anewdayhascome Posted January 24, 2016 at 04:27 PM Author Posted January 24, 2016 at 04:27 PM (edited) In my opinion, it'll be a concert with sharing memories sth like 1f4t where we had songs + interviews. I doubt that it will be Celine performing, I mean it's possible that she will sing but only 1 or 2 songs, but it could be a concert with others performing (Garou, Veronic, Josh Groban, Marc Dupre, etc). I hope they'll show it on TV. I really hope so. After all, it'll be American goodbye to Rene. scielle Posted January 24, 2016 at 11:43 PM Posted January 24, 2016 at 11:43 PM Hope they do a live stream! I wouldn't be too surprised if it is. I mean, if they streamed the funeral...(which, by the way, I felt was a terrible move and struck many, myself included, as being in really poor taste). But if this is indeed a celebration / memorial concert of sorts, then I don't think streaming it would be inappropriate. This might well be something Rene planned as well. I suspect it may have been his way of letting Celine slowly transition back into performing, rather than jumping straight into a full-on, regular show (we know what happened the night her Dad passed away - that one did not go well and I think Rene wanted to avoid her putting herself in that situation again). Doing something that's clearly intended as an event of remembrance would let her make those first difficult steps and pay musical tribute to him in a context that's separate from a regular show. It would let her get back in to the routine without making the regular show all about mourning him. 4 Quote

I think the fact the whole world got to pay respects in a way to Rene was a great thing. We got pay respects and share emotions with each other all while getting to see that Celine and Rene adored each other. Without being there physically the world got to be there for Celine. And myself, I think it was a genius move they made by opening this to the public. If she wasn't Celine Dion the star but instead Jane Doe and her husband had passed away, everybody would be invited into the church to pay respects so the fact that she is a superstar shouldn't change that. For those two days of the wake and funeral she wasn't Celine Dion the superstar singer, she was Celine Angelil the wife, mother and daughter. 13 Quote

anewdayhascome Posted January 25, 2016 at 01:24 PM Author Posted January 25, 2016 at 01:24 PM poor taste would be if they didn't show nothing and paparazzi would go after them everywhere just to catch a glimpse of everything. This, however, was done perfectly, in a very classy, respectful taste. And, sharing it with all of us, only means that they care about us too because Celine is not like any other star. Do you know Madonna's, Shania's or whoever siblings, mother, husband, child that well? Through the years they have become also a part of our love for Celine. So, in order to share our grief, pay our respects to Rene and show our support to Celine I think it was the best decision. They just realise that not only are we crazy fans of Celine's songs but also fans of herself, her family and values she represents. 7 Quote A New Day... 10th & 11th November 2006 Taking Chances World Tour, Antwerp 13th & 14th May 2008, Kraków 28th June 2008 Celine 25th & 27th & 31st August 2013 20th, 23rd, 24th, 27th & 28th September 2016 Sans attendre Tour, Paris 1st & 5th December 2013 Encore un soir, Paris 24th, 25th, 28th, 29th June & 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th, 9th July 2016 Live 2017 Stockholm 17th June 2017 Lille 1st & 2nd July 2017 Paris 8th & 9th July 2017 Berlin 23rd & 24th July 2017 Live 2018 Taipei 11th & 13th July 2018 Manila 19th July 2018 Bangkok 23rd July 2018 BST Hyde Park London 5 July 2019

They just realise that not only are we crazy fans of Celine's songs but also fans of herself, her family and values she represents. I totally agree, I think the fact that she shares so much is quite clever to be honest. She, more often than not, beats the press to the punch, making it very difficult to scandalize the things happening in her life. I'm sure I read somewhere that announcing her pregnancy with RC so quickly was so she could share the news herself, and not allow the press to do it for her. A lot of people often say she has no control over her life, but honestly, being an open book and sharing everything herself, gives her an enormous amount of power over her life. The press can't dig up any skeletons, because everything they might be interested in writing about, she has already shared, so in a way, she's almost controlling how the story is portrayed in the media. Whether it was her decision or not to stream the funeral, I think it was the right one for her, hers and Rene's children and grandchildren. It was going to be the lesser of two evils. Either have a set amount of cameras, set up, filming, in a way that you have agreed is acceptable, giving all media outlets the same footage, or have 100's of cameras trying to catch a glimpse, pushing and shoving, getting in their faces, and scaring the twins, to get the most valuable picture. Even so, she did what was right for her, her family, and more importantly, her late husband, and that's the bottom line. Whether we agree or not, it was her decision, and nobody knows what's right for Celine and her family, but Celine. 6 Quote

It's called "celebration" of life for a reason. I've been to them before. They are joyous and uplifting to celebrate the life that was lived by someone. It's not the funeral, part two.
