I think it's not that easy to secure a spot for Céline to perform on the Grammy Awards...

All managers try to get their artists on the show.

It's very competitive and I'm sure there's a lot of political crap going on behind closed doors $$$$$... :-D

I don't understand at all why Loved Me Back to Life ( song) was not submitted. I mean even in submissions Sony is irrelevant?

That song had nothing to envy to other pop songs released this year.

Incredible was not as powerful but come on ... There's no way I can believe that "Can't remember to forget you" ( Rihanna/Shakira) or SMS ( Britney/Miley) are better/more deserving duets.

I'm not saying that she has chances to get nominated ( they are few duets which have been more striking and/or successfull) but there definitely are some more absurd submissions.

Same goes for "pop album" : Avril Lavigne, Britney Spears, Cyrus, J.Lo, Artpop... lolilol !

I guess Maroon 5, Magic, Coldplay, Ed Sheran, Sam Smith, Ariana, Kate Perry could be nominated for "pop album" ( although I think most of these have smash hits but they 're not good as a whole)

I don't think they need to try to get her on the show... her producer in Vegas is the same as the Grammy producer. It seems obvious to me they just need to do a phone call, don't they?

Isn't part of actually getting nominated pining for the nominations?

I've thought about this regarding Celine and her team a lot lately. They don't seem to want the awards -- so I don't see her getting nominated. Back in the day, when Celine was still a rising star, they would really push to get as much recognition as possible. But these days Celine has already proven herself so she just doesn't care about awards anymore.

With that said, I would LOVE it for Celine to be recognized in a BIG way again. It would be so fantastic for her to record an album that receives tons of critical attention. I think that if Celine embraced a concept album -- like a jazz album -- and really pushed for recognition like she did back in the 90s, then she could stand a chance again.

However, she might be on a Barbra Streisand trajectory now. Where she'll occasionally perform at the Oscars and Grammys on special occasions but never really gets nominated anymore. But her place is music history is solid.

Who knows. Part of me sees a big Act 3 for Celine -- once she's older and the boys are grown and she's in a different place in her life. It will be interesting to see new generations discover her. And I hope she pursues the (French) acting career she desires. (Is Meryl Streep still slated to play Maria Callas? Even still, Celine would be perfect with the right director.) :)

Well René said a few years ago, they asked for Céline every year, but they had to decline everytime because Céline had other obligations (like Vegas) at the time of the ceremony. So I don't think it would be hard for her to secure a spot (though maybe that has changed after all the declines).

It's sad that even us fans say at once that she doesn't stand a chance. It's so sad :(

What surprised me the most, is why would they nominate WAAF for anything?

Is it possible LMBTL (the single) was released BEFORE the eligibility period? Maybe that's why it's not listed... :hmm:

As for making a phone call to the producer of her show (who is also the Grammy producer) for Céline to sing on the show, well I doubt this guy is the only person who decides who gets to perform... I can't hurt though. :-D

I quote myself

I guess Maroon 5, Magic, Coldplay, Ed Sheran, Sam Smith, Ariana, Kate Perry could be nominated for "pop album" ( although I think most of these have smash hits but they 're not good as a whole)

Nominees are ...

Coldplay

Miley Cyrus

Ariana Grande

Katy Perry

Ed Sheeran

Sam Smith

So predictable... ( but Miley...lol)

Céline wasn't nominated at all.

The pop vocal nominees have to be a joke right ?? The word being vocal!! Although I do love ed sheeran , seriously talented guy!

At least Barbra got nominated , it would be great to see her win it at 72!

Give us all hope Celine could be nominated and win again in the future!

she is still in the 40's not in the 80's

maybe she needs to promote an ambum like she did in the 90's not go to vegas and stay there

if she go to vegas again i hope she gets Franco Dragonne again to do a decent show not a show for old people

She did amazing things when she was promoting The Colour of my love album

car performance of MISLED

Mirror Performance for ONLY ONE ROAD

a good lying on the sofa for THE POWER OF LOVE

and the amazing show with the dancers to REFUSE TO DANCE

she can get attention, just do great things

I think winning a Grammy as an artist is way to easy with fans being able to nominate. If you got a fanbase with young fans who all have internet you got a change, Celine fans often don't have internet or don't even vote, cause they know Celine doesn't stand a chance. For me all those awards don't matter, she has a lot of them already. I think she has to win the WMA for best live performance for Vegas or the SA tour

there was something simple and easy to do in a vegas show

sometimes do created things doesn't mean difficult and expensive, she did it well back in 94 why not now again

Many females have won AOTY - Adele, Laryn Hill, Alanis Morrisette, Judy Garland, Natalie Cole, Barbra Streisand and Whitney Houston. Celine is in good company with other diva AOTY winners.

The Grammy Awards aren't voted by fans. NARAS is the organization that hands out the awards. They are comprised of music industry professionals. To be eligible to vote, members must have worked on (I think it was) eight recordings for the eligibility year. Eligible members vote for the first round for nominations and in the second round of voting for the winners. And NARAS has over 10,000 members.

So really, it was industry professionals to have failed to nominate Celine. This statement says a lot. They loved her then but not now. Makes you think why.
