I think it would be better to open a new topic for this event so that we could share our thoughts and comments.

In addition, a Celebration of Life will be held in Las Vegas on February 3, 2016 at the Caesars Palace Colosseum from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.

It's been rumored that this celebration will consist on a special concert by Celine, but I'm not sure...

Tournée Européenne in Paris (December 1, 2013)

Céline Dion Live 2016 in Antwerp (June 20, 2016)

Céline Dion Live 2017 in Birmingham (July 27, 2017)

Where did you hear this?

In my opinion, it'll be a concert with sharing memories sth like 1f4t where we had songs + interviews. I doubt that it will be Celine performing, I mean it's possible that she will sing but only 1 or 2 songs, but it could be a concert with others performing (Garou, Veronic, Josh Groban, Marc Dupre, etc).

I hope they'll show it on TV. I really hope so. After all, it'll be American goodbye to Rene.

I think it's more likely that this will be a reception with some speakers, photos, videos, etc. with the proceeds going to a charity in Rene's name.

If it´s Celebration of life for Rene I´m sure Céline will sing at least few songs, for sure it will be difficult for her but it will be same at regular concerts.

If she does sing I hope she would include a few upbeat songs. Music heals the soul and while I think some sentimental songs would be warranted, if it's about celebrating Rene, why not do some upbeat songs that he enjoyed. I know he loves RDMH.

Other possible choices:

Just A Little Bit of Love

I'm Alive

A New Day Has Come

One Heart

Unfinished Songs

I've been wondering if this will be open to the public, as well, and if so, if tickets will be needed or how exactly it will work.

I'm interested in going, but it's a good 4 hour drive for me and I'd like to know if I could even get in before driving half a day.

I don't like the idea of Celine singing any of these songs, especially ''I'm Alive'' since Rene just passed away. The contradiction is big! I also doubt she is feeling alive now. Edited by LukeD

Highly doubt any of these would be sung...

Also, this event is 10 days away, Céline will be in Montreal until Tuesday or Wednesday I would imagine... This will likely be an invite-only type of thing. If they were going to sell tickets, they would need to put them on sale already...

"I know what love is" would be a tear fest. Those words have new meaning now.

" I will fall, you will catch me always, straight up to my hearts highest wish, I feel YOU close to me and I know what love is"

But I don't think Cèline will sing, but who knows.

I think there is no way she will sing that song again. Could be wrong, but it would be way to emotional.

Pqtme will be more emotional than usual too, but of course that will have to be performed.

I wouldn't be too surprised if it is. I mean, if they streamed the funeral...(which, by the way, I felt was a terrible move and struck many, myself included, as being in really poor taste).

But if this is indeed a celebration / memorial concert of sorts, then I don't think streaming it would be inappropriate.

This might well be something Rene planned as well. I suspect it may have been his way of letting Celine slowly transition back into performing, rather than jumping straight into a full-on, regular show (we know what happened the night her Dad passed away - that one did not go well and I think Rene wanted to avoid her putting herself in that situation again). Doing something that's clearly intended as an event of remembrance would let her make those first difficult steps and pay musical tribute to him in a context that's separate from a regular show. It would let her get back in to the routine without making the regular show all about mourning him.

Well a national funeral means a public funeral (streamed or not)...

poor taste would be if they didn't show nothing and paparazzi would go after them everywhere just to catch a glimpse of everything.

This, however, was done perfectly, in a very classy, respectful taste. And, sharing it with all of us, only means that they care about us too because Celine is not like any other star. Do you know Madonna's, Shania's or whoever siblings, mother, husband, child that well? Through the years they have become also a part of our love for Celine. So, in order to share our grief, pay our respects to Rene and show our support to Celine I think it was the best decision. They just realise that not only are we crazy fans of Celine's songs but also fans of herself, her family and values she represents.

I totally agree, I think the fact that she shares so much is quite clever to be honest. She, more often than not, beats the press to the punch, making it very difficult to scandalize the things happening in her life. I'm sure I read somewhere that announcing her pregnancy with RC so quickly was so she could share the news herself, and not allow the press to do it for her.

A lot of people often say she has no control over her life, but honestly, being an open book and sharing everything herself, gives her an enormous amount of power over her life. The press can't dig up any skeletons, because everything they might be interested in writing about, she has already shared, so in a way, she's almost controlling how the story is portrayed in the media.

Whether it was her decision or not to stream the funeral, I think it was the right one for her, hers and Rene's children and grandchildren. It was going to be the lesser of two evils. Either have a set amount of cameras, set up, filming, in a way that you have agreed is acceptable, giving all media outlets the same footage, or have 100's of cameras trying to catch a glimpse, pushing and shoving, getting in their faces, and scaring the twins, to get the most valuable picture.

Even so, she did what was right for her, her family, and more importantly, her late husband, and that's the bottom line. Whether we agree or not, it was her decision, and nobody knows what's right for Celine and her family, but Celine.

None of these are good to sing IMO. I'm Alive? A New Day? That gives her no time to mourn.

Yes, these are not good choices.

Yes, these are not good choices.

So the obvious choice then is to sing much more depressing songs that she could barely get through.

It's called "celebration" of life for a reason. I've been to them before. They are joyous and uplifting to celebrate the life that was lived by someone. It's not the funeral, part two.

Still think that I'm alive it's not a good one. A new day can fit. In fact this event have been arranged some time ago. Possibly by Rene (or/with Aldo)

Soon we will see their choices
