I don't speak French and the regional accents all sound the same to me. I once asked a poster about it when they made a curious comment about her accent while singing, but I think they never replied or I may have missed it. Here's a comment from elsewhere, a nothingburger, just mildly interesting (to me) and wanted to share:

You know what? I didn’t even think of that when he was announced but now that you mention it - yes! It’s probably her best chance of getting that gig. Also helpful that Amazon MGM is now the 007 owner and producer, because that Céline doc did very well for them, so they know she still has cultural currency. Yes, they’ve been going with much younger and newer artists lately, but people like Paul McCartney or Madonna did Bond themes well into their careers.

Honestly Eurovision song was sung in French, that's it, without any specific accent. The way Celine prononciated the words below come from her way of singing, the manners Jean-Jacques GOLDMAN wanted her top stop. It sounded too old school, too much Edith Piaf or Mireille Mathieu

 

Celine rarely sings with an accent. It can happen when she sings Quebec standards that were originally sung with a strong accent but that's it. Not for her personal songs. For example when she covered Ordinaire her accent was clear. Because Robert Charlebois sings with a strong Quebec accent. It happens the same with us. Noticing at karaoké parties when there is a French song of Tina Arena, people sing it with Tina's English speaking pronunciation. This is weird, but in another way that's how the song sounds ... It shows that when we sing a signing melody does not have anything to do with the spoken language, so you can adapt yourself very easily.

 

Celine speaking on Tv ( even young on QC tv) spoke with a very light accent, which sounds normal since Charlemagne is in the surroundings of Montreal. It would have been completely different if she would have come from a small rural town, lost in the middle of the forest ....

 

European French speaking people do not make fun of her. Parisians do, France is a centralized country and the accent you are considering as the French one is actually the Parisian one ..... I come from the South-East of France and I have a very strong accent, different from Paris. For them people from Provence have a reputation for being very slow, like to chill, not to much work, lazy people. A lot a humorists come from Provence and play with their accent so it emphasized this laziness reputation. And honestly it can be a problem in your job. But it's true that Quebec accent sounds exotic

 

When Celine came to France she spoke with her regular accent but it is true when you watched 1997 - 1998 interviewes for French TV, she erased it a lot, and sounded very Parisian.

 

I think the real difference for Celine does not come from her accent but from a language in itself. Celine speaks a common French language when she is on TV, but when she in private ( footage of her with family ) she speaks more French Quebec language that can have grammatical differences, different expressions or words that are not used anyone. I personally don't understand her if not subtitled.

I don't think a single thing they post is a teaser. It's all just engagement, possibly monetized who knows. More weeks and months go by without Celine the artist in our lives musically.

Maybe you’ve noticed that Céline’s popularity on social media has dropped quite a bit. Posting only random things, and maybe now posting weirder stuff, might be a way to keep the general audience hooked. For us, they’re just repeated photos, but for people who aren’t big fans, maybe they seem new.

And what a terrific coup for her should she snag a Bond gig... Tina Turner's still rings in my ear each time I think of Bond movies. Given her current personal fight, her veteran/A++ status and longevity, her vibe would be a wonderful addition to the project, I think.

There’s a strong rumor going around for the past few days about a legendary artist whose team contacted the VMAs to reserve a 10 min performance during the show on September 7th. This artist is supposedly releasing a new album on September 5th and is set to perform a medley.

 

No one is suggesting it’s Celine, so it’s not even really a rumor for us, but of course, my fan brain couldn’t help but consider the possibility. Especially since the rumor also says that VMA producers were shocked by the request, no one saw it coming. And let’s be honest, no one is really expecting anything from Celine right now.

 

On the other hand, if Celine is working on a new album, chances are it’s a French one, so the VMAs wouldn’t really be the place to promote it. So yeah, there’s a 99.99% chance it’s not Celine. But I can’t help dreaming about that 0.01%. It would be huge!

The rumoured song title was Run Like A River. It could be this song... but I don't mind Céline didn't release it. It's boring as hell! hahaha
