Popular Post G Kay London Posted April 17, 2015 Popular Post Posted April 17, 2015 Hey everyone I’m a singer songwriter from London and some time ago, I happened to find myself in a songwriting session with Chris Neil (Think Twice, Where Does My Heart Beat Now….) … He wanted to pitch a song I’d written to Celine - we had the label’s backing but unfortunately (for me), she suddenly decided to change directions and go for a different sound which was inspired by Adele’s massive trans-galactic success … and that turned into her album Loved Me Back To Life… whilst me and my song were sent packing, back to London and the unwashed masses… If you have a moment, have a listen to the demo and tell me what you think .. I’d written it after reading an article interview in which she described her ordeal in trying to conceive with IVF and how terrifying the tension could be .. in it, she mentioned something about the doctor scanning her belly for a sign of “little hearts - little beats” … which inspired the song … it’s been sat on my shelves gathering dust and I really wanted it to live somewhere other than my bedroom … Hope you like it! thanks in advance! She sang something like this before. Many times. I also feel that songs like this keep her pigeonholed forever. That song is catchy and different. I rarely like a song when I hear it for the very first time and Just One Look made me smile and totally caught my heart! I’ve just realised this thread is about me!! haha … I didn’t realise my post had been successful … thank you so much for the feedback and all the kind words (also love the fact that any mildly negative comment came with an apology - Celine fans = pure class!)To answer some of your questions ... yes it is me singing - trying (and inevitably failing) to sound a little celine-esque ... testosterone got in the way ... and trying to learn some of her vocal acrobatics gave me an ulcer …For those of you who said this is more of what celine has already done in the past, you are absolutely spot on – just to explain, I was told by the high and mighty powers (the type who “call their people” and permanently wear sunglasses…) that after disappointing sales figures posted by her Taking Chances album, they decided to do a survey of her target audience in America and ask them what they wanted from Celine … and the resounding answer was – more of the same! “we want vintage Celine” … Titanic, Because you loved me … so the brief I received was to write for Celine in that style…She eventually decided to record an album that was closer to Adele’s work– they begged her to think twice (excuse the pun!) but since she’s now reached demigod status, her decisions are gospel…and so my hopes and dreams went to join the titanic and it was all very tragic … then one of her songs came on the radio and all was forgiven! hahaIf you guys have time to waste one of these days, please check out my other stuff and tell me what you think – always good to get feedback … (no apologies necessary for negative comments hehe https://www.facebook.com/GoranKay 6 Quote

I’m really touched by your comments … thank you for taking time to listen and to come back to me in such a gracious manner … When the opportunity came about, I spent a good 3 months reading everything I could possibly get my hands on that was Celine related … the song lyric was actually inspired by a quote from the Lady herself … I can’t remember exactly but she was basically expressing how nerve-wracking the process of ivf is, especially when the medic is scanning your stomach in search of “little hearts … little beats” … and voila … I thought that making it personal may give the song an edge … the downside of course is that if the pitch falls, the song becomes almost impossible to place elsewhere … as far as I know, none of the members of Il Divo went through IVF … but it’s very nice to get feedback like this - at least it feels like the song is out there in some shape or form … 3 Quote
