2016 Tour - setlist wishlists

I was just teasin'. LOL

In all honesty, though, I'm not thrilled by the idea of importing the "Funk Medley" to her French shows. There is a very small number of English songs which are "required" for all her shows. Those being "My Heart Will Go On," "The Power Of Love," "It's All Coming Back To Me Now," "Because You Loved Me" and maybe "All By Myself." Other than those, I see absolutely zero reason to include the other material when she has other French material which would fit better.

As for songs from "D'elles," I think the majority of them could work well. Keep in mind, Celine now has Scott Price working with her. I firmly believe he could make anything from her catalog shine far better than Mego ever did.

I just love her renditions of the Funk Medley and The Show Must Go On and would love any opportunity to see her do them live! Good point re: Scott Price as he absolutely surprised me with what he was able to do for the Vegas show. Even the subtle changes he made to the songs that remained (LCMM/RDMH/etc.) were refreshing.

I re-listened to the "D'elles" album today and am still not totally sold on these songs working live. If I had to pick, I love "A cause," but I think "On s'est aime a cause" would work better... "Je cherche l'ombre" could be a good addition as "Je crois toi" was during the last tour. "Lettre de George Sand a Alfred de Musset" could be interesting and unexpected too. I know a lot of people like "La diva," but I've never been a huge fan. Of the "uptempos," my vote would be for "Femme come chacune"...

I love making these kind of lists and I put a lot of effort into putting it together. I made a setlist for Belgium/France and for Canada. I kept the SA tour format in mind: about 5 new songs. I based these setlist on the HITS Céline had in Belgium, France and Canada. I took out all the over played songs, or the ones that were performed during recent tours. Of course "there are some songs that will not go away"

For the first setlist I choose the songs that made it to the top 20 in at least one of the countries. First position is Belgium, second one France. The setlist for Canada was a lot more difficult, as she has soooo many top 20 hits there in the early stages of her career! The songs either got to the Québec Chart, the Top Singles (all genres) or Adult Contemporary.

The show should start with a video introduction compilation of amazing highlights out of Céline's career. Make the people think: DAMN this woman achieved SO much! I can't believe I forgot so many of these glorious moments, and make people proud they are attending a Céline concert. They can even use a remix of Danse Un Autre Monde for all I care, as long as the video is overwhelming!

There's one D'elles song in both lists and one D'Elles song in the European setlist, that I think would be AMAZING live! The first one is Je Suis Pas Celle, I got this song stuck in my head a while ago, and I think it could be haunting, like Je Crois Toi was. The second one is Le Temps Qui Compte, this song is unlifting and meaningful, a good replacement for Destin. Another song that is still there is The Power Of Love, but seeing the 1994 live version from Japan recently, I think it would be AMAZING to have this song in FULL again, with a bit of improvisation! No medleys except a mash up with Love Can Move Mountains.

Also to avoid the last song curse (in French) I thought it would be best to start the show with Pour Que Tu M'Aimes Encore. Betting on the new JJ single being a big hit, it should be at the end of the show. And of course, with all that is happening in the world, I think singing Quand On N'A Que L'Amour would be the best ending to the show! I will include the new songs, once the album is out

Of course if goes without saying they should record the European shows for DVD/Blu-ray and record the songs in Canada as bonus! Audio AND video! :shifty:

If anyone would be so kind to pass this on to Aldo, then I would be a very happy man :blushing1:

Love the work you put into that Davey.

I agree that opening with a new video montage of Celine through the years would be very exciting to watch. And then to start with PQTME, this is a fresh idea, much like what they did with MHWGO for the Millennium.

I love the idea of Have A Heart in Canada, but I'd use the occasion to mix it with the original French version (Partout Je Te Vois)

I might be over complicating the technology, but I don't see them really using any holograms though, as I doubt its technically feasible in a venue unless its carefully aligned as it can be in Las Vegas. But to have a hologram of Barbra performing Tell Him with Celine :wub:

You were pretty ruthless with the usual suspects and I applaud you for it. This is certainly a great setlist that ticks a lot of boxes. And as for that closing segment... :cry: :clap:

Thanks John, I just hope that somewhere someone will read it and think, OH there are some good ideas in this setlist, let's use that instead of Destin for the zillionth time.

I was thinking about that, but PJTV and HAH have a different meaning, so I don't think that will work out very well.

Hollograms are becoming more and more part of shows, so I think they could pull it off But can they get Barbra to make a hollogram? We all know Garou would be live on stage each night for only a hot meal

IMO they should be ruthless for a change and make a NEW Fresh setlist and not copy paste from previous shows...

Le blues du businessman. PLEASE! She needs to redeem that song after the god awful 2005 performance. Her voice was never worse. She could do that song much better now.

I'm still hoping for 2/3 french, but I must say, since I'm forcing my sister to go with me and she barely likes celine anyway (and definitely isn't excited about it being mostly french) I hope the selection of English songs is decent and songs she would know. I'd rather be surprised with a rarity like falling into you that she wouldn't know then have her hear lcmm which she also wouldn't know.

As for French songs. I hope they continue with the progress they made in 2013 on putting together a proper french show. After years of half #ss french shows they finally put some effort in on some oldies. I hope thy continue to do that, while also giving respect to the new album. I agree Destin and DUAM need to go. It was refreshing to see Terre and regarde moi back. Maybe we can say the same about Zora sourit and a few other songs like delivre-moi yeah I am sure I'm butchering all these spellings. Forgive that. I also like the idea Davey had about think twice in belgium!! But let's not hold our breath on that. I'll be excited just to have lmbtl or even taking chances in place of incredible. If barney has to have a duet let's put Batb in there. At least it's 2 minutes and done...

Although I don't understand every single word, "Je chanterai" might be a good addition to the setlist. Not one of my favourites though, but it might be a good track if that's the message she wants to send out after everything that has happened.

Just imagined spotlight on piano as song starts. Then spotlight on celine as she starts, then all the lights on when the band join in. Just thought it would be a fun, happier start, and would make a change from DUAM!

Hi everyone!

I have added to this forum a few days ago and this is my first opinion. Trying to be a bit realistic about the setlist for the upcoming concerts, (since we all know most french songs Celine will never sing live) I list my own list.

I also think she won't make new versions with different musical figures as piano or guitar solos, or uptempo new versions. Some years ago I'd have loved a "pour que tu m'aimes encore" solo guitar, for exemple, but I have understood Celine and her team treat to create songs identical to CD versions and no matter how much time passes by between a tour and the other one, the same old songs are sung with the same old sound: the original one, trying to be as similar as possible to the CD version, and as a fan, I think this is a mark of her. At least she makes medleys and I hope she will make several ones this time, in order to offer as many songs as she can.

4) Sous le vent (with hologram/on-screen of Garou)

5) Stripped down piano-medley. Céline, Scott and some strings (as in René’s celebration of life). Short versions of:

- L‘amour existe encore

- Ziggy (Un garçon pas comme les autres)

- Immensité

- Because you loved me

- Prière païenne (whole song, band kicks in)

i'm revising her 80's, if the tour is a greatest hits tour would be nice to have some rare tracks from that time

in my opinion comment t aimer is one of her most powerful ballads from her french career, and could work today, with current arrangements, who know if they release a live a live album by the end of the year, and this could be the promo song

I was thinking, and I'd love a medley of old French songs! I came up with four that I think would work quite nicely. I was thinking L'amour Viendra/Quelqu'un qui m'aime, Quelqu'un qui j'aime/Mon ami a ma quite/Elle. I know it 90% won't happen, but one can always dream!
