"Play Me Like A Love Song" - Official Topic

Really? I think the complete opposite. I mean, I enjoy the song - she delivers it fantastically and the video is hysterical. But with lyrics like: "Can you use these tears to put out the fire in my soul? Cause I need you here...Oh." "OH???!!!!!!" THAT'S the rhyme - you're so lazy you just have the singer sing, "Oh?!"

I've always thought of this song the way Randy Jackson would always talk on American Idol about Celine songs - the songs themselves are mediocre; it's her delivery of the songs that elevate them to an iconic status.

Perhaps it wasn't meant to rhyme. It is Ryan Reynolds and Deadpool that this song was for. That may have been on purpose.

I actually really like ashes I find the chorus very cinematic, my only *CENSORED* about the song is that it feels like it’s missing a bridge and climax.

Call me old fashion but I like a song that has a proper Opening, 1st verse, chorus, 2nd verse, chorus, bridge, climax, chorus and proper ending. But I enjoyed the song and enjoyed that she didn’t try to sound like Adele or Sia or LP but rather herself.

I agree. A lot of songs on Courage are also like this. Just too short and usually missing a chorus and/or bridge.

All of these songs should have been at least 1 minute longer. They sort of feel like half a song.

Last theory/idea and I'm done Priyanka mentioned in an interview Celine sings for the movie (playing catch up in that thread tonight lol)....perhaps she also recorded the theme song and it's PMLALS. Don't shoot me y'all....

I also thought this..but then I remembered she signed her contract with TFY in October 2020 and the song was recorded before or in June 2019. So if it is of a film it's not TFY.

Moreover the song doesn't fit the movie. It is too dramatic. I will love to listen a song like Best Of All, Thank You, The Chase kind of positive vibe. It's All Coming Back To Me won't suit a film like Stuart little, will it?

Jonas Myrin one of the writers of the Song apparently was asked how ist was to work with Celine….as can be seen in his Instagram Story…but bis answer is not available/Not complete as of now…maybe he will Post it later

I've noticed any posts about this song have since disappeared. Aside from floating around YouTube (which is hard to keep track of once it reaches a certain point) any of the original leaked posts aren't there anymore. Really makes me think it's just not ever getting released. Time to move on.

B. The song is really big. It is like MY HEART WILL GO ON and they have plans with it so they are not informing too much about it as they want to like just pop out of nowhere(like happened with Ashes).

Why would they record a song for a documentary years before it was announced? I’m not saying it *couldn't* be used for that, but that certainly wasn’t the intention for recording it…

This could also have been one of those things that had had to be postponed due to the pandemic so PMLAL could have possibly have been recorded for this as obviously it was not for the courage album.

They recorded Lying Down years before it's actual release. Nowadays Celine has this fashion of working on a song/album for eternity. Maybe she did maybe she didn't. But something tells me this song will be used in the documentary if not recorded FOR it.

 

There is also possibility as Shamrock said, that this documentary might have a postponed stuff or that it was something she thought of for few years, and she recorded PMLALS for Courage but thought it should be more than a single or a track for a studio album and thought let's keep it in vault for my own movie...lol... just kidding.
