm-up track, the 10th track is always the cardio peak, 12 is cooldown/stretching etc.. Certain track always has the same meaning throughout the releases. And what's awesome in it is that the moves and the songs are the same worldwide! :D So if you go to BodyStep in USA you'll be doing the exact same tracks than I here in Finland.
Anyway, I don't know if you understood anything from this confusing explanation, haha, but anyway, it's really a GREAT workout and I just looooove it!! :D Here's a short video about it, if you want to take a look at, for fun.  ^_^

Yay Fernando, great for you!! And you WILL be able to keep it up! See, now that we know you went one time, we'll be asking you about your training and how you're progressing. ;) Hahaha! No but I think it's good to share stuff, cause that alone can help you keep up with the motivation! And also when you start to see progress, it will feel amazing!  :thumbsup2:

Oh yikes that would be hard for a long period of time! We do some similar workouts on a box like that for volleyball, and it gets tiring going full force for 45 seconds, i can't imagine for that long! That video looks like it would make me sore :P Maybe one day my mom and I will join a class like that, or Zumba!
Hehe too bad all of those YT comments were negative!

Ugh i'm not looking forward to next week, it's gonna be way too intense

Hehe, maybe it would make you sore at the first time. :D Or then not. :P Well anyway if you ever try it, let me know!! ;) Oh and Zumba is a lot of fun too! I went to it pretty regularly last summer and fall, but now I haven't been to the classes for the whole spring/summer... Running and Bodystep have taken all my time, haha.
And yeah I don't know why those Youtube comments were that negative... I think it's just a few people who just have to comment something useless, even when they know nothing about it...

Haha! So you like long distance or short/fast sprints? I hate running! One of the reasons I didn't do basketball, i'm actually a pretty good point guard, but i hate running a lot,  :glare: One of the many reasons I LOVE volleyball  :ohyeah:

What shoes do you use to run, anything in particular? :)

What shoes do you use to run, anything in particular? :)

Well I prefer running short distances, precisely to be able to run fast, haha.   Most often I run distances between 6 to 10 km. :) I hear many people saying that they don't like running cause it's so boring. But I don't find it boring at all! It's anything but boring, when you just put on your favourite music and then let your feet take you, haha! I love the feeling which comes after about 30 minutes of running, that's usually the moment when your breathing starts to really work at the most optimal state and your legs feel light and you feel like you could just go on forever, hahah.  :-D I'm really addicted to that feeling! And I feel that among all the sports I've done, the best "after feeling" comes from running.  :thumbsup2:

About shoes, I use just those basic running shoes. The current ones I have are Adidas'. I bought them last fall, I think I should buy new ones next spring at the latest, cause I've started to use them in Bodystep as well, cause they are much better to use in it than normal aerobic shoes I think. Cause there are so many jumps in Bodystep and some running moves as well. :)

I would actually like to try volleyball too!! I've played it in PE classes in school, but that was like 10 years ago... so I'd really like to try again! And lately I'm into tennis! I'm a REAL beginner, even my bat is probably like from the 60's or something, HAHA, it's this wooden bat that I bought last summer in the flea market, just cause I happened to find one in 3 euros (!!), so I thought that now I could finally try some tennis.   Do you like tennis? :)

Oh and how long have you played volleyball? I think I haven't asked that yet. :)

Aww! I would be one of those people to find running boring...  :shy:  But i admit it does feel good after a long hard practice, you feel like... successful, proud :D
For volleyball we have a different kind of shoe, of course not mandatory, but helpful with grip! And i use ankle braces and of course Under armour knee pads  But even with all that I get floor burns constantly!

Volleyball is just amazing! I love it so much! It's not my priority, school is, but it's my favorite thing to do! This camp is very tiring, but it's an amazing experience, and I'm learning a lot and not to mention getting in shape! :sweatingbullets: And i'm playing with Varsity so it's a much faster pace!

I've been playing for 4 and a half years, for club and now it's all for my high school.

I don't like tennis cause you need hand-eye coordination!  :dash:

:dash:

I know the feeling, when you love a sport so much!! ;) It's the same for me with BodyStep, I'm like IN LOVE with it, hahaha! :throb:  :-D Only someone who loves some other sport as much, can understand it! ;)

The camp must be a really good experience for you! For learning, and getting in shape exactly. :) By they way, what does Varsity mean..?

And about tennis, yeah I noticed once again today that the hand-eye coordination is pretty important...  :whistling: I mean, a few times the ball came directly towards me, then I did indeed hit the ball, but then the next second I was like "where the heck did the ball go..??" cause I hadn't seen it going back to the front player's side. After a moment I realized I had somehow hit the ball behind me...    I don't understand how it could even happen!    But it was so much fun, I played against my mum today! :D

I hate exercise but I know I need to do more (that's not hard at this point). Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can motivate myself and find something that I like? :)

Hmm, well maybe if you find the thing you like, then the motivation could perhaps come slowly by itself. But yeah, first you have the find the thing you like...  :-D  I think you just have to try different sports to find the one that suits you! Some people like running, some like cycling, some prefer team sports.. What sports have you tried already? :)

I haven't been this "sports crazy" my whole life. But 6,5 years ago I went to a spinning class at the gym, and I got hooked almost immediately.. And soon I started to do more and more sports, and nowadays I do something almost every day, and I couldn't live without it anymore! :)

Right! Yeah my brother asks me why I dedicate myself so much to this sport, and all I can answer is because I simply love it  oh varsity is the highest level of play in high school, for each sport you have 3 teams depending on age and skill, there's a freshman team for 9th graders, a JV team for 10th an 11th graders then Varsity is for 12th graders. So no matter your age you can always play up a team, but you can't move down. Say if you're a 12th grader, you can't be on JV since you're too old. Get me? :P so right now I'm a 10th grader playing at a 12th grade level ^_^

My mom loves tennis too! :D ROFL!!  That must have been hilarious hitting that ball backwards!!!! Strange things happen when you don't have coordination :P

Yesterday at camp we warmed up with Zumba and some Step moves and it reminded me of you!
I didn't like the Zumba much since I dont like to dance, but I did enjoy the stepping moves cause it stretched my sore muscles!! :o

Ahh ok, I get it! :) Wow, you must be pretty good then if you're already at a 12th grade level!! Great!  ^_^ So do you also compete a lot?

Hehe, great to hear you did some Step moves! :D You know, I didn't like Zumba the first time either, cause I can't and don't like to dance either.. But then after 6 months I wanted to try again, and that time I kinda liked it and started to go regularly last fall. :D Though now it's been again more than 6 months that I last went....

Today I went running and it was such a good run again!  ^_^ I came one hill down soooo fast that I almost felt like laughing cause it was just so fun to run that fast!   Listening to great music does a lot too though..
I think I might go running again tomorrow. :)

Ok. Thank for the advice. I'll be allowed to sign up at the gym next year so we'll see then. But for the sports, I tried pretty much everything. I definetly HATE running, it makes me feel sick... Thanks for the advice. I'll try stuff at the gym. :)

I've tried many things, badminton is ok (the practises are ridiculous though at school. it's like three times a week from 5pm to 9 and even on days when we don't have school and since I live far from school, it's sort of a problem). I tried basket-ball. It's ok. I've tried soccer, still ok but not my favorite, as well as many others. Another thing that I noticed, I don't know if it's only like this in Québec but there's no where where you can just go sort of when you want, where there's no team, training and a huge comittment thing. I really don't like that. I'm probably going to be going to aerobics classes next year with my mother but for now, I'm too young to sign up. So, to answer your question Kay, there isn't really any sport that I really care for and that I don't find too invasive but aerobics are tollerable. I think that another thing that makes gym class hell, is that we have to run for at least 12 minutes but we're never allowed any music or anything. It doesn't help. Anway... Thanks Kay.

Aww but in order to get better you have to practice! Haha we have practice every day, the entire month of August from 8:45am to 6pm :tiredsmiley: Haha so it's a loooong month!

Well it's ok, sports aren't for every one but as long as you find some way to stay active then you're absolutely fine ^_^

I made varsity!! :whee:
