ehild Posted November 19, 2013 at 08:53 PM Posted November 19, 2013 at 08:53 PM I love your spin on it to DM!! I absolutely don't like what he said! But I do love this song and Celine sings it brilliantly! And you can tell she just really enjoys herself when she sings it; which I love too. And the bridge....oh my gosh! It's definitely one of my faves on the album despite Mr. Merriweather. Quote ~Liz"Please don't make your career your life. Let it be your passion, let it bring you pleasure, but don't let it become your identity. You are so much more valuable than that." -Celine
Duchess Posted November 19, 2013 at 09:50 PM Posted November 19, 2013 at 09:50 PM i don't like this song at all. everyone has their likes and dislikes..............this is my dislike so far. 1 Quote http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v158/Duchess_Nicol/flower20cropped.jpg
Javito Posted November 19, 2013 at 10:37 PM Posted November 19, 2013 at 10:37 PM (edited) i don't like this song at all. everyone has their likes and dislikes..............this is my dislike so far. I'm in that same box too... This song didn't tell me anything before listening Céline's version, and after hers, its still the same annoying song, which became even more annoying after the incident with its author. Maybe I don't get that "raspy" style of her, or I don't buy the music of the song... whatever. Edited November 19, 2013 at 10:43 PM by Javito Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"
c4n4d4 Posted November 19, 2013 at 10:40 PM Posted November 19, 2013 at 10:40 PM I think this song could be quite the hit in UK if Breakaway does well and would make a good 3rd single there. It's a good mix of the 'new edgy' Celine and the traditional Celine. LuisMa Posted November 19, 2013 at 10:50 PM Posted November 19, 2013 at 10:50 PM Although I am not a big fan of this song, if it is released, I hope it is a smash so as to see what Merriweather has to say now. 1 Quote
Peppercorn1991 Posted November 20, 2013 at 12:28 AM Posted November 20, 2013 at 12:28 AM I think this song is a brilliant track on the album! At first I was skeptical from the sneak peeks we got, but it's truly a gem So much attitude and is different lyrics for celine! Kev x 5 Quote
flutefreak Posted November 20, 2013 at 02:07 AM Posted November 20, 2013 at 02:07 AM Yeah, I did not care for this song either from the first listen on the famed Katie show. However, it is starting to grow on me. I like the way Celine's voice sounds on it, new sounds we haven't really heard before and she sounds soulful and that she really likes the song. 2 Quote

chocolatechip15 Posted November 20, 2013 at 02:38 AM Posted November 20, 2013 at 02:38 AM (edited) This is probably my least favorite song on the album. I don't really like the raspy voice, and it just sounds to me like Celine trying to sound like Adele, and trying to sound edgy, without it really being her. I can’t help but like the soaring chorus (“Now you’re gone . . “) but I don’t think it’s supposed to sound soaring . .it’s supposed to be a song of heartbreak and anger and pain . . .and I just don’t think that comes through in Celine’s interpretation – she’s just trying too hard to be edgy. For me, the attitude and "edginess" work 1000 % in Somebody Loves Somebody, but this song just doesn't do anything for me. Edited November 20, 2013 at 02:39 AM by chocolatechip15 2 Quote

mike_z Posted November 20, 2013 at 04:31 AM Posted November 20, 2013 at 04:31 AM I do agree that during the verses the granny voice is just too much that's why I like the live version better! Still, the bridge is to die for... and I have the slight impression that Céline was involved in the process of creating this new bridge.. I think you can tell from what you see in the recording session and what Eg White said about unexpected things in studio! 2 Quote
LVCeline Posted November 20, 2013 at 06:43 AM Posted November 20, 2013 at 06:43 AM Okay, so I decided to listen to the Daniel/Adele version finally and I cannot even believe how horrific it is to my ears. Celine's version is completely different and so much better I can't emphasize just how much. Daniel has a terrible voice and Adele's key was way to low for it to be decent. Celine's vocals are just so much better ,the production is better, just everything. I had to listen to it just to get that crappy original out of my ears. I'm so satisfied now 6 Quote
Jessyka Posted November 20, 2013 at 01:18 PM Posted November 20, 2013 at 01:18 PM I said it before and I'll say it again: I love everything about this song. It was the song I was more anxious to hear in the whole album. And it didn't disappoint. Love it! Quote http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff5/backup674/Banners/Image1.jpg

I'm so satisfied now I've heard that song before Celine's, I listen to it a few time and then i stop listen to it because i didn't like it, soon i forgot how it sound, and when i saw your post i download it again try another listen and found it awful, i thought it was ok but after i heard Celine's version the original sound so amateur now. I'm so satisfied now Glad im not the only one that thinks this. Did you guys know that the video for QPVSA got more youtube views in its first week than the original of WAAF had up to that date. He felt threatened when he found out Celine was gonna be recording his song. We should feel sorry for him really...neh maybe not. 2 Quote
empress Posted November 21, 2013 at 01:18 AM Posted November 21, 2013 at 01:18 AM Just got the album. Love all the songs on it.....except this one! It is certainly my least favorite. I don't like much of anything about it. So...when I play the CD I will be skipping it everytime! Love the other stuff. Was great to hear something new. Quote
dmeredith Posted November 21, 2013 at 02:06 AM Posted November 21, 2013 at 02:06 AM I, for one, really like this song! I like the variations that Celine has in her voice. I enjoy the way she makes it her own. So what that it's a little raspy ( or whatever you want to call it). It's just a different sound, but I think it suits the song. Celine "rocks it"!!! 3 Quote

LukeD Posted December 13, 2013 at 02:23 AM Posted December 13, 2013 at 02:23 AM (edited) I never thought I would say this, but this song is among my Top 3 songs of the album and definitely the one I've listened to most times. It's almost addictive, I'm not getting bored of it because it has so many dimensions lyrically and musically and vocally! I'm still a bit surprised I actually ended up loving this song that used to sound so average to my ears... And yes, the bridge is The s***! Same goes for 'Didn't Know Love' and 'Thankful', the bridge is where these 3 songs shine! Edited December 13, 2013 at 02:25 AM by LukeD 5 Quote

LukeD Posted December 13, 2013 at 02:46 AM Posted December 13, 2013 at 02:46 AM (edited) this my second favorite Hopefully she'll work with Eg White again in the future. In my opinion, out of all the people who worked with her for her English discography, Eg White is the one who comes closer to the greatness of Jean-Jacques Goldman. His melodies are soft and subtle and the lyrics quite passionate without being saccharine. Edited December 13, 2013 at 02:47 AM by LukeD 5 Quote
