ErwinG Posted May 21, 2017 at 05:18 PM Author Posted May 21, 2017 at 05:18 PM So close ... yet so far: First Semi-Final: Georgia Georgia placed 11th in the first Semi-Final. Keep The Faith, performed by Tamara Gachechiladze received 62 points from the juries and 37 from the televote. However her overall score of 99 points wasn't enough to take her to the Grand Final this year. The 10th place went to Greece's Demy with 115 points. Poland's Kasia Moś was ranked 11th with the juries in the first Semi-Final. Her song Flashlight received 50 points however a strong televoting score (69 points) saw her make it through to the Grand Final. Montenegro's Slavko Kalezić finished 11th with the public with 39 points but failed to impress the juries who awarded him just 17 points for his performance of Space. Whilst disappointed, Slavko was happy with his performance and loved his Eurovision experience. He revealed that he has several exciting new projects lined up and credits the Eurovision Song Contest with helping to raise his profile internationally. Second Semi-Final: SerbiaSerbia's Tijana Bogićević finished 11th in the second Semi-Final with her song In Too Deep. She was narrowly beaten by Anja from Denmark who finished 10th with 101 points ahead of Serbia's final score of 98 (53 points from the juries and 45 points from the televote). Switzerland's Timebelle finished 11th with the juries, receiving 48 points whilst Serbia's Tijana also finished 11th in the televote. After the show the singer was said to be very satisfied with her performance, but of course, she was not happy about not making through the final. Failing to reach the Grand Final is inevitably disappointing, however, the harsh truth is that there can only be ten qualifiers. As San Marino's Valentina Monetta proved, persistence can be a key to success; she qualified for the Grand Final in 2014 with her third consecutive attempt. To quote the famous Johnny Logan song, what's another year? Quote
