Jeff Abbott Posted May 13, 2018 at 01:31 AM Posted May 13, 2018 at 01:31 AM (edited) Either that or we'll be calling it the worst winner ever (like every year) But yes, have fun ... almost time! so, what do you think? I know you really "loved" Israel. Edited May 13, 2018 at 01:32 AM by Jeff Abbott 1 Quote
Jeff Abbott Posted May 13, 2018 at 01:36 AM Posted May 13, 2018 at 01:36 AM (edited) So cool Cyprus and the Czech Republic got their best result ever. Glad to see Norway and Ireland flop. Also, I thought Estonia, Bulgaria and the Netherlands would be higher. Never expected to see Germany end up at #4. Edited May 13, 2018 at 01:43 AM by Jeff Abbott 2 Quote
Dancing_Queen Posted May 13, 2018 at 01:49 PM Posted May 13, 2018 at 01:49 PM My opinion: Those jury votes are just dumb...You can literally go from last place to first if the public so decides...so why waste time on a jury in the first place? Also, I've decided that from now on I'll be rooting for Sweden as a rule. The winner gets to organize the next edition and Sweden is apparently the only country that can put on a decent show (Petra Mede ❤) To be fair, Portugal tried and I actually liked the green room girl (she had spunk). But the whole thing was sorely lacking direction. Lastly, if this was the last thing I ever hear from that pretentious POS Salvador Sobral, it won't be a moment too soon. Quote
ErwinG Posted May 13, 2018 at 09:44 PM Posted May 13, 2018 at 09:44 PM so, what do you think? I know you really "loved" Israel. I am happy she won instead of Sweden or Norway ... but of course I would have wanted Cyprus to win it all ... happy as well to see Italy finishing at #5 overall So cool Cyprus and the Czech Republic got their best result ever. Glad to see Norway and Ireland flop. Also, I thought Estonia, Bulgaria and the Netherlands would be higher. Never expected to see Germany end up at #4. Austria & Germany finishing Top 5 was unheard of ... no one had them as favorites, so not sure how that happened ... Quote
ErwinG Posted May 13, 2018 at 10:01 PM Posted May 13, 2018 at 10:01 PM Waylon just called the Eurovision a "circus" and everyone is up in arms for his comments ... From wiwibloggs: After last night’s roller coaster of results, the Netherlands’ Waylon has reacted to his 18th place finish and Netta’s win. The country singer recalls the incredibly tense voting sequence, in which the juries and the televoters did not agree with each other at all, among many other surprises. He said:“I had hoped we would go top 10, but the results… Wow! That went weird… You could tell from the noise in the hall as well. Everyone was like: what is happening here? The right side of the scoreboard was suddenly at the left side. It was a very surprising evening. (…) The hall was wild during the night. Then something crazy happened with the United Kingdom. (…) It was heavy, but you have always got some idiots who want attention… it’s part of it all.” Waylon was not upset about his result.“I am currently feeling very proud of the thing we did. That we have got to do something in which we all believe fiercely. (…) There is definitely no disappointment. Of course you want to be first: that’s the most fun thing for the party it is, because you want to take it to the Netherlands after 43 years… I think you have to do it by stepping up and we’ve done that. (…) I thought we didn’t deserve this place… but it’s the place we’ve got… that’s okay.” Waylon told journalists that he would love to represent the Netherlands for a third time. Maybe Waylon 2022 then? However, he had the following advice for the next Dutch participant:“Keep doing your thing. We are a bunch of stubborn Hollanders and we have to give the example in tolerance, in loving each other and in doing something what you stand for. I think the Netherlands is such a country… I hope the Netherlands is such a country. At least, we did that and I am proud of that.” He was obviously referencing his own performance. He included a group of four krump dancers, which proved to be wildly controversial. Waylon tried to explain that the dancers represented the “outlaw of dance” while standing firm on his decisions. Waylon was not that keen on Israel winning. He sees Netta as an embodiment of the “freak show” stigma that’s often attached to Eurovision. He said:“Israel is the rightful winner if we talk about what we are always talking about: the circus and the craziness. But what I just said, it will not add up to much change in [that type of] Eurovision. And that’s what I think is sad. Something should change one time. Last time, it was a woman with a beard, now it’s a chicken.” In a way, he agrees with last year’s winner Salvador Sobral. Earlier this week he said that he hoped Israel would not win for the sake of music.Speaking to wiwibloggs yesterday, Salvador said: “It’s going to be a bit strange if I have to give the trophy to Israel.” Quote
ErwinG Posted May 13, 2018 at 10:52 PM Posted May 13, 2018 at 10:52 PM The story that the final points overall tells is such dramatic view: Israel 529Cyprus 436Austria 342Germany 340Italy 308Czech Republic 281Sweden 274Estonia 245Denmark 226Moldova 209Albania 184Lithuania 181France 173Bulgaria 166Norway 144Ireland 136Ukraine 130Netherlands 121Serbia 113Australia 99Hungary 93Slovenia 64Spain 61United Kingdom 48Finland 46Portugal 39 Portugal won in 2017, then came last this yearSpain has been at the bottom end of the score for the past 4 years ... what would they need to do to improve?Finland was favorite all over and yet came in 2nd from bottom - jokes are that Saara like to be 2nd of anything ...UK - the only one who helped was Lucie Jones who came in at #15 last year, but the UK as Spain has been at the bottom for the past years as wellAustralia - got jury votes despite a lack-luster performance; while the public did not vote for her and she ended lower than the other participants of AustraliaSweden got #ss-licked by the national jury members, but the public despised the song and did not vote for them; however, because of the jury votes ended at #7 1 Quote

I dislike this whole way of giving out the points!! I much rather have them combine the jury votes and the public votes combined to one!! And then just let them give out the top 2 points! It isn't really exciting this way... all those big votes at the end! Because the jury votes don't mean anything if 1 country can get 300 points at once. I really disliked Sweden this year. The act was TOO, too slick, too overproduced, no soul! I was very happy to see that the public saw that too and axed them for it! But I do agree, this year was boring!! The Portugal clips were not funny and the musical intermezzo's were blegh. :mdr: on your last comment tho!! So cool Cyprus and the Czech Republic got their best result ever. Glad to see Norway and Ireland flop. Also, I thought Estonia, Bulgaria and the Netherlands would be higher. Never expected to see Germany end up at #4. I was surprised we were even in the finals, so I think 18th place is still pretty good. Norway was annoying as hell, so good riddence! Ireland only was popular cos of the act/message. But vocally he was not strong at all and off key a lot! I am happy she won instead of Sweden or Norway ... but of course I would have wanted Cyprus to win it all ... happy as well to see Italy finishing at #5 overall Austria & Germany finishing Top 5 was unheard of ... no one had them as favorites, so not sure how that happened ... Spain has been at the bottom end of the score for the past 4 years ... what would they need to do to improve? I really don't get why Italia got so much points! I didn't really like the song, despite the message. And a big ZERO points for not including Dutch in the lyrics that were shown! (Also German was only showed once, that was weird as well, as French and English were used a lot). Talking about those lyrics, I thought those graphics you could only see on tv (like the instruments of Norway) really, really stupid!! I like the fact that Austria and Germany got so high! Might not have been favourites, but they had good singing and a quality song! I don't know why the UK got such a bad place, cos I thought it was a good song and the crowed really loved it! What Spain has to do, is send in a good act with a good song!! this was cute, but sh!te in the end!! And last but not least... I still think that countries like UK, Spain, France etc. should perform in the semi finals. It's not fair they don't get the same amount of airtime as the others. OK they pay for most of it, that's why they are in the finals anyway, but in order to win, they should have more air time than only 45 seconds. 99% won't watch the full performance online! 1 Quote http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v75/daveyh84/incognito198701_zpsaaootxh1.jpgRick, ik hou van jou voor altijd!A New Day... has come 28/29 April & 2/3 May 07Antwerpen 13 et 14 mai,Paris 24 et 25 mai, Amsterdam 2 juinet Arras 7 juillet Chances Taken!!!How Do You Keep The Music Playing? - Celine Opening Night March 15th, March 16th

ErwinG Posted May 19, 2018 at 01:18 AM Posted May 19, 2018 at 01:18 AM It's been almost a week now ... it was a great show, good music and a good result! Israel is already planning for next year, even though there are many countries thinking to boycott the contest ... I am sure we'll hear more about that in the coming months! Quote
Boy Posted May 19, 2018 at 11:09 AM Posted May 19, 2018 at 11:09 AM Honestly, with all due respect, I'll never fathom how some people take this contest in a very serious manner, like it's a war they need to win. That especially concerns Russia. These days they blame that poor creature like she lost a war to Hitler. I mean, c'mon, sending that girl was like a sick joke in the first place and the song is mediocre in the second place. For me personally ESC is a boring thing with mostly boring songs, but I do understand that it's actually a fun event where people can entertain and cheer, but fight all over it... Anyway. With all the glitz and illumination and stuff I understand why it became so popular with gays all over the world Quote Love comes to those who believe it...
