FINAL RESULT

 

So the big day has come! 22 of you have voted for Change My Mind, so... The Hard Way (20 votes) wins the Survivor and becomes the ultimate fan favorite from Céline's latest English album Courage!

 

I think this result comes to show that, even tough we all support Céline when it comes to trying new stuff and different sounds, there's nothing better than a classic Céline track to make us all fall in love: exquisite vocal performance, an inspiring message, big amounts of drama and a gospel choir to make an ending full of high notes even more epic.

 

The song was written by Jessica Karpov, Whitney Phillips and Greg Wells. Produced by Wells, The Hard Way is available on Courage's Deluxe Edition as one of the four exclusive bonus tracks. A member of this very forum, manolo19, recently made this beautiful music video for the song. Wouldn't it be amazing to let Céline know this footage? I think watching this video could be such a cool way to celebrate this victory, so let's go! :)

 

 

Thanks to each and every one of the fans who have participated in this game since we kicked it off in December of last year! (crazy how fast nearly six months can pass by). I hope you all enjoyed this game as much as I did, and let's hope Céline won't take too long to release a new album so we can do another Survivor soon ^_^

Thank you noyau! I know you helped me out, specially during one of the rounds when I got the voting all wrong and eliminated the wrong song. Thanks to you the game quickly got back to normal ^_^

Totally agree Davey, The Hard Way is one of my favorite tracks from Courage, wouldn't it be cool to see her performing it live at an Awards show with a big gospel choir like the old days? :blush:

 

 

Following Davey's demand, here's a quick overview on how the songs got voted off the Survivor:

 

The game started on December 23 of last year, a bit more than a month after the Courage album was released worldwide. Explained the rules, the first round ended with not one but two songs eliminated: Say Yes and The Chase left the game with 10 votes each.

 

On the second round, Baby said goodbye with 11 votes. This followed with I Will Be Stronger leaving with 9 votes and then my mess up came! My hate towards Lovers Never Die made me count the votes wrong and take the song out of the game :giggle:, but thanks to many of you guys I realized my mistake, got LND back and eliminated For The Lover That I Lost, which was the most voted song that week.

 

Best Of All became the first bonus track to leave the game on the following round with 9 votes. This was followed by Falling In Love Again and How Did You Get Here saying goodbye on the next two rounds.

 

Soul was voted off the game on its eighth round in mid-February. I nearly invited you all to a big party in my house to celebrate that Lovers Never Die left the Survivor on the next round :innocent: Next was Nobody's listening to this song Watching with 14 votes.

 

On March 9 we said goodbye to the first song that Céline performed live from this album as Flying On My Own received no less than eleven votes on Round 11. Boundaries, Imperfections and (still hard to believe) Perfect Goodbye left the game over the three weeks that followed.

 

The album's title track was voted off on Round 15 with 14 votes, and then went two Sia-penned-songs Lying Down (13 votes) and Heart Of Glass (16 votes) :mellow:

 

After Look At Us Now was eliminated, it was down to Change My Mind and The Hard Way, with the later ending up winning the game and becoming Courage's Survivor :clap:

I’m delighted with the result! “The Hard Way” is an amazing song which certainly deserves to win, perhaps more than any other song. Thank you so much for running the game! It was really fun (even though I spent months voting for the same song)! Hopefully we can do another one soon, maybe with a new French album. Edited by Céline RO

I think on Celine's Facebook fan group, Perfect Goodbye won the vote... On UKmix, the winner was Lying Down

and now The Hard Way. Three contests, three different songs! :)

I have to say that I'm not totally shocked by the results of this game in the end. The Hard way is as close to "Classic Celine" on the album as you can get. First off, It's a power balled and second, there is a big singing over choir moment! :-D Those are two things that always make a Celine song a winner for me. That being said, I wanted Flying On my Own as the winner. It's the best sounding song vocally in my personal opinion. Celine sings strong and clear in this song and it's very reminiscent of I'm Alive.

 

I find that FOMO puts a certain energy behind the entire album and is a true stand out. I also thought that Boundaries and Soul should have been in the final 3 for sure. :down: I can't find fault in these songs in terms of quality of her voice. Celine sings these particular songs on the album very clearly and with that airy soft quality that I've loved from over the years. I find her airy soft quality especially evident when listening to Boundaries. It's so lovely. Classic Celine! :wub: :wub: I honestly can't choose between Flying On My Own, Boundaries and Soul. If it were up to me, all 3 should have won. LOL.
