I love your spin on it to DM!! I absolutely don't like what he said! But I do love this song and Celine sings it brilliantly! And you can tell she just really enjoys herself when she sings it; which I love too. And the bridge....oh my gosh! It's definitely one of my faves on the album despite Mr. Merriweather.

I'm in that same box too... This song didn't tell me anything before listening Céline's version, and after hers, its still the same annoying song, which became even more annoying after the incident with its author. Maybe I don't get that "raspy" style of her, or I don't buy the music of the song... whatever.

I think this song could be quite the hit in UK if Breakaway does well and would make a good 3rd single there. It's a good mix of the 'new edgy' Celine and the traditional Celine.

I think this song is a brilliant track on the album! At first I was skeptical from the sneak peeks we got, but it's truly a gem

Yeah, I did not care for this song either from the first listen on the famed Katie show. However, it is starting to grow on me. I like the way Celine's voice sounds on it, new sounds we haven't really heard before and she sounds soulful and that she really likes the song.

i think the same, she likes it, and it shows. I'm happy that she is happy and i love this song.

This is probably my least favorite song on the album. I don't really like the raspy voice, and it just sounds to me like Celine trying to sound like Adele, and trying to sound edgy, without it really being her. I can’t help but like the soaring chorus (“Now you’re gone . . “) but I don’t think it’s supposed to sound soaring . .it’s supposed to be a song of heartbreak and anger and pain . . .and I just don’t think that comes through in Celine’s interpretation – she’s just trying too hard to be edgy.

 

For me, the attitude and "edginess" work 1000 % in Somebody Loves Somebody, but this song just doesn't do anything for me.

I do agree that during the verses the granny voice is just too much that's why I like the live version better!

 

Still, the bridge is to die for... and I have the slight impression that Céline was involved in the process of creating this new bridge.. I think you can tell from what you see in the recording session and what Eg White said about unexpected things in studio!

Celine's version is completely different and so much better I can't emphasize just how much. Daniel has a terrible voice and Adele's key was way to low for it to be decent. Celine's vocals are just so much better ,the production is better, just everything. I had to listen to it just to get that crappy original out of my ears. I'm so satisfied now

It was the song I was more anxious to hear in the whole album. And it didn't disappoint.

I've heard that song before Celine's, I listen to it a few time and then i stop listen to it because i didn't like it, soon i forgot how it sound, and when i saw your post i download it again try another listen and found it awful, i thought it was ok but after i heard Celine's version the original sound so amateur now.

Glad im not the only one that thinks this. Did you guys know that the video for QPVSA got more youtube views in its first week than the original of WAAF had up to that date. He felt threatened when he found out Celine was gonna be recording his song. We should feel sorry for him really...neh maybe not.

Just got the album. Love all the songs on it.....except this one! It is certainly my least favorite. I don't like much of anything about it. So...when I play the CD I will be skipping it everytime! Love the other stuff. Was great to hear something new.

I, for one, really like this song! I like the variations that Celine has in her voice. I enjoy the way she makes it her own. So what that it's a little raspy ( or whatever you want to call it). It's just a different sound, but I think it suits the song. Celine "rocks it"!!!

I'm still a bit surprised I actually ended up loving this song that used to sound so average to my ears... And yes, the bridge is The s***! You took the words out of my mouth, few days back i was going to write the same thing. Surprisingly, its the song that has the most plays, 124!!!! (LMBTL, 228, doesnt count cause we got it before) I hate that i love it so much lol (cause of DM).
