[UNCONFIRMED] Céline may be featured on Barbra Streisand's new album

According to legendary producer Walter Afanasieff, Barbra Streisand is recording a duets album.

 

The album will be produced by Afanasieff and Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds and it will feature collabs with artists like Lionel Richie, Lady GaGa, Beyoncè, Céline Dion, Blake Shelton, Stevie Wonder, Josh Groban, Michael Bublè, Bette Midler, Andrea Bocelli, Billy Joel, and John Mayer!

 

Walter posted the news on his website but it was deleted. Now it says:

 

"My apologies for releasing information and photos of a project that is in the making and has not been finalized. I will keep you posted on the progress of this extraordinary Duets album when the time is right. Stay tuned- WA..."

 

 

I'm praying for a new duet. "Tell Him" is great but... We want more, right?

They HAVE to do it together. If not now, when? There is still incomparable magic to be made when these two legends get together to sing…..

 

I mean, come on, Blake Shelton is there and Celine is not? PFFFTTTT.

As much as i wish this would be true Barbra is a "been there done that" kind of girl and don't think she would do it again, although it would be amazing

Babs said nothing but nice things about Céline.

 

And Céline went on to achieve more in music than Babs ever did, and I think Babs gets that and has much respect for Céline as a vocalist and performer.

I wasnt a fan of TH too much but, it would be cool to see what could happen,with them again in a song. I dont care for Barbra too much. So if this doesnt happen then I wont be hurt.

I think it is highly unlikely that Celine will be on this album. As mentioned above, Barbra is a "been there, done that" person and so is Celine (or, at least, Rene). Remember all the talk of never doing another olympics song because they have done it already? If the fans are going to spend the next year hoping and dreaming about what kind of Celine/Barbra duet will occur, and what the video will look like, and will the song be uptempo or ballad....all of that will be a waste of time and getting your hopes up yet again. From everything I've ever read about Celine, she was so thrilled with Tell Him and singing with Babs, that she's not going to want to do it again. It's been done. It is immortalized on CD. Lighting doesn't strike twice, and all that stuff. Barbra's first duets CD has the Celine/Barbra collaboration on it; the new one will have all new singers. You know in your heart this is true.

I would much rather see a live performance of Tell Him than a new duet (which almost certainly won't come close to the success of the original collaboration). Edited by Timster

Are you kidding? TELL HIM is one of the best duets EVER in history by two female artists.

The vocal delivery by both of them is outstanding.

 

A lot of people attempt to cover it but it's just painful to listen. Those two women were monsters at the time and that song is flawless.

 

I don't think they'll ever be able to even come close to TELL HIM. It has to be a beautiful, soft jazz standard, otherwise they'd rather not record anything!

I didn't really like any of the duets on LTABL. Tell Him is a nice song but there's just something about it that makes me hit next everytime it comes on.

I never liked the way both singers treated their duet. It is a neglected song. Celine was lipping it throughout her LTAL tour and never performed it again. On the other hand, Barbra included it in her 1999 tour and has never used it since. Even when the song came out there was no music video and not even a memorable performance. Personally, I'd rather get a Celine duet with Lara Fabian or Adele.

After Babs stood Céline up at The Grammys back in the days, I think Céline lost some respect for Babs... :D

Especially that she had to switch to MHWGO and didnt properly hit the 2 notes at the end....

I'd be pissed at Babs hahaha

In case you weren't aware, there actually was a music video. I would watch it on VH1 all the time!

It was actually Barbra that got the ball rolling on the whole project. Celine was singing "I Finally Found Someone" at The Oscars, Babs went to the bathroom and couldn't get back into the auditorium in time to see Celine sing it. Babs sent Celine a note thanking her for singing the song and said "next time, let's do one together"...I don't see how that's a one sided love affair.

The music video is too rushed and lame to be taken seriously. There is no plot, nothing really memorable. And Celine was actually using a pre-recorded track, it wasn't live.

Yes, true. I have seen this sometimes on YT, but it is so boring to the point of not considering it a music video. I mean there is no plot, looks really rushed. Just my opinion, of course!

It's classy. The extended version where they are talking about the song is nice too. It's just 2 divas singing the song, which is all this song's video really should be.
