davidjag79 Posted March 17, 2014 at 01:29 PM Posted March 17, 2014 at 01:29 PM @ karebear82 First, comparing artist at their peak (like Lady Gaga, well I think she passed her peak already, but anyway) with artists with more than 25 years careers in terms of popularity is stupid, of course Lady Gaga is more popular, she dresses meat and all that Second, the GLOBAL sales of LMBTL are fine, she is selling more or less what Madonna did with her last album, she has outsold Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera too and she will for sure outsell Mariah next album. When you compare sales to measure success again you shouldn't compare with artists at their peak because of course Celine will always sell less, as NOBODY was selling more than Celine between 1996 and 2000. And third, popularity is not only being in the tabloids. Celine has made the 2013 money makers Billboard list, that means that after 30 years career people still buy her albums and go to her concerts more than so many other names in the industry, and that to me is popularity AMEN! 2 Quote I have waited for so long...for a miracle to come, A New Day Has Come!! http://i49.tinypic.com/1q1q4i.jpg

CelinesDIVO5 Posted March 17, 2014 at 03:08 PM Posted March 17, 2014 at 03:08 PM im sorry if u think that my post was harsh, why was it harsh, cuz i told the truth instead of just looking thru rose colored sunglasses like some people like to do????!!!! im not trying to be mean, but celines "loved me back to life" album did not do well @ all here in the usa... now i know to many of u on here who dont live in america that doesnt matter @ all, & u all are well entitled to ur opinions about that, im not gonna take that away from anyone who doesnt care about the success of lmbtl in the usa... but i still do care since im an american myself & have been a fan of celines for over 20 years, & up until the past few years, celine used to be very popular here in america, now i dont know what in the heck has happened now... just like many other people on here, i really thought that people in the usa would have @ least liked lmbtl the song, or even would have liked "incredible" since its a duet w/ neyo, (who is very popular here in the usa these days), BUT YET THE ALBUM IS OFFICALLY DEAD IN THE USA NOW, & if u dont think that its dead in america now, then what would u call an album that was released only 4 months ago w/ NO singles on the billboard adult contemporary charts, NO music videos for any of the singles, & HAS ALREADY FALLEN OFF OF THE BILLBOARD TOP 200 ALBUMS CHARTS ONLY A FEW MONTHS OF RELEASE????!!!! to me that just screams dead album, which i think is a real crying shame!!!!!!!! & celine herself isnt even talking about the lmbtl album anymore when she was on the "squawk box" show on cnbc last week, she talked about her vegas show which is great, i understand that she has to promote her vegas shows so that people will keep coming to the shows... but what about the poor, neglected lmbtl album that celine herself said that she was proud of???????? i just wished that she would have talked a little bit about lmbtl so that maybe a few non-fans who watch the show might have heard about it in the interview, but havent gotten the album yet, & then maybe went out & bought the album or downloaded it from itunes or something after hearing her speak passionately about the album just like she does when speaking about her vegas shows these days lol... hell we know that the morons @ sony music usa have given up on celine already even before the album was released, like when that executive from sony said, (& i really dont care to look up the guys name cuz i think he sounded like a total jerk), when he spoke terrible about celine & about her promotion during an interview w/ billboard magazine, saying that "sony werent gonna try to get celines new album on adult contemporary radio or that there werent gonna be any music videos for lmbtl the song or for any others released, cuz she didnt need any promotion, she could sell just by her name, & blah blah blah, yadda yadda yadda" ... so if they were already acting so crappy about celines new album & the promotion of it months before the albums release, its no wonder that this is the end result, & it seems that poor celine has now given up on the lmbtl album too since she hasnt had much support or backup from sony who have given up on her after all these years, which is also a shame too., i wish that celine would ditch sony & go w/ another company cuz sony really stinks lol, ok yes i know that wont ever happen, but hey its some wishful thinking lol... & yes i am actually a fan of celines & not a troll, whatever the hell that is lol... im sorry if u dont believe that i am just cuz im telling the truth about her most recent albums current status in my country, i have said on here that i tend to tell things as they are, & as a fan of celines i really do wish that lmbtl would have done better in the usa, i think it should have gotten a fair shot since there were some very good songs on that album that could have maybe become hits, even minor ones, just like her previous albums, even if the album isnt on the same superb, fantastic level of "lets talk about love", or "falling into you", lmbtl is still great in its own right i think, & if the uk, canada, the netherlands, & a few other countries like that album, then i dont know why the usa didnt like it, cuz lets face the facts here, the usa, the uk, canada, & many other countries do sometimes share the same taste in music, thats why other singers & bands w/ current albums these days, such as beyonce, rihanna, miley cyrus, justin beiber, katy perry, lady gaga, one direction, cher, britney spears, imagine dragons, etc... all are on the same charts for the uk, canada, & other countries just like the usa, so the usa does have some influence on other countries when it comes to entertainment & vice-versa, & it has been that way for years now, its not just recently... &no, i dont like all of the current songs & singers that are popular in my country... now yes there are some songs & singers that i do like so im not saying all current music is bad cuz i dont think all of it is, but i do prefer older songs, im a child of the 80s & a teenager of the 90s, so thats what i grew up w/ & the music from those decades will always have a special place in my heart & soul, & i do think that music back in the day, just had more meaning & feelings than some of the crap thats out nowadays... thats why its so refreshing & awesome to have singers like celine still release albums every couple of years to bring some good music back into the world including here in the usa since this country is obsessed w/ nothing but rap, hiphop, miley, beyonce, gaga, beiber, eminem, rihanna, etc... & yes even tho i like some of their songs, i happen to like celines music sooooooo much better, in fact i like the 90s & 80s music soooooo much better than todays music, i wish that the current music still sounded like the great music back in the day... i really need a time machine right now lol... Okay, Celine is just not as popular as she used to be in the US and it's just something you need to accept. She's had a career that spans over 30 years and she's been popular in every major market there possibly could be. She's still very popular in France and Canada...her albums tend to chart high there, and her songs are even still played on radio. The American market is different. You either make it, or you don't. And when you do, you have X amount of time for your popularity. Not many artists can say that they've had huge success and had their popularity BLOW UP on both sides of the Atlantic. Some people have more time in the lime light than others, and some are lucky enough to have huge successes and become legendary. Celine was one of those singers. She has obtained legend status. She's not mainstream top 40 anymore, she's hit the pinnacle of her career. Celine hasn't been all that popular in terms of radio air play and having her name everywhere since about 2002-2003. It's just something that happens in every famous singer's career. Celine has taken it in stride and while not being a top 40 artist anymore, she still does things to keep her career and her name alive. She's a brand and a business and her team has done a good job at making sure her legend status is upheld. Her album didn't sell the best here in the US not because of lack of album promotion...Sony did a decent job for an artist that has more years and tons of albums over all of the younger, and currently popular singers. She's 45 and debuted at number 2!! That's pretty amazing if you ask me. It didn't sell well for other reasons...she's not popular anymore, a lot of people download music illegally, and she doesn't get radio air play because she's not in high demand for it anymore. This is what happens. Your "hey day" doesn't last forever. In terms of Celine, her "hey day" lasted a good 7 years, with an extremely impressive lead up. This isn't the 80's or 90's anymore so it's time to wake up and welcome 2014. The only thing more dead than this album is yours (or anyone else's) dreams for Celine to be number 1 on the radio, and leading the pack of all the younger singers. It's time to sit back, and just enjoy what your favorite singer is still providing for her fans. 6 Quote https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PL54qnRGM2gMatthew Charles - "Fix You" - Live at The Stonewall InnStonewall Sensation - Season 15Originally written and performed by Coldplay

donpi86 Posted March 17, 2014 at 03:57 PM Posted March 17, 2014 at 03:57 PM Hahaha.. I didn't expect too much with this song... so it is a simple cameo... Good, if she gets promo what I don't give a s**t about that... I'll take this as a tribute by and entertainment institutions as The Muppets, to the legend status of Celine Dion and not as a real effort of Celine to start as an actress (what I recomend she could start actually acting in the MUSIC Videos... hahahahaha) ... I mean, all we knew that it was going to be a cameo... like in a tv show, maybe one or two lines but nothing more... If there is no line... whatever, she was only going to say any pointless quote as "Good morning, Ms. Piggy.. lets sing a song!..." and start to sing... I'm curious to see the movie and I'm glad she is in there but not too excited, just because probably it is a funny movie as other Muppets movies... Quote

karebear82 Posted March 17, 2014 at 11:30 PM Posted March 17, 2014 at 11:30 PM Okay, Celine is just not as popular as she used to be in the US and it's just something you need to accept. It's time to sit back, and just enjoy what your favorite singer is still providing for her fans. yea we better enjoy this album, cuz people have been saying all over the internet hat cuz of celines lmbtl life album not doing well that celine might not be recording anymore albums, @ least ones in english , & i dont want that to happen & i know that u all dont want that to happen either, just admit u all dont!!!!!!!! i dont want lmbtl to be her last album ever, or even her last english album!!!!!!!! now i know her french music is still important to her since it is her first language & english is not, but if celine only recorded in french from now on, shes cutting herself away from many of her fans over the world, including the usa, the uk, & many other english speaking countries since not everyone can speak french & her french music isnt played in america, heck her french albums have never been sold in the stores here, the only way we can hear her french music is on youtube videos... & i dont have anything against her french music as i think some of the songs sound really good, but i like songs that i can understand the lyrics as i dont know a word of french or any other language besides english & some american sign language, but that doesnt really count as an actual language does it lol... shoot i think celine should just record her french songs in english, have the songwriters translate the lyrics in english... celine has already done that back in the 90s w/ "falling into you", some of the songs on that mega-selling, terrific album were from one of her french albums that were released the year before, "if thats what it takes", "i dont know", & "fly" are 3 that i know of that... the french versions were hits, & even tho the english versions of those songs werent released as singles, the fiy album is one of celine biggest selling albums of all time & is one of my all time favorite celine albums, & the songs on that album are very well known... so if celie had to, she could translate her french songs into english like she did back in 1996 & maybe she could still have some success in america & still record music in english too so that shes not cut off from us english speakers, especially for those of us who most likely wont ever get to afford to see celines show in vegas cuz we dont have thousands of dollars lying around lol... & no im not saying that she should still be #1 all the time & that she should be @ the same levels as the younger singers, what im saying is, older singers can still be successful w/out being compared to the younger croud, in my earlier post i listed cher, madonna, & mariah who all are still very current & successful in america none of them are in their 20s anymore either just like celine... so if they can be successful @their ages, so could celine, im tired of people in the usa & now on this forum saying that celine is waaaaay too oldddddd to have a hit single again or be played on radio again, for goodness sake, celine is only in her 40s, not in her 90s!!!!!!!! shes not as frickin old as as people are trying to make her out to be, heck shes younger than both of my parents are, & my parents arent nowhere near elderly yet!!!!!!!! & neither is celine!!!!!!!! age is nothing but a number!!!!!!!! She is old enough to do what she wants when she wants with who she wants. 6 Quote Plus qu'ailleurs , but now Si c'était à refaire , i still love tant de temps....

karebear82 Posted March 17, 2014 at 11:40 PM Posted March 17, 2014 at 11:40 PM (edited) @karebear82 : Is Mariah really had 4 hits in US for this upcoming album? I'm just curious because usually what hits in US will be hits in here too, but to be honest that four songs you mention barely evem played here. well maybe not all of them were #1 hits in the usa, but all 4 songs of mariahs that are supposed to be from her soon-to-be-released album did make it on the billboard charts & have been played on the usa top 40 radio stations, which is much more than i can say about poor celine & the lmbtl album, since none of her singles made in on the charts in the usa, & top 40 radio wont touch any of her songs & only a few out of hundreds of adult contemporary stations have played incredible, sad to say... yea i do like the songs almost home & #beautiful w/ miquel, but i wasnt really crazy about the art of letting go & youre mine, ive been a fan of mariahs over the years too, ever since back in the early 90s @ around the same time that i became a fan of celines, but i havent liked much of mariahs recent music in years except for a few songs, i think her 90s music is still the best!!!!!!!! btw, what country are u from, if u dont mind me asking???????? im just a little bit curious thats all lol... The feeling of the song gets lost in translation. oh sorry about that, i thought that songs from different languages could be translated, since celine had already done that w/ 3 previous songs... now granted if thats what it takes, i dont know, & fly werent the biggest & best celine songs ever, (even tho i like all 3 songs & fly is a dedication to her niece karine who died of cystic fibrosis so its very personal for celine & all), but they still sounded good just like the french versions do... heck up until a few years ago, i didnt know those songs were originally in french!!!!!!!! like i have already previously stated, i didnt hear any of her french songs until a few years after watching her videos on youtube since none of her french albums are available where i live @, yes i have always known that she recorded in french since i first heard one of her interviews back in the 90s, but i have never heard any of her french songs until years later on youtube, since like i have already said before her french music is pretty much ignored in america, & in fact most foreign language music in general, except for some spanish, is pretty much ignored in america as well... sorry if i sound ignorant & uneducated about the french language & about foreign languages in general, like i said i can only speak english & some american sign language!!!!!!!! i will 100% fully admit, i have never been good @ learning to speak or to write or read in other languages period since i took 3 years of spanish in school & i cant remember one word of spanish after all these years!!!!!!!! CelinesDIVO5 Posted March 18, 2014 at 04:43 PM Posted March 18, 2014 at 04:43 PM again why do people keep using celines age of 45 going on 46 as an excuse as to why her album "loved me back to life" failed in the usa & saying that she can never be successful again or have a comeback here in the usa cuz "shes way too old", to me that is total b.s., cuz there are other singers who are THE SAME AGE OR ARE OLDER THAN CELINE who are still popular here in the usa these days... heres a few examples for ya: CHER, who right now is IN HER LATE 60s, IS MORE THAN 20 YEARS OLDER than celine is, & has released her first album in OVER 10 YEARS, but yet her album is selling VERY good here in the usa, & shes STILL w/in the billboard 100 album charts!!!!!!!! & chers new album came out before celines did, yet celines album fell out of the billboard charts almost 2 months ago!!!!!!!! & yes celine having a 30 YEAR CAREER IS IMPRESSIVE, i never said that it wasnt, but chers career has lasted 50 YEARS NOW, SHES BEEN PERFORMING SINCE THE 60s, but yet is still well liked in america!!!!!!!! & while yes i like some of chers music, (mainly her older stuff such as "if i could turn back time" & "believe", i dont really care for her current stuff that much except for a couple of songs), i like celines music a whole lot better & i think that celines voice is waaaaay better than chers voice is, heck cher has said that herself on a video somewhere on youtube a few years ago!!!!!!!! & heres another example: MADONNA, who right now is IN HER LATE 50s, IS MORE THAN 10 YEARS OLDER than celine is, & still sells albums very good here in the usa as well!!!!!!!! her last few albums released in recent years did better in the usa than lmbtl has, & madonnas career has lasted OVER 30 YEARS JUST LIKE CELINES HAS!!!!!!!! & same w/ cher, i like some of madonnas music, but i prefer her older music from the 80s & early 90s, (my favorite songs from madonna are "cherish", "holiday", "borderline", & "papa dont preach"), i havent cared for any of madonnas current music in over a decade now, since the 90s madonna has been mostly about the shock values & gimmicks, which singers like miley, gaga, britney, & christina have been trying to imitate over the years by their own shocking, crazy stunts, & her music has never been the same ever since, celine @ least has remained more about the actual music & not about shocking, crazy behavior unlike madonnas has during the past 20 years, so i think that most of celines current music is so much better than madonnas current music is!!!!!!!! & the best example of all: MARIAH CAREY, WHO IS ONLY 2 YEARS YOUNGER THAN CELINE IS NOW!!!!!!!! mariahs new album isnt even out yet, but yet mariah has had 4 hit singles from that albumalready: "almost home", "#beautiful", "the art of letting go", & her most recent hit "youre mine", & mariahs album isnt due to be released until sometime in may!!!!!!!! The reason Celine's age keeps coming up is because she is over 40 and radio discriminates against female singers over the age of 40. They don't play their songs, and if they do it's very mininmal. Cher's album is no longer in the Billboard top 200, and it hasn't been for awhile. As of right now, her sales for "Closer To The Truth" are at 300,000 in the US. (By the end of 2013, Celine's "Loved Me Back To Life" had sold 224,000 copies). None of Cher's latest singles have charted on the Billboard Hot 100. "I Hope You Find It" peaked at 20 on the AC chart, which makes it her most successful single from this album. The only reasons for Cher's success with "Believe" in 1999/2000 is because she did a lot of self promotion for the song because she really (no pun intended) believed that the song could be a hit, and she made it happen. She also released the song at the very tail end of the big diva wave where people's taste in music was just about to change to the bubble gum pop of Britney Spears and boy bands and rock music. Madonna is a lost cause at this point, and her last album "MDNA" would not have sold as many copies as it did if they hadn't given a copy of the album with every ticket sold for her most recent tour. Just because the album "sold well" doesn't mean that it was good. People didn't have a choice but to get the album with their purchased concert tickets. Her single "Gimme All Your Luvin'" reached number 10 on the Hot 100 due to sales after her appearance on The Superbowl Halftime show. People will buy anything just because it's trending on twitter. But her chart position was not much related to airplay as it quickly fell off the charts as well. Mariah Carey is almost done too. "Almost Home" was not a hit at all. It didn't even chart on the Hot 100, neither did "The Art Of Letting Go." Her latest single "You're Mine" peaked on the Hot 100 at 88...not really a hit either. "#Beautiful" was her most successful single from the album, peaking at number 15 on the Hot 100 only due to a radio air play deal that her label made for certain mainstream radio stations to spin it. Then it quickly fell off the charts after the radio deal expired. The day of the radio diva is over. The music scene has changed drastically, and it's never going to go backward to where it was in the 90's. You're just going to have to accept that Celine will 99.9% never be played on top 40 radio again. She's having a hard time even with the AC format, as are the other 3 ladies you've mentioned. Just enjoy what Celine is still doing rather than how much she sells, or what chart position she's going to garner. I think she'd much rather us listen and enjoy than have us worrying about the logistics of her music after she's had her major success and been on top of the world already. 5 Quote https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PL54qnRGM2gMatthew Charles - "Fix You" - Live at The Stonewall InnStonewall Sensation - Season 15Originally written and performed by Coldplay

I think you downplay the success of Believe. It wasn't just down to promotion efforts. A lot of its success was down to the fact that the song re-defined modern music, as it used experimental recording and production techniques. It used autotune of her vocals at a correction speed that was "too fast for the audio it was processing", providing the distinctive robotic sound that made the track so recognisable. These methods were so radical that Warner Bros wanted it removed, but Cher refused and since then autotune has become a big production element in music ever since. There are very few defining songs in history that push the boundaries of what is possible in music in a way that Believe did. The only other example that comes to my mind right now is "I Feel Love" by Donna Summer (1975). This was the very first song to utilise a fully-synthesised backing track, giving a totally futuristic and cosmic sound to the already-established disco genre, which actually led to the development of techno music in the 80s. 2 Quote

This was the very first song to utilise a fully-synthesised backing track, giving a totally futuristic and cosmic sound to the already-established disco genre, which actually led to the development of techno music in the 80s. I agree, the song did have a revolutionary sound, which is why Cher believed in the song so strongly...but in the US, Cher was having a hard time getting radio to play it when she first released it. She had to do a lot of self promotion as to where people kept seeing her perform the song and then in turn were requesting to hear it on top 40 radio. The extremely high demand to hear it after Cher's promotional efforts forced top 40 radio DJs to play the song. Cher wasn't "cool" in 1998/99. It had been almost 3 years since she had put a record out. It's predecessor "It's A Man's World" (in my opinion her best vocal performance. It was ON POINT.) only peaked at 64 on the Billboard 200. She wasn't even on people's minds at the time "Believe" was released. While the song garnered positive reviews, it took 3 months to reach the top 40, and 5 months to reach number 1. In 1998/99 that was a long time, and a huge chart climb. Most songs that were going to be hits usually debuted in the top 40. But it took awhile because top 40 DJs just weren't interested in it at first. Had Cher not pushed with the heavy self promotion that she did, the song probably would have gone almost unnoticed in the US. I'm not downplaying it's success at all. I am a HUGE Cher fan. "Believe" is what turned me on to her and I have researched her entire career extensively. It's very interesting to read about actually.
