Iv'e gotta be the Debbie Downer on this track im afraid.... I just find it vocally "weak", it doesn't sound strong! I find the chorus really dreary! Its defintley not an "album standout" I hope it does not get released as a single because its taken me loads of plays to even "stand it". Just my thoughts, its great that people are digging it though!

Pretty sure It should be "and I melted" instead of meant it

and "careful where you spend the night" not "careful way to spend the night"

These are love song cliches after all

You've got to listen to this song as its own entity. We shouldn't have an album full of vocally soaring songs. (Although, I adore a great power ballad.) This song was intended to sound vulnerable, not strong -- and Celine steps into it with gorgeous interpretation. I think it's absolutely one of the standouts. While some of the other songs will follow a familiar formula, this song is far from predictable -- and is obviously produced by someone who understands the "art" of music making. Like JJG. Thank god for this kind of song on an ENGLISH album!

I have to admit I HATED the song when I heard the first snippet last year.

 

And I was wrong. It's an Eg White song, it's amazing, it's touching, it's heartfelt, the production is impeccable, from someone who has an exquisite taste in music. The beat, the mood, there's something going on in the chorus where even if the melody is swift there's a drive that lets the song flow. Something that I didn't see in "My Love", which I found really too slow, boring. I adore the 70s vibe, it throws me back to Gladys Knight and the Pips, and the bridge is almost Bee-Gees-sounding... the "lying" with that Amy Winehouse-Macy Gray voice which is a huge improvement over her "Janis Joplin impersonation" in TJTWIM. Here it does sound like Céline singing from her heart, maybe she's even getting better as an actress, getting ready for the Callas proyect.

 

I'm in love with the song. I recorded my own "acoustic" version. I hope you guys give it a listen and let me know if you like it!

I suggest this song is as close to Céline's French repertoire. It's simple, classy, understated and his touching lyrics, on a par with Je n'ai pas besoin d'amour.

Cool cover... you should be somekind of official coverer for the acoustic versions hehehe ;-) But I much preferred SLS cover... you give it a new look... This time I think this song ask for a Piano... I have seen piano covers from you! I'd love to hear you sing this one with the piano and your voice... Also, maybe DKL is in a higher note and your voice wins when you sing in a more intimate key.

Your cover sounds interesting but as the LMBTL one.... your voice suits better when you are in a lower key... no offense! You know I love SLS cover! (and the Video Games cover too)

Well... I must say that my music technic knowledge is null. I'm musically deaf. I just talk about personal feelings when I listen to singers. And here I have the feeling that you sounded more forced in LMBTL and this one than in SLS....
