"They are the most famous Céline Dion recordings that you’ve never heard. In the summer of 1995, at the height of her stardom, Dion went into the studio in Los Angeles with legendary producer Phil Spector to record tracks for her upcoming album Falling Into You. Paul Shaffer, the musical director on the Late Show with David Letterman, had called up Spector the year before and told him to watch that night’s show, which featured Dion singing River Deep, Mountain High, the classic Ike & Tina Turner hit produced by Spector.

The producer of hits by the Ronnettes, Crystals, the Beatles and the Ramones was immediately sold on Dion and so they ended up in the studio together the following year, along with the famous L.A. studio musicians known as The Wrecking Crew. But things went very badly between the notoriously bizarre Spector and the Dion team and soon after they dumped Spector as producer and went back to their regular producers, including David Foster. At one session, Spector had Dion singing the same song over and over again until the wee hours of the morning and the folks from Sony Music were in a fury, believing he could be harming her voice. Manager René Angélil also was not amused and he was the one who finally pulled the plug on the Spector project.

But there are apparently a couple of finished tracks from those sessions and Spector has threatened to release them, though that plan may be impeded by the fact that he’s serving 19-years-to-life sentence in a California prison for murder.

In 1996, he sent a lengthy letter to Entertainment Weekly blasting the Dion entourage. He described the other producers’ work on the album as “contrived and repugnant or nothing more than Whitney Houston- and Mariah Carey-rejected, soundalike songs … ‘produced’ by amateurs, students, and bad clones of yours truly.” He added: “You don’t tell Shakespeare what plays to write or how to write them.”

Some who’ve heard the tracks say they’re amongst the best songs ever recorded by Dion but there’s a good chance we’ll never hear them."

Everyone knows what a shame it is that we will never hear them. ^

We cannot miss what we have not heard, at least that's what I think!

I can miss the unreleased version in English of L'amour existe encore, or the Spanish version of Have You Ever Been In Love, because I can imagine how good they can be! Or I can even miss the unreleased songs for which at least the title was given to us, but songs we don't even know what's the name? I don't. The situation is almost as if they never existed, because we know nothing about them.

So they can say wonders and marvels about those Phil Spector songs, they've been doing the same for decades, and yet it's as if they don't say nothing at all... they don't even spill the music style, not even a title. Nosense.

At this point, this story has the same credibility as an urban legend.

This has got to be one of the most lengendary stories from her recordings sessions. Oh to have been a fly on the wall of those sessions.

Some who’ve heard the tracks say they’re amongst the best songs ever recorded by Dion but there’s a good chance we’ll never hear them."

. However we ALL want to hear then and decided one and for all if they are indeed some of the best work she's ever done.

"All 14 of the Dion sibs — baby Céline included — would perform at their mom and dad's piano bar back in the day, and there are stories of her singing songs on top of the family dinner table when she was barely out of Pampers."

No, from the official biography of Celine and Rene, the biography tell the desastrous ambianc with Celine and Phil. I recall my message post (with few corrections for my original message):

The sessions with Phil Spector has been desastrous. The last recording sessions, the producer has made Celine wait until 3 or 4h am. But, later durant that day, Celine turned the music video of Je sais pas (single of D'eux) and she had to be refresh. Dave Platel (the representant of Sony Canada at this time) then asked her when she would be ready so that she could record and leave for the sleep, for the turning of his music video. Phil, very angry, menacing Dave (the representant of Sony Canada) to push in the wall and fire on the person with his gun. Rene, witness of the scene, signed to Dave (the representor of Sony Canada) to take Celine off the studios. After Dave take off Celine to go outside, Rene annonced to Phil to not only Celine has never returned of the studios, but also, the three song has not included on the next album and at the end, Rene also say to that he would not allow anyone to treat his friends as well. And Rene has keep his words, the Falling into You album has not included the songs produces by Phil Spector
