Hello guys, i'm living in Vancouver (im Brazilian) and its gonna be my first time in Vegas and alone, i already bought tickets for dec. 30 and 31. Im gonna buy for the 2 first concerts of jan. as well, prob i'll stay at Caesars palace, idk yet, its my first trip on my own, im kinda lost lol

Id like to know if some of u will attend the concert,

i hate the idea of staying "all by myself" all the time and id love to meet Celine Dion fans !!

Caesars is very expensive. I took a risk and stayed at the Flamingo across the street for half the price. I was on one of their completely upgraded floors and in one of their upgraded rooms. It was surprisingly nice and clean. And right across the street from Caesars. I would not stay in one of the non-upgraded rooms at the Flamingo though. They look hideous.

Check out Hotels.com, they have great deals on Vegas rooms. When you are checking room prices for Caesars, make sure you pay attention to the tower you select and only stay in one of the newer towers (Augustus or Octavius). Near Caesars is the Bellagio (just a short walk across a little footbridge). Up the street is the Venetian, and they have great deals on rooms (cheaper than Bellagio or Caesars). Paris hotel will occasionally run specials that have rooms at about half the cost of Caesars, and it's just a short walk from Caesars.

 

Also, a general Vegas tip is to avoid Circus Circus.

 

I agree though with the above comment, that time of year in Vegas can be a bit more expensive. But, hopefully, if you book far enough in advance you can get a better deal.

 

 

As a side note, a lot of people pay for a taxi to get to and from the airport. But, Caesars' can arrange a private car pick up for you that is actually the exact cost a taxi (if not cheaper), but it is much nicer. There is also a free shuttle service in Vegas. http://www.lasvegas-...ree-shuttle.php

 

 

I hope to see you there for the December 31st show!!! (That's my tentative plan now anyway).

If you take a taxi from the airport to Caesars area be sure to order them NOT to take the freeway. Costs twice as much!

Caesars is very expensive. I took a risk and stayed at the Flamingo across the street for half the price. I was on one of their completely upgraded floors and in one of their upgraded rooms. It was surprisingly nice and clean. And right across the street from Caesars. I would not stay in one of the non-upgraded rooms at the Flamingo though. They look hideous.

I had no idea about the Quad break in! Thanks for letting me know, DionFanAlways! That has not happened to me, but I did have a group of drunk guys think my room was their room and did try to get in (this was at the Venetian). But, luckily that had at least one sober friend , or at least sober enough, who told them to stop trying random doors, and then they were helped to their room. I didn't call security, but I am guessing someone did because security did come up and I think went to the drunk guys' room/rooms (at least, I could hear them knocking on a door and identifying themselves as security. I didn't look out to see who they were talking to though).

My two cents: Caesars Palace is worth it.

 

First, it has the Forum Shops. Some of the best shopping around.

 

Second, it has some of the best restaurants in Vegas.

 

Third, it is a great base to see Vegas. So much is within walking distance of Caesars. I have stayed elsewhere in Vegas, but I always end up spending time at Caesars, and it always seems that I end up walking past it to get to something else I want to see in Vegas. So, it really is a great central location to the strip. The only thing this would not apply to is if you want to go to Luxor (for the Chris Angel show, for example) or if you want to see the Michael Jackson Cirque show--both of those would require a taxi. I mention this last bit because in theory you could walk it, at least in terms of distance. But, I was warned by a hotel security guy once when i mentioned walking there myself from the Venetian and he told me that you have to go past certain parts on the strip that even he did not feel comfortable spending much time in. So, after that, I always make sure I take a car.

 

Luxor has an awesome Titanic exhibit! I highly recommend it!

 

 

But, you are right about the cost. Caesars can be more expensive compared to some of the nearby hotels. A brand new hotel just opened across from Caesars. I am spacing on the name right now. They just finished it about a month ago. It looks great. If I can remember the name, I will send it to you in my private message as well.

 

 

I have never personally had trouble in Vegas, outside of the general randomness that comes from a girl hanging out in Vegas (read drunk men). But, that could be anywhere. Just watch your surroundings. Vegas had a bad beat in terms of the economy. Certain things developed, like people living in the tunnels underneath some of the resorts. Those tunnels are not policed by anyone. I am not saying this because I think you will hang out in a tunnel, haha. I am saying this because the tunnels, I believe, are near Planet Hollywood and then head out more I think in the direction of Luxor (not sure the direction they head to be honest. Although, this might explain the security guy's warning to me about walking down that way myself). So, certain times can be a bit more "interesting" than others, which is why I just say watch your surroundings. I am not sure what has become of the tunnels lately. The tunnel situation was more in the news when the economy was just starting to come back (the issue developed more or less around the time AND closed, and the economy tanked and resorts kept laying people off). After the "Celine" show started, I believe a couple thousand people were hired throughout Vegas, so I hope that helped to at least alleviate the issue a bit. From what people tell me, the economy is certainly coming back in Vegas.

 

The only time I was ever nervous in Vegas, I stayed at Bellagio (beautiful hotel, I loved it. But, I also received a free upgrade to a penthouse suite, so I have no idea about their basic rooms). I went to see "Celine," and after the show headed out of Caesars to go back to Bellagio. Remember that little footbridge I mentioned? It was standstill packed. So many people were leaving shows at the same time and it just bottled up on the bridge. I was stuck on that bridge for maybe 10 or 15 minutes. Not an exaggeration, it took a solid 10 or 15 minutes to get off that bridge. Just being stuck on a bridge can be annoying, but what made me nervous is that some guys on the bridge had clearly had a bit to drink and kept getting loud which upset other people on the bridge, etc. I thought there was going to be a fight. But, in the end, nothing happened (thank God). I went to see "O" last time I was in Vegas, and stayed at Caesars--so this time the trip back was the opposite because I had to go from Bellagio to Caesars. I had no trouble making it across that little bridge, the group kept moving. So, at least getting stuck on the bridge does not happen every time. "O" and "Celine" have the same stat and end times, which likely contributes to the foot traffic at that time in the evening in that spot. But, most of the Cirque shows start at 7:30 as well in other resorts, so it's pretty busy around that time.

The hotel name is the Cromwell Hotel. The only reason I happen to know this is that the Giada restaraunt just opened there.

A couple of ideas off the top of my head for cheaper hotels include Excalibur and New York New York. Excalibur is an older hotel. I haven't stayed there myself, but I know people who have and I do not recall them complaining about it. That place can be as cheap as 30 dollars (US) per night. Excalibur is the hotel with the jousting/tournament dinner show. But, that is near Luxor and New York New York--meaning, you would need a taxi to get to Caesars. In part because of the distance, but also because of the area you would have to walk past to get to Caesars. I would investigate Excalibur a bit. It is cheaper, but you are losing the location. Like I said, I haven't' stayed there so I can't speak to the security or cleanliness aspect of it. You could also look into New York New York, that's around 60 dollars (US) a night. Like I said, that is near Excalibur and Luxor, so again a taxi would be needed to get to Caesars. New York New York has an amusement park.

 

Keep in mind when I am saying you need a taxi, it doesn't mean the taxi would be expensive. The strip is relatively compact. My taxi suggestions are also based in part on the fact you are going alone, and so I am trying to keep in mind just general safety things as well. The free Vegas shuttle may also take you to that area and back as well. My concerns regarding safety about walking to and from that part of the strip are based on suggestions and comments from various hotel services. There are things to see and do it at Luxor and that part of the strip, so whenever I have asked about walking there, I am advised not to do so. I am sure there are people who have gone and walk there all the time. But, just speaking for myself, I would not feel comfortable doing so. However, I have gone to attractions at that end of the strip. So, it isn't all bad. Like I said, the concerns raised and mentioned to me seem to be just getting there and back because of a few areas you have to walk through to get to that part of the strip. I just mention this because I did not want you to think Vegas is all bad, because it isn't. I visit often. Like I said, like if you were to visit any other city, watch your surroundings.

They have a good monorail system that takes you from one end of the strip to the other end that is a cheaper way to get around, we use all the time instead of taxis!

I just stayed there and was scared to from the online reviews. But I loved it! My room was super clean and the whole floor I was on had been upgraded even the flooring. However, when the elevator stopped on some of the floors I saw that some levels were just as horrific as the online reviews.

 

So, I would recommend the Flamingo so long as you're on the 18th floor lol
