DionFanAlways Posted February 5, 2016 at 02:50 AM Posted February 5, 2016 at 02:50 AM I just watched the end again and I think it's funny that she leads a bow. I think some things are just so ingrained in her that it is second nature. Such a good speech in English and such emotion in English. I know I shouldn't be surprised about that but somehow it does surprise me. Does that make sense? 3 Quote I have had the time of my life following this woman! Much love.
alvick53 Posted February 5, 2016 at 03:42 AM Posted February 5, 2016 at 03:42 AM I'm a little upset that they set the video tribute to 'I Knew I Loved You' to close out the event (even tough it was a perfect song for the occasion). I really liked that song. To me it was always such a beautiful, powerful, simple song and I got chills every time I heard it. But now when i hear it all I think of is that video and how heartbreaking losing Rene has been and I start crying! It came on my iPod when I was in the middle of work today and as soon as it started I started crying. Like seriously crying! My co-workers kept looking at me like I'd lost my mind! I had to go outside till I had calmed down. 1 Quote
CynthiaTDL Posted February 5, 2016 at 04:06 AM Posted February 5, 2016 at 04:06 AM Hello, all my fellow Celine addicts. It has been such a long time since my last posting in this Forum. I have missed you all; but I have been reading everyone's posts. I thought that the celebration for Rene' last evening was done in such good taste and style (Great job Celine!!!). Most people would think that sitting for three hours listening to people sharing their memories of Rene', would be boring, but that WAS NOT the case. Each speaker was so elegant and showed their great love for Rene', and shared some interesting memories of him in each of their lives. The little known facts and stories they told were wonderful and how Rene' spoke about Celine and how he would always sing praises to her and his unending love for her which will last through eternity.. The music that Celine had chosen to be played by four stringed instruments and a piano, were some of Rene's favorite songs that Celine has sung. At the end of the show when all the speakers had finished, Robin Leach gave such an amazing recount of Rene' and Celine's generosity, love of family, friends and fans; when that concluded our Queen got up from her seat and stood at the podium and spoke of Rene' and his love for all individuals. Celine spoke about watching "The Price is Right" with Rene' and how he would cry when the individual won the Show Case and Celine would say "We have to Talk, as she gave her famous facial expressions. Celine made us laugh, cry, and remember our own encounters with Rene'. Celine shed some new light into their relationship over the years, and even disclosed some of her minor faults compared to him and his opinions. Then there was that great music that they both loved, and was played at certain intervals throughout the evening; it was perfectly suited to the pictures that played on the large screen above the stage of their tender embraces over their lives. Yes, Celine did try to hold it all together, but there were tears that could not be held back. At the end of Celine's precious speech, as she looked to the Heavens, tears in her eyes, she spoke to Rene' and told him that "She loved him, so very very much". There was a sculpture of Rene's hand that was set into a wooden base, and as each speaker spoke, they would touch it and have a moment of silence. The family (Celine, RC, Rene's other grown children, and his brother) gathered around the statuette and wrapped one of their hands around one of the fingers on the hand. To say the least, it was an emotional celebration, and I wouldn't have missed it for the world. My great love to you Celine and your family, and as I do every evening, my prays for you are always sent with love to GOD. 1 Quote CynthiaTDL
Angel2006 Posted February 5, 2016 at 06:17 AM Posted February 5, 2016 at 06:17 AM Seeing all of this footage from Rene's funeral and his celebration of life shows just how symbolic Rene and Celine truly are. There is so much meaning for them in every little detail, from Celine arriving to Rene's funeral at 20 after three and the giving of the wedding rings, to the gold mold of Rene's hand and the shadow of the heart representing Rene's lucky 5 of hearts playing card. It is all so touching. There love goes so deep. We have always known this, but it truly shows just how deep there there goes for each other when you see that they have special little meaning behind everything. It shows how connected they were and how connected they will always be. I have never known a love so special and deeply connected as there love is. I keep thinking of Celine's most recent press conference before coming back to her Vegas show. Celine said that she could feel Rene with her, that she would feel him onstage with her. I am just thinking to myself that if she could feel him with her when he was still alive and they weren't even in the same building together, just imagine how much she could feel him now. Celine and Rene are spiritual people with such a strong bond for each other. A love and presence that strong doesn't just go away. I know she must feel him and sense him with her alot. That comforts me. I thought that everyone's speeches were very touching and from the heart. It really showed just how admired and loved Rene really was. Not just by his family, but by everyone he came in contact with. One of my favorite parts was the story about Rene not letting anyone pay for anything. I liked how in that speech there were funny moments that made Celine and RC laugh and you could see a glimmer of the Celine we know and love. I cherish every moment when she smiles now more then ever before. Even if she's happy and can forget about her pain for 2 seconds it makes me happy. I also loved how Celine chose to share just how loving of a heart Rene had, not just for Celine but for everyone he came in contact with. It was important for Celine to let everyone know that quality about Rene because I think that is one of the many reasons she fell in love with him. It is incredibly rare to have no judgement for a person. People judge other people all the time. If you think about it, it's sounds impossible not to have one bad opinion about someone or something. Rene loved everyone and that is truly rare. I think that quality in Rene touched Celine's life deeply and she tries to reflect those same values in her daily life simply from admiration and respect of witnessing such a pure heart. It inspired her to be a better human being. I think Celine chose to share this quality about Rene because it was probably the biggest life lesson he ever taught her. I think, in sharing these values it also inspires others to try and live in a world where there in no judgment because life is to precious and beautiful to waste time on the silly little things. I thought Celine's speech was very inspirational and moving. Especially near the end when her pain was out there for everyone to see. Celine could barely get those last words out. I felt that her pain was so deep and raw at that moment. I just wanted to give her a great big hug. Everyone's speeches were so moving and seeing all this has helped me to heal. Knowing that Celine was willing to be so very open to share these intimate moments with her fans touches me more then she will even know. That being said, I am glad this is all over with now. Celine doesn't have to go to anymore functions for at least 18 days and she can just take it easy, start to heal with her family and start to begin the grieving process. 2 Quote
drove all night Posted February 5, 2016 at 08:17 AM Posted February 5, 2016 at 08:17 AM This gem needs to be sung again, it's one of her most authentic English songs. And it will remain timeless. The crazy thing is: David wrote it for his own marriage with Linda in 1991, but they split in 2005. And all his other three marriages didn't last either. So I think that gem of a song was unconsciously always intened to be Céline's and René's. As I heard it for the first time way back then I was convinced that David wrote it for Céline and I was really astonished as I found out the truth about that song. 3 Quote

I thought Linda's speech was indeed a bit long although it did touch me how generous Rene was and that he made opportunity centre possible. In all these speeches we got to know Rene so much better and they all praised him for being such a generous, kind, loyal and wonderful person. It was funny to hear how much he loved food and ordered whole menucards. And it was uplifting to see Celine laugh now and then about certain quotes. One thing i wondered; who was the older angelil guy at the end of the seats ( grey suit) he looked quite old. CelineIloilo Posted February 5, 2016 at 10:45 AM Posted February 5, 2016 at 10:45 AM https://youtu.be/e8c4GXaAFFM It was all I imagined her speech to be like.Talked about the simple things they do together. How he influenced her and made her the person she is today. how thankful she is for that. How he made everything easy for her by making sure her focus remains on her job which is singing and he took all the stress and work as the manager, as the husband who loves her wife. He gave her the best career, the best people not only in her career but outside of her career too. Lastly, he gave her the best gift, the gift of life by bearing her 3 lovely children, making her complete as a woman, more than just as a wife or as a singer. He gave her something to keep her going when the day comes that he would no longer be there in presence, he would still be in spirit to keep her grounded. Keep her always wanting to go home, where their fruit of love is... in his children. Celine sees all of this, and realizes how everything went perfectly just as his love was for her. Perfection. 4 Quote CELINE DION IS THE BEST. THE ONE, THE ONLY, PERFECTION.

I held her hands and told her, “The dark clouds will pass, and the sun will shine again.”She told me, smiling: “And if the sun isn’t there, I will find a spotlight to sing.” I told her son Rene-Charles, who celebrated his 15th birthday just a week ago, that he had to be the rock and support for the family and live up to the promise he made at the Montreal funeral that he would live and show his younger twin brothers, Nelson and Eddy, the same standards his father had taught him.He promised that he would, and looking him in the eyes, I knew that he meant it. Rene-Charles will be the extraordinary young man as his father wanted. There were 11 of us speakers. Downstairs in Celine’s dressing room below the stage, we were given a five of hearts — his lucky number and suit —playing card with Rene’s autograph as a souvenir. Coincidentally, shadows of microphones on Celine’s off-the-shoulder black dress looked like the five of hearts.Celine ordered 3,000 cookies baked by Opportunity Village with Rene’s portrait on the cellophane wrapper for guest to take home along with the playing card."[...]"Celine plans to return to sing just as Rene wanted her to on Feb. 23. Celine told me she will be there on the stage: “It will be very difficult, but I will continue without him for him. It’s what he wanted, and I will fulfill that promise I made to him.”" Edited February 5, 2016 at 01:49 PM by scielle 15 Quote
