I can hear already people complaining after they read the translation I'm gonna write in a few minutes: oh no, it's the same, nothing new...

Well, can Celine reinvent her life or go back and live again so she has something new to tell on her interviews?

How do you expect something new if Celine has told us most of her life and sometimes in great detail, especially with 3 official biographies?

What can she do if the lady is asking her about her past? Should she tell the lady: oh shut up, let's talk about something else?

Or maybe she should enjoy her vacation at home and don't bother to do any interview because she has nothing new to say?

 

Anyways, I'm gonna write the translation now...

Translation from part 1

 

Sorry I can't make a full transcript because Janette was always speaking at the same time as Celine and sometimes I couldn't get what they were telling.

And we don't learn french in school with Quebec's accent and slang so it makes it harder for me.

 

 

Celine sounds very mature and sweet. She might had told this stories 100000 times but now she speaks with such maturity and honesty!

 

 

- Janette asked if Celine still remembered the Telethon they made together years ago and Celine does remember

 

-Janette brought Celine 3 gifts (she always offers a gift to her guests): a recipe book (which Celine's mother already has), her autobiography and maple syrup sweets (Janette did some research to know what Celine would like as a gift so me cooked the sweets herself with her husband. It had nuts inside, Celine loved it!)

 

- Janette told Celine she looks mature, beautiful and very happy and asked her if this comes from RC.

 

 

 

- Celine said she thinks it must be the same for everyone when they have a child. "Before having a child we can have dreams and visions and ambitions and a lot of things, everything is more or less important, we do the things as we want it. But when we have a child we find our place, like a boat getting some balance, as if a compass inside of us finds it's way finally.When I had my son in my arms for the first time and even before that when I heard his heartbeating he was accepting me as a mother and carrying a child was extraordinary privilege. The first time I had him in my arms I asked myself how could I put in words what I was feeling in that moment."

 

-Celine: "Everytime I talk about my childhood it moves me a lot. When I see pictures of me from when I was little or when maman and my brothers and sisters tell me about my childhood I don't know why but it moves me a lot. It's not painful but love hurts too. I was so overwhelmed and I could not show these emotions when I was younger. The reason why I used to cry a lot when I was young in the begining of my carreer was this, it was a lot of emotion, a flow of love. So when I took my son in my arms for the first time I tried to understand this grandiose love and I told myself this was like I was touching and carrying my own childhood for the first time. I was seeing him, I was feeling his heartbeat, his scent..."

 

- Janette tells Celine that when they hold their child they always thing he came from inside of them and is a part of them.

 

- Celine: "That's why we become so protective. We take this child and we must take care. And there's the abandoning [Don't know if this is the right word but I guess you get what she means] because this child looks at you and they trust you and then you tell yourself that even if you did a lot of good things in your life, even if you are very young..."

 

-Janette interrupts Celine to tell that a son is not replacable and Celine tells this is "larger than life"

 

- Celine: "I tell myself sometimes that I have to show him the thing in life but it's him that's teaching me and since this day [the day RC was born] everything became important, every little thing. I what to rearrange the whole life, I wanted to improve the world for him, for the others, for the other children around him, for us."

Part 2

 

This might sound very confusing but... they keep speaking at the same time and Celine talks a lot LOL and about too many things and while it makes perfect sense to listen it's hard to write it down and make it sound good

 

-Janette mentions Celine was an "accident", not a planned child.

 

- Celine: "I had a lot of moms and dads"

 

(she now said I few words I couln't get)

 

- Celine: I was carried [by her family] and then in the beginning of my carreer I was again carried and supported and encouraged.

 

-Janette: You could have become unbearable.

 

-Celine: Absolutely.

 

(Again the 2 of them speaking at the same time and I didn't get it)

 

- Celine: Now I look at my son and... I want to give everything to my son. René and I want to give him everything. It's not about what we give to a child. We don't raise a child only with the things we give it. It's the way we raise him that will make him a good person or not. People ask me: do you spoil him? Of course I do. [They ask] Are you not afraid of spoiling him too much? And I tell myself I was so spoiled. Not just love, my brothers and sisters worked and bought me a lot of things. They spoiled me a lot. It's dangerous but I must give him the rest, make him apreciate, be generous and be a good person. It's not like you can spoil a child with toys if you don't give the most important thing which is being loved and knowing the true values."

 

-Janette: Do you think that the fact that you were so much loved by your family made you who you are?

 

-Celine: Absolutely.

 

-Janette: It could have taken away all your ambition because spoiled children don't need anything, they know everyone will give them everything. What gave you the ambition?

 

- Celine: Being on stage at 5 years old up on a kitchen table surrounded by brothers and sister who applaud you no matter if it sounds good or bad... they love you, you're their little sister. This love was sincere and honest and we all had the same dream. We all wanted to be sucessful.

 

- Janette: You all wanted to be in the music [industry]?

 

- Celine: We all had the music inside of us and most of us, not all but the most of us wanted to be on stage.

 

- Janette: Where does it comes from? Is that from your father's family who were musicians.

 

- Celine: And my mother too

 

- Janette: And your mother too

 

- Celine: I think the electricity from both sides came together and made a ball of fire.

 

- Janette: All their ambition became focused in you?

 

- Celine: No. I think when we have the 3rd baby, the 7th, the 9th and the 11th you have no time to put all your energy in one single person. The bigger ones had to take care of the little ones and the grown ups had to go to school or have a job let's all help here. But 6 years after the twins I was born. My mother had been depressed. She did not want children because she was over 40 years old. She was 41 and she was afraid she would have a handicap child... because they would say this to women [back then]. 40 years old was the deadline, the limit. After that just forget about it, 41 years old would be fatal.

My mother had more time to put her energy into me. This doesn't mean she didn't give everything she had to the others. But when the youngest were 6 years old and already were going to school and then a new baby come home and the others were grown up, she had more time to say: she loves to sing, she sings there at Le Vieux Barril, I don't want her to sing in pubs... there were 13 before her who wanted to do this, who perfomed in pubs, others made one record or two but they never really succeeded... she wants to do this, she is the last one and now I have more time to dedicate. And the stars and destiny and mostly the time my mother dedicated to this, having free time, having no other baby...

 

-Janette: But tell me about this child. Your home in Charlemagne had how many rooms?

 

- Celine: I had one, two, three... maybe six rooms. It had three or four rooms upstairs and downstair it had a kitchen and a living room.

 

- Janette: But you were 16.

 

- Celine: We were 16

 

- Janette: You were 16...

 

- Celine: That's why I'm not afraid to be close to you because back then we were all raised to each other

 

-Janette: 16 and you were poor

 

-Celine: Oh no, we were rich. We were rich, we had it all.. but no money.

 

- Janette: You had no money

 

- Celine: no we had no money. My mother knew how to sew, she knew how to sing, how to play music. My father was there working very hard. We had a fireplace, we were not cold. My mother makes wonderful food, she can sew and tell us stories. She has a soul of soul of an artist. She has talent even has psycologist. I don't know, I think she is amazing.

I always thought my father lived in a family completely different from my mother's family. They completed each other. My father lived through very hard situations. My mother worked a lot. But the music brought them together. I believe my mother saved my father and maybe my father saved my mother too but my mother took control in a way that makes me believe she saved my father.

 

-Janette: She was the strong woman in the family.

 

-Celine: She was the strong woman in the family. And my father lived in another kind of family and it was very hard. It was tought. Fortunately my father was a hard worker. We worked to get out of it. And the music [i didn't understand the final words here]

 

- Janette: Where does this voice comes from? We don't know where it comes from. I listen to you singing and I wonder: where does it comes from? Only a few people have a voice like this. Not everyone has a voice this beautiful, this strong, this special. Do you know? [where it comes from]

 

- Celine: I think I have a little bit from each of my brothers and sisters. I saw them yesterday night at the Casino. I saw them in front of me and I know very weel each personality. And it was impressive to me see them... Claudette, of course, who sings beautifuly and loves what she does. But it was even more special to see Pauline, Paul's twin. She has 6 children. Seeing her on stage singing... I had never heard her voice. Manon, I had never heard her voice, Daniel too.

 

- Janette: Even at your kitchen?

 

- Celine: At home yes but Daniel used to play drums only because he could not speak... it was very internal. Everyone had it's own personality. Some were party people and that's ok. But many personalities were very much internal, even if they loved music. Seeing them yesterday I told myself: I was not invented. Every single one of them is inside of me. It's a family gift. I don't mean to sound pretentious but I feel like I have all of them inside of me. And it was given to me the chance to make it come true for them.

 

- Janette: what was the first song you performed and how old were you?

 

- Celine: I don't remember if I sang another one before this but I'm going to remember forever singing this one...

 

(Celine sings sooooooo adorable!)

 

- Celine: I performed this one at Michel's wedding. I was 5 years old. I performed 4 songs.

 

(She laughs about something here that I didn't get )

 

- Janette: Michel's wedding was when you had the applause...

 

- Celine: I never realised when this started

 

- Janette: I think it's like the ladies who tell us they listened to a calling, we're talking about religion. Did you always knew you were going to do this? Did you have a calling to sing for the others?

 

- Celine: I can't remember the moment when I realised this is what I wanted to do. For me it was granted. And I was encouraged by the whole family. When you look at all the luck there was behind all of this, it's incredible. Begining with the family, being a part of this family it's the most wonderful gift. And then, why me? Why I was given this voice? Why I was surrounded by the best people? Why I had amazing authors and composers? Why was this given to me and why it came to this level? Why did I receive all of this? That's a lot.

 

- Janette: Because you have the talent.

 

- Celine: Of course you need the talent. But I believe that a lot of people have the talent but don't have the passion and...

 

- Janette: And the discipline.

 

- Celine: Oh Lord.. and the being able to leave thing behind to go after other things.

 

- Janette: You must have a calling to leave it all behind to go after it.

 

- Celine: The talent is only 10%, 20% of it.

 

- Janette: But if you don't have it, the rest doesn't come along.

 

- Celine: [without talent] the snow ball wouldn't happen but you need much more than this.

I've just watched the 3rd part but I can't translate it right now because my sister are sleeping and I can't play the video.

 

It was quite interesting. Celine talked about her drive, about the way she never had the time to dream a carreer this wonderful because it just happened before she had the time to think about it. She also talked about a childhood friend. And talked about meeting Rene when she was 12.

 

Tomorrow if I'm not too busy at work and my boss doesn't show up I'll be translating it in the morning!
