Basically they were comparing with her concerts in 2008. First of all they crticise the front stage used instead of a center one like in the TCWT (which in my opinion is ridiculous to complain about this detail) and that the scene was austere, very simple. Then they say the audience was in flames with her back in 2008, she was in a very good mood and she made contact with the audience, but yesterday the audience response was cold and she barely took the time to talk to the public. So the public was in lethargy and sleepy, because the show had no surprises, no emotion.

 

It wasn't until Ziggy, the 19th song in the show that the audience finally stood up from their seats. It says she still charms and smiles with grace during her performances, but somehow the magic didn't work yesterday. It was a little cold, short concert, that makes you wonder if it was really worth what ticket prices cost.

 

Le Point also remarks that it took her a while to abandon "the cold professionalism that 10 years of shows in Las Vegas has instilled her" , and that for 40 minutes she linked one song after another without making any contact with the public, sat down most of the concert and with ages around 50. Normally I don't give a damn about this press reviews, if it wasn't because many fans that attended the show yesterday have agreed with this critics in the red heads facebook and twitter

reading the comments, some fans were not that happy, but the majority loved it. The critics were not so bad, It is a Celine Dion show, mot arcade fire, or Lou Doillon.

I wonder who was at the concert from Paris Match, and they must have been sitting or listening from the toilet, because the audience was amazing, and there were times when the stadium sounded and rattled as if it were to collapse.

Why do you guys say the press was mean!! It wasn't that bad really... Yes, some complains here and there as always but most critics in the newspapers were pretty good. Even on the news (on France 1), a clip from the concert was shown after saying how beautiful her voice is etc., and then they showed Céline singing almost half the song Parler à mon père to close the newscast!!! Bingo promo!!!

I thought the reviews were mostly positive.....Le Figaro said it was kitsch but entertaining. But that's pretty much Celine in a nutshell..

But it's good to hear a fan perspective and know that the audience loved it! I just came back from Paris (went to concert on Monday)... the concert was amazing! it's stupid to compare a world tour show with a 7 concert mini tour... anyway the crowd was great... she had to stop singing a couple times cause there was so much noise etc... I loved it!!!! and sometimes the stadium was really shaking as people seating in the top levels were stepping non stop it looked like 3r world war was happening outside (ok I kinda agree that when she sang ziggy the crowd kinda went nuts- I guess cause 1/2 were gay lol but in general it was great- standing ovation after all by myself... etc etc) <3<3<3 Edited November 27, 2013 at 01:10 AM by helios.apollon

But come on , that's like still having a corded landline! It's almost 2014 for goodness sake, get "the biggest selling female artist in the world" a cordless mic, you know like the ones the school principles even have when the speak at a school play.

First of all, I love the corded mic, I think she does too.. She sometimes plays with it, like she's a cowboy. This reminded me of LAP in Antwerp (FYI: the first night she sang cordless, the second night with the cord).

I don't believe the bitching by the French press is something we need to take too seriously. First of all, 'they' have been complaining ever since (also during the 90's, after Stade de France). She is the prime French singer of this time. That's enough reason to complain in itself. I've been to both Antwerp concerts. She was truly the best singer she could be. There is no reason to doubt she did less in Paris.

She's a legend, who is at her best. This also imposes some distance.

 

BTW: no one could have imagined 5 years ago she would come back again with such wonderful material, looking beautiful, singing immaculately. Enjoy this era folks. Don't rely on the French press.

Yes, I saw that exact thing. I am fed up with Celine doing this. I have NO idea why she went to Europe and performed among her repertoire a B-class title track off of her debut English album. It makes zero sense...and then she goes on to LIP it. Perform a (perhaps equally obscure) French song instead Celine, what the hell.....!
