Frozen_Phoenix Posted June 6, 2014 at 02:42 PM Posted June 6, 2014 at 02:42 PM As "Sans Attendre" is/ was such a huge success, do you think it will take long until we get a follow-up? Which musical direction should its successor take? 1 Quote Et la vie glisse sur l'eau du tempsLa vie resiste, prend son elanPour un baiser elle peut se poserLe temps qui compte est toujours compte http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f248/ARMOIT/celinechances-1.png
lllBeautifulll Posted June 6, 2014 at 06:42 PM Posted June 6, 2014 at 06:42 PM Don't know but I wish she work again with J-J. Goldman or Luc Plamondon. For my personal taste, Sans Attendre was a little bit too outdated and twee with songs for her dad, mom and children. I prefer more actuals songs like in Loved me back to life (minus Overjoyed). 6 Quote

woodstock Posted June 6, 2014 at 10:12 PM Posted June 6, 2014 at 10:12 PM I think someone mentionned a few weeks earlier that Sony France was thinking of a new french best-of album. Am i wrong ? Quote
mike_z Posted June 6, 2014 at 10:18 PM Posted June 6, 2014 at 10:18 PM I don't think we'll get a "modern" french album. This one worked so they won't change the formula. Probably some more Jean-Pierre Ferland... Veneruso as always and some Jacques Brel cover. Plamondon is always refreshing! I wouldn't mind getting a "Sans Attendre" part 2! 3 Quote

SuperLove4Celine Posted June 7, 2014 at 04:28 AM Posted June 7, 2014 at 04:28 AM (edited) I've had an idea for a "concept French album" in my head for a few years. It isn't groundbreaking, mind you, but I do think it would make an interesting edition to her discography. What about doing French versions of some of her best known English hits? The arrangements wouldn't have to be direct replicas, but could instead be slightly modernized. Not too much so as not to alienate her fans, but just enough to potentially help bring in a new group of fans. By doing this, we could potentially get a full version of "Mes ailes à moi" (see below). She could even add in a few non-hits if she felt strongly about it. Some of her English songs I'd like to hear in French someday are:"My Heart Will Go On""It's All Coming Back To Me Now""All By Myself""The Power Of Love""That's The Way It Is""Have You Ever Been In Love""Nothing Broken But My Heart""My Love""Think Twice""You And I""Somebody Loves Somebody""Reveal""Then You Look At Me""I Surrender""Prayer""Live (For The One I Love)""I Feel Too Much""Naked""Refuse To Dance""A Song For You"There are so many others I could choose, but those mentioned are just a highlight of my top picks. Thoughts? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mR95VPR-VHANon-francophone countries wouldn't mind about this release because they have these songs in English and with better vocals since Celine in her 40s can't sound as powerful as she sounded in her 20s. Francophone countries, on the other hand, would cringe at this release. It's as if she gives way too much weight to her English catalogue. I actually doubt hardcore fans would enjoy listening to French versions of these songs, many of them wrote history the way they are. Not to mention that Celine would come off as a singer that no songwriter gives a f*** about and as a result she resorts into recycling her own old songs. To me, the best thing to do (for her image and commercial success) is to come up with an album filled with fresh, original songs. That way she shows her career is going on... Which musical direction should its successor take?I'm sure Sony will be very much interested in repeating the commercial success they had with SA, so a new French album might be released earlier than we expect 2016 is quite a sensible suggestion btw, I'd die if Celine recorded a fresh and modern sounding duet with either Emmanuel Moire or Florent Mothe Edited June 7, 2014 at 01:28 PM by Jeff Abbott Quote
zuv Posted June 7, 2014 at 01:33 PM Posted June 7, 2014 at 01:33 PM ??? Sans Attendre isnt even dead yet... They could very possibly release a new single if they wanted. How about releasing the damn title track? It would make sense to release that particular song, 2 years later (attendre-waiting) and its a fun summer song. 2 Quote

I really really loved D'Elles and liked that album much better than Sans Attendre. It felt more diverse. Also some more songs like Je lui dirai would be fantastic. :S another proof that humans are all different: for me d'elles is my least favorite album from Celine. I really wanted to love La Diva since i love when Celine goes high, but that song always ends up with a headache :-( Sans Attendre is at the top along with SSDA and D'eux. Btw, jean jacques Goldman is still writting for other artists, i think he is just out of inspiration for Celine and prefers not written anything rather than writting bad stuff for her. 3 Quote
Frozen_Phoenix Posted June 7, 2014 at 03:58 PM Author Posted June 7, 2014 at 03:58 PM (edited) D'elles is full of highlights: Les Temps Qui Compte, Immensite, A Cause, Je Cherche L'Ombre, S'il n'en restait qu'une, Those songs really mean something to me, they always push me into certain mood I like very much. I never understood why so many people hated D'elles. Sans Attendre feels so boring to me. However, glad to hear Goldman isn't stuck in retirement. Somehow makes me hope they will collaborate in the future.
