I don't know if there is any streaming numbers experts here.

 

But I read that 1 unit of album : streams of each song added up and divided by XXX ( depending on premium or free streams).

 

Streams of each song are divided by XXXX to have the song sales.

 

So if I understand correctly : streams of a song count for both single and album sales? Is it right?

Especially for the big hits?

 

I've read - for example - that Lady Gaga's second week sales in the US of her new album will include 10k from the duet with Bruno Mars.

Don't know if numbers are true but this is not the point, the process is.

And in the meantime, these streams will also be part of the song sales...

 

It's weird.

 

Of course, I don't have any alternative how to make the difference hahaha.

 

And also the fact that free streams also count for charts! Divided by a bigger coefficient for sure but still.

 

No wonder why some singers pile up certifications and sales...

 

Streaming is handsome ( and for sure Celine benefits from it as well as she got some certifications too)but we can't compare sales from the current era with what the music market used to be in the 90s ( for example)

For many people, music was 1. Not foundable 2. Not affordable.

Now access to ANY song ANY time ANY where can be free...

It would also be nice to only count ( for sales) streams not ifrom a playlist. The user should go to the artist page to be applicable for sales.

Many people use playlist as music backgrounds.

Imagine all radio spins were used as sales in the 90s...
