jpatdeleon09 Posted February 6, 2019 at 03:52 PM Posted February 6, 2019 at 03:52 PM Madonna and Céline.. I remember there was a rumour before back in 2012 that Céline and Madonna will do a Superbowl show together. I'm curious how it will end up mixing their songs together... Of course there will be remix songs of Céline 1 Quote

Squall Posted February 6, 2019 at 04:27 PM Posted February 6, 2019 at 04:27 PM I really don't know why any artist would want to do a halftime show. Maroon 5 was crucified. An artist has to be at their absolute peak of their game, or reach legendary status so high that they are beyond criticism. Celine has turned herself into an artist for middle aged to old women. She's largely seen as a joke with how she dresses and acts in public. If she did the super bowl she would be ripped to shreds. 1 Quote
scielle Posted February 6, 2019 at 04:38 PM Posted February 6, 2019 at 04:38 PM (edited) Celine has turned herself into an artist for middle aged to old women. She's largely seen as a joke with how she dresses and acts in public. If she did the super bowl she would be ripped to shreds. It's very clear from her concert attendance and the glowing press in the last 2-3 years - written largely by millennials - that this is absolutely no longer the case. May have been in the 90s, but certainly not now.Quite the opposite, in fact. She's never been more revered. That being said, I wouldn't particularly care to see her do Super Bowl. They were first critcized for even accepting the gig, based on the racism issues surrounding the NFL. Then they gave a terrible show. It truly has nothing to do with whether or not an artist is at their peak. 2 Quote https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PL54qnRGM2gMatthew Charles - "Fix You" - Live at The Stonewall InnStonewall Sensation - Season 15Originally written and performed by Coldplay

Yes, very rarely a news outlet makes jokes about an outfit she wears, BUT it's more an exception. She's been SLAYING every since 2016.CÉLINUNUNU created some controversy, and also her "skinny" look lately, but that's really nothing compared to all the negative stuff she got years ago. 2 Quote »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» MATHIAS ««««««««««««««««««««««««««««««««https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzPrxI0AIDY
CelineDionFreak Posted February 6, 2019 at 05:31 PM Posted February 6, 2019 at 05:31 PM I think the Super Bowl isn’t the best place for Celine. She could do God Bless America at the beginning but I think the halftime show isn’t her best gig. It’s a very quick thing, and she’d have to keep changing her tune and the way the media roasts these performances, I’d rather not see her do this. smw Posted February 6, 2019 at 05:45 PM Author Posted February 6, 2019 at 05:45 PM (edited) Even though she's widely accepted as a Legend / Icon these days, I think there'd be a lot of backlash if Celine was announced as the headliner for the Superbowl. The only way I can imagine this happening is if she ends up having a big hit single again or something like that (which is totally possible, especially if it's a duet with a "current" artist). The halftime shows these days are usually for more current artists. Who knows! The younger generation is way more open minded and accepting of Celine. It's some older folks who would worry me. Although, Madonna did do one not too long ago! But she is much more suited for a BIG SHOW whereas Celine is all about the vocals. Just like Whitney Houston would not have been the best choice even back in her prime. I think it would be totally feasible if Celine was a surprise guest at a halftime show. If she could come out looking fabulous -- showing off those legs -- and got to do some of those epic PURPLE RAIN vocals, that would be phenomenal. It'd be amazing if Drake, for instance, was announced as the Halftime performer and then he brings out CELINE DION as his surprise guest. That would be genius for all kinds of reasons. With all of that said --- Celine could absolutely put on a STELLAR halftime performance. She feeds off of energy and she has plenty of upbeat songs and could do some unexpected covers. She is also no stranger to SPECTACLE. So many of her shows have had some amazing visuals. Edited February 6, 2019 at 05:46 PM by smw 1 Quote

Javito Posted February 6, 2019 at 06:34 PM Posted February 6, 2019 at 06:34 PM I can only see her giving another unbearable performance of LCMM while jabbering part of the original lyrics mixed with some more unintelligible screams, and it will end up being an embarrassing performance to mock about. isurrender Posted February 6, 2019 at 07:16 PM Posted February 6, 2019 at 07:16 PM Céline is a great performer and actually the only one to be able to "hold" an audience without any big show. However that's not the policy of the superbowl and her repertoire doesn't fit. However she can do it and still pay a tribute to her discography with a show full of big uptempos covers 😁 Quote

Of course she can do it, I love Celine and would love to see her at the Super Bowl but it just isn’t her crowd and honestly I don’t think it would work. One can argue her biggest hits aren't Katy Perry or Rihanna type of hits songs but Céline isn't stranger to big productions which the Superbowl requires. She has the repertoire full of global mega hits to headline the event. I don't think she'll ever do superbowl at this point but one can only dream, that would've elevate her career as a living legend to new heights. Quote
ryba Posted February 13, 2024 at 04:37 PM Posted February 13, 2024 at 04:37 PM (edited) With the right arrangements and appropriate mixing she could kill it at the halftime show. mirage Posted February 13, 2024 at 05:20 PM Posted February 13, 2024 at 05:20 PM Funny I thought about it after watching a few of those shows. I think back in the day it wouldn't have worked. But now, 13 minutes of her biggest hits I think it will. With the right arrangement, the right show, and the best parts of those songs I think it could work.Throw in some of her uptempo work. But they need to reworked big time, and use backing tracks. But I think even with a major orchestra she will blow everyone away. Verstuurd vanaf mijn SM-F721B met Tapatalk Quote
Nmj Posted February 13, 2024 at 05:47 PM Posted February 13, 2024 at 05:47 PM As a huge NFL football fan, and As you know a huge Celine fan… it wouldn’t work. Celine is from a different stature of entertainment. Yes she’s a HELL of an entertainer but the demographic isn’t her demographic by large. As an overwhelming example… I doubt 25-55 year old male football demographic wants to hear BYLM or BATB. It’s the sad truth but we can’t ignore that fact. Now Celine as a coheadliner could work. For example: if Ne-yo ever got offered the halftime show, he could definitely bring Celine out to do “Incredible”. 2 Quote

She would sing RDMH, IACBTMN, Im Alive, TTWII, MHWGO and a cover like the Show Must Go On or something. And yes she could have guests on stage like Elton playing the piano or just about anyone sing something with her. Celine could easily have done a Superbowl 15 years ago but now her voice would probably have to be prerecorded for everything. I think that would be the biggest hurdle. 1 Quote
rfkavanagh Posted February 13, 2024 at 07:28 PM Posted February 13, 2024 at 07:28 PM The only time I could even remotely have seen Céline doing the halftime show was maybe around 1996. Her profile was huge, she had some upbeat songs, and she hadn't been completely relegated to "adult contemporary ballad singer" the way MHWGO and LTAL did. But even then, she wasn't exactly right for the sports demo. 2 Quote

As an artist you have to weigh the cons and pros and it just seems like it would be a good overall idea. Yes I do agree with you, the Super Bowl would really NOT WORK for Celine e nowadays. Now maybe back in the mid to late 90s during her peak, or maybe in the early 2000s during the releases of either the "A New Day Has Come" album or the "One Heart" albums (as those 2 albums were not only during her big comeback after her first hiatus, but also both albums DID HAVE their fair share of RADIO FRIENDLY & UPBEAT/DANCEABLE SONGS that would have possibly fit into a Super Bowl halftime show, as those type of shows prefer upbeat/danceable & radio friendly type of music.) But as we are 20+ to 30 years TOO LATE FOR THAT, especially considering Celines current situation with her health (as right now we don't even know if she can actually handle doing a full length concert these days, not to mention a major Super Bowl halftime show, especially as a Headliner,) it is all just a long ago PIPE DREAM from us fans, & accept that the "Celine-Super-Bowl-Headliner-possibility-idea-ship has sailed, has sank, & now lives at the bottom of the ocean with the Titanic" lol, (no pun intended, if you know what I mean lol!) 😉😄 Quote
