LukeD Posted August 21, 2013 at 03:55 AM Posted August 21, 2013 at 03:55 AM Legacy of a singer can ONLY be the following things: - Singers who were influenced by the singer's music or singing or performing. - Songs/Albums that passed into the following generation, considered classics. In Celine's case examples of such songs would be MHWGO, BYLM, TPOL, ABM, PQTME. - Some special achievement. In Celine's case, it's the fact that she introduced francophone music into a wider audience. She has been rewarded for this in 2008! - Sales and popularity have nothing to do with legacy. What we need to do is bring information and references that prove Celine's impact, so that we can create a specific ''Legacy'' section in Wikipedia. For example, try to find interviews or articles where singers praise Celine, mention her as an influence etc. Quote

How many times did MHWGO got called best soundtrack song.... Time magazine called her the leading Diva in 1996... all the high Canadian and French achivements like Legioen de Honneur... so many artists saying the love her or listening to her while growing up etc... IMO you can't really say what someone's legacy is... untill they have passed away. And even then it's still a matter of years untill you can truely conclude what the legacy precisely is! 3 Quote http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v75/daveyh84/incognito198701_zpsaaootxh1.jpgRick, ik hou van jou voor altijd!A New Day... has come 28/29 April & 2/3 May 07Antwerpen 13 et 14 mai,Paris 24 et 25 mai, Amsterdam 2 juinet Arras 7 juillet Chances Taken!!!How Do You Keep The Music Playing? - Celine Opening Night March 15th, March 16th

Nobody praised Beyonce here. However, her fans cared enough to make her a section and half of things posted there are valid and prove her impact. LukeD Posted August 21, 2013 at 08:15 AM Posted August 21, 2013 at 08:15 AM en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regine_Velasquez It says Regine held a series of concerts singing songs from singers who have influenced her career and Celine songs were included. It a known fact Regine loves Whitney/Mariah/Celine, she has been copying their songs note-to-note in tons of her perfomances. Quote

If you can bring interviews/articles of singers saying they were inspired by Celine, you'll help a lot. We are trying to see what her legacy is SO FAR..! This is an important point... cos when Céline was up and coming and on the highest of her popularity (and the time she was praised a lot in the media) there was no such thing as internet let alone Wikipedia! Fans were never busy with copy and pasting everthing on a single page. Now it would be harder to find all the sources.... unlike Beyonce cos most of her praise is digital. Céline should have a legacy part tho. She might never been controversial or reinventing but her place and influences in the pop history should not be denied! LukeD Posted August 21, 2013 at 07:02 PM Posted August 21, 2013 at 07:02 PM I mentioned ''performing'' above, I guess this is what you mean by ''concerts''. A ''classic'' song: A song that is known in the following generations, covered by numerous artists. NOT fan-favorites, but songs that scream ''CELINE DION'' to the public. 1 Quote
