It's just lazy music critics. Poor them, they have to go through 20 songs from an artist they are not necessarily a fan of. For us, it's cool but imagine if you have to do this as a job. Thank you! Haha. I don’t get it!?!?!?! I feel like I blow through tracks 1-20 sooooo fast! The songs are SO good that time just flies for me. This “long” album feels like one of her shortest because I’m so sucked in by it!

Also what the heck is that Slant interview? It seems like they already figured that they hated Celine before they even listened to the album.

Being a music critic is kinda of a bs job today anyway, and besides, if it's a chore for them, then they probably shouldn't be a music critic at all. Luckily it's easy to spot if the reviews are written by a moron though, like the two Norwegian reviews I read yesterday was, lol.

Same has when the journalist ask him: Why this sucess ? The response about her voice from a real muscian and composer that is Manoukian is a real pleasure.

The Dionnaissance in France is really special and so good to witness. Thanks again Xavier Dolan where it mostly all begun

I'm glad he's out of the picture. I think he was holding her back. There's one interview from the Aldo era I distinctly remember reading and thinking "wow, hope that's not a sign of things to come". See excerpt below. (Also, LOL, "next English album, due in 2017")

I think he was more interested in her selling household goods than being an artist.

Change has clearly done her well ever since she let him go (or he resigned..... but I believe it was probably a bit of both).

 

"But what if Dion comes to Giampaolo and suggests they do something radically different for the next English album, due out in 2017? [...]

So maybe we’ll see a different Céline Dion, I suggested.

“You can’t do radical things with an artist,” replied Giampaolo.

Well, you can, I countered.

“You can when you have a young artist,” he said. “But when you have an established artist, you have to be very careful. You can’t disappoint the fan base.”

But veteran artists do remake/remodel their careers, I argued, pointing to cases like Tina Turner and Johnny Cash, who went through late-career transformations.

Well he wasn't wrong... I don't think Courage is really a radical album, and that's a good thing.

I think he was holding her back.

 

I think the complete opposite... I think he wanted "too much" of her.

He pushed her out of her comfort zone and let her do things she hadn't done before and despite his age, did some modern stuff.

The social media presence was better than before (and also between him leaving up until Courage) and she actually released one-off singles instead of waiting for an album. And he actually had a 5 or 10 year plan. Under his management we also got the amazing 2016 tour.

 

We'll probably never know what actually happened (there's only speculations), but I for one hoped he had stayed a little longer.
