Misheard Celine Lyrics

I thought it would be fun to post a topic about mistaken lyrics . . particularly those from the era before we could google all the lyrics. Here's two I can think of right away that I've missed:

 

-- In IACBTMN, I thought she was saying "It was more than all your lousy love." instead of "laws allow" (I think a lot of people made that mistake)

- In Did You Give Enough Love, I thought she was saying "When I needed honest acting, were you really there" (instead of "understanding"). I have no idea what "honest acting" is (sounds like an oxymoron), but that's what I thought she was saying!

I always struggled with the lyrics of "Prayer" (from ANDHC).

 

Like "Sweet innocence still harvesting" for "Sweet innocence they're harvesting"

 

Don't get me wrong, it's one of my favorite Celine ballads from this Century but the lyrics are so... weird

 

"Loneliness journey endlessly" what is that supposed to mean?

In S'Il N'En Restait Qu'Une, her pronouncing is so bad that I hear all the time even after re-listening: 'Pour envier leurs folies, leurs excès, leurs cacas' instead of 'leur tracas'. And 'leur cacas' means 'their poop' lol.

I may be wrong since I don´t dominate the english language but in Live for the one I love she says ..."and even DIF I have to die". What do you say?

it's her regional accent I guess. I think her worst french pronunciation was on 1F&4T...

I can't remember about Celine but this topic made me think of Beyonce's 'Dangeroulsy in Love' and 'I'll never leave' which I initially heard as 'I now believe' (well, it does make sense after all but still...).

Sometimes it's hard to know what are the right lyrics because there are différences between the CD booklet and the sheet music of the song.

For instance, in "Tell Him", you can read in one "Love is like nature in love" and in the other "Love is light that surely glows".

There are many examples like this one !

And remember that Céline not always sticks to the lyrics of the song. Remember The Colour Of My Love where she just skips 4 or 5 lines..

In Thankful when I first heard it where she says "thankful for feelin' alive again" I thought she said "thankful for feeling alright". I look at the lyrics later and I was like "oh. That's what she said!"

Haha good to know! "caca" is the same in portuguese "poop" but generally said to the little children or meaning "little mistake" in slang. Funny!

In Somebody Loves somebody I´ve first listened "if you wanna bite, bite your tongue" Then "if you wanna fight bite your tongue before you explode" makes more sense

when i was about 9ish and didnt know much English, I thought the first words she said at the beginning of the song "Make You Happy" was: Homosapiens lol it only made sense to me because its the same word in French

 

but now when I listen to the song, she clearly says: No more sadness

There is also the line, "There is some love that will not go away" (or something like that), which is never heard in "My Heart Will Go On."

In the beginning I heard a Dutch word in The Reason:

 

"You are gewoon the reason!" (she actually belts: "You are the only reason!").

 

"gewoon" in this sentence means 'just', like 'this is just the way it is". It made perfect sense in the lyrics, but I knew this couldn't be right!

I would LOVE it if she actually sang "Homosapiens" at the beginning of that song. Genius.

 

...And I haven't listened to this song in a long time. The Falling Into You album is a gem. So fresh and fantastic -- even still.

Haha this is hilarious! I made the same mistake with Live. When I was a kid I used to hear this line in I'm Alive . "Fill me with love, made me a woman and catch the love" which was pointless since she's saying "Made me a woman on clouds above". I acually still hear it "lousy love" in IACBTMN. lol

I definitely still hear "lousy love" in IACBTMN. I know what's it's supposed to be but I still hear that on occasion. Trying to think of some other's I know I've heard wrong. Hmmmmm

it must be funny hearing you...the same for me when i sing in english, and if you put my awful voice on top of it.
