Former country music child star Billy Gilman will perform "I Surrender" on "The Voice" tonight! Song is available for streaming on Apple Music or for purchase on iTunes NOW:

He actually does quite a good job on this, and it's one of the first covers of the song that I've liked A LOT. It's strange though, to hear the arrangement similar to Céline's album version without the big "curtain drop" moment during the first chorus. Haha. Second verse and second chorus is chopped up a little bit, but the bridge into the final chorus is pretty epic.

I have seen kids performing the song which makes me cringe. Such a dramatic content of forbidden love, it is ridiculous to have kids sing such lyrics.

Personally I thought that version of TSMGO was awful. Yeah he has a great range but it was all show and no feeling.

It wasn't Céline, but MANY people have covered the song and only Billy's and Kelly Clarkson's have been acceptable, and I thought Billy did a good job.

i think it is never a good idea to sing a Celine song. you can't beat her. . But since young people did not hear it by Celine , maybe it won't be a problem for him , and it's good for Celine for publicity . I think he copies a little too much there, and he has not the projection , he seems to aspire his words sometimes. A little pitchy .

It's a big song to perform. He did a good job and he pulled it off. Most times I've seen someone cover Celine in competitions like this they fall flat and it's embarrassing

For a singing show, I am actually so impressed. That song is not easy to do and he totally pulled it off. What impressed me the most is the long sustained notes, those were so smooth. The curtain drop was interesting too.

He did great! He found very interesting variations of the melodic lines and sustained incredibly well the big belts. Don't forget this is an extremely hard song to sing and he pulled it off LIVE (when our beloved one does it playback... And In A new day.. and in Céline😉😉😉)

To be honest, I don't think he sounds great, he is screaming all the time more than singing and he is offkey a few moments.... when he sings with a smooth voice, he sounds great but when he pushes his voice

The studio version of I Surrender is untouchable! Among her best vocal and more emotional performances Celine has delivered. I think people should not touch this song...

When I heard it first, I was quite amazed. But now...

 

First he doesn't have a "specific" voice, then the long note is "just" a long note... I mean he just opened his mouth and scream as long as he could with his voice cracking at some points.

it was unbearable to listen to. thin voice, very whiny like a cat being strangled sometimes, off key on some notes, his transitions from the lower to the higher notes are so painful to the ear. same was with his show must go on. and his tone is so empty, hollow, nothing. a voice like his is not suitable to belt power songs.

Hmmm the reason I think that ending is tasteless has nothing to do with the number of musicians on stage

It's about the choices they made. It's hard to explain when you don't hear it just listening to it.

Regardless of how awful his rendition is, because in my opinion it is, lol...Celine's version is charting in the top 200 iTunes in the USA currently at #181.

 

And her album A New Day Has Come is in the top 200 pop albums.

 

Good publicity regardless.

Why so much hate on people covers Celine song??? To me this is the best male cover version for me!

There's a young teen boy covered the song on youtube & pretty much the same key as Celine but he's too young to fully understand the song also he doesn't really speak English so yeah! Billy's the best male version!!

Did any of u watched him did adeles songs?? It was really good!

I hope Billy wins this season though!

I think it's fantastic that someone covered Celine Dion on The Voice. AND it was by the front-runner of this season: Billy Gilman. AND it was the best performance of the night. AND it was the best performance thus far of the season. AND it was on a same episode that another contestant covered Whitney Houston.

 

Sometimes I feel like I live in a Celine bubble and it's nice to know that she is still remembered and recognized as such a huge talent outside of us hardcore fans.

 

Celine Dion = One Of The Best Vocalists In History

 

I would love it if Celine makes another appearance on The Voice!
