Can I actually listen to the ATW and ANDHC SACDs on my Blu Ray player, or does it only work on a specific SACD player?

wow, so I don't have to buy that extra SACD device in order to be able to listen to it? Are you absolutely sure? If so, then I will go ahead and biy me these 2 SACDs :D (they are very expensive though...) Edited by ryba

Yup, I can listen to my SACDs on my Blu-Ray player. I would double check to see if your model can, mine has the SACD symbol on the actual machine.

I have no SACD symbol on it, but I bought it in 2015 and it's a very good brand. Do you think it might still play it?

Cool, thanks! :) Do you also know where I could buy these SACDs apart from Amazon and Ebay? I assume that the music stores won't be able to order them after all these years

The SACD for All the Way was recently reissued in Hong Kong, I think it was last year, there might still be some copies available somewhere. But yeah, her SACDs are pretty expensive. I managed to get a copy of ANDHC for a decent price on eBay last year. I would just keep eyes open for good deals.

Oh, I forgot her duet with Paul Anka, It’s Hard To Say Goodbye. On his Duets album, the song has a longer intro and outro with more vocals from Céline.

 

I guess I need to buy his “Duets” album now. LOL

There is no stereo layer on the SACD for All the Way. ATW and ANDHC only have the 5.1 sound layer and therefore can only be played in SACD players. Only SACD hybrids have the stereo layer and are able to be played on both regular CD players and SACD players. The only SACD hybrid for Celine is Falling Into You made in Hong Kong (which has no special mixing done).

I was slightly misremembering, there are no additional adlibs in the SACD version. However, on the album version, the song fades out starting around 5:00. The SACD version does not fade out at all and ends with a beat.

 

That said, all of the songs on the ATW SACD have mixing differences when compared to the album version. There's a lot of added instruments and a lot more depth to the balance of the sound.

 

I never knew this. i have the SACD of All The Way actually, but I've never listened to it. I must somehow rip the audio to my computer now. I have a blu-ray ripper so that should work?

 

edit: Apparently ripping an SACD is complicated stuff.

Guys, this is factually not correct. SACD is a completely different authoring technology compared to Blu-Ray, not all players can play SACD. I would advocate googling your model number to check it's technical specs.

A few seconds are cut from the vinyl. The CD & digital version clocks in at 3:59 and the vinyl clocks in at 3:51.

Differences??

 

On the CD version, at the end of the song, just the backing chorus sings "Thankful my heart always mends" before Celine sings it solo. On the vinyl version, Celine sings along with the chorus too.

Thank you for pointing this out. I google my model number and my Blu-Ray player can plays SACD according to the thechnical specs. :yes:

Just found this, on the back cover it says DSD and Stereo, however I’m not sure if both layers have the alternate mixes, does anyone can confirm ?

It seems like some versions of the ATW SACD only have a single layer (multichannel only) and some other versions have two layers (multichannel and stereo).

It's true that some tracks on "All the Way" SACD version have different mixes too : for exemple, "To Love You More" has a guitar sound at the "I'll be...." moment just after the bridge !

I managed to download some tracks and I can confirm that only the Multichannel layer on the SACD have the alternate mixes, the stereo layer have the exact same mixes as the regular CD version. :)
