Yentl Anchel Posted February 16, 2013 at 12:44 PM Posted February 16, 2013 at 12:44 PM Hi, just this true Google Alerts Strip Scribbles: Celine Dion to extend her residency at Caesars Palace By Robin LeachThursday, Feb. 14, 2013 As superstar singer Celine Dion ends her second consecutive year of sold-out performances and starts her third and final year of her current contract, I am reliably told that she’ll be extending at least two years, and maybe two more after that.Celine returns to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace next Tuesday and will perform with the 31-piece orchestra through March 16. Tickets for summer shows go on sale Friday; her first dates in the third year are June 4 through Sept. 1.“She’s definitely planning to go for years four and five,” I was told. “If all continues to go well, there will be years six and seven -- and, who knows, maybe even beyond that. She’s very happy and feels right at home on The Strip.” so if this is all is true Céline will be in Vegas till around march 2018.. The twins will be almost 8 then and Céline 50. I think that's a good age to do another world tour, and show to world to the twins! Quote Elle est mon idéal, La plus grande étoileWill be going to Celine march 2 and 5 2016 and June 20 and 21 2016
Bell Posted February 16, 2013 at 12:49 PM Posted February 16, 2013 at 12:49 PM Or a good age to reitre. I've hated this second Vegas thing from the very beginning. It seems she'll just stay there forever. Quote 16 YEARS A FORUM MEMBER
Yentl Anchel Posted February 16, 2013 at 01:05 PM Author Posted February 16, 2013 at 01:05 PM yeah well, we all know Celine doesn't "care" as much anymore for her career as in the beginning! It is now just all for fun, and her priority levels changed completely! I don't really care if I have to go to Vegas or any other country... I think this whole Vegas deal is just good for Céline, Rene RC Nelson, Eddy and Maman Dion 1 Quote Elle est mon idéal, La plus grande étoileWill be going to Celine march 2 and 5 2016 and June 20 and 21 2016
browseceline Posted February 16, 2013 at 02:03 PM Posted February 16, 2013 at 02:03 PM mmm well.. For some reason I am not surprised that Celine throws away her career and stays in that Theatre until the she stops singing. She can have stability as well when quitting Vegas and once release a cd now and then, enjoy life and do a worldtour. In fact this Vegas thing is getting out of hand and I am getting sick from it. I bet the setlist won't change for a longtime and she will sing those chewed out songs for the rest of her life. Now we are waiting for a cd that never seems to be released - yes - maybe christmas? Priorities have changed , I know that. But it is clear that she does not give a # about her career anymore. 2 Quote <iframe width="640" height="390" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/hl2XkxnYljg" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Davey84 Posted February 16, 2013 at 03:15 PM Posted February 16, 2013 at 03:15 PM part of me is sad by this news, cos it will probably mean a very less active Céline, although we can still hope and pray for some mini tours...but also it makes me happy, cos even though she is locked up in Vegas, Céline is still performing and not retired at home!! Popular Post empress Posted March 25, 2013 at 09:40 PM Popular Post Posted March 25, 2013 at 09:40 PM Some of this is just silly talk. Her career is NOT over. Also, they have never disclosed before the amount of years she will be in residency. They wait and see how the audience/fan response is. Apparently, the response is good enough for Rene to lay that date out on the table publicly. She loves to perform in that theatre and it gives her great stability and lets her enjoy life with her family. It is her life. Her albums will continue to sell and people from all around the world will continue to see her show in Las Vegas. As fans, we should be happy for her! 8 Quote
Mattie Posted March 26, 2013 at 12:20 AM Posted March 26, 2013 at 12:20 AM (edited) I myself have to be going to college within the next few coming years and I was planning on moving to LV, it looks like such a fun place to be at and UNLV looks like a great college aswell. It would be nice to be able to go to her shows every year if I lived there. I think it's a great idea she extended her residency. Sure we won't see a lot of her anymore but at least people will still get to be able to see her sing. And besides, being at Caesars is the way we do get to see her sing right? The only thing though is I seriously hope she changes her speeches. Those won't last another 5 years. Mattie Posted March 26, 2013 at 10:10 PM Posted March 26, 2013 at 10:10 PM From The Red Heads; Here is how Celine sees life after Las Vegas: "I do not know what it will be like. I did a world tour which was very exhausting. I'm not saying that I'll never tour again around the world, but I will perhaps do it in phases, a month in Europe for example. And perhaps do one day unplugged shows. It would be the opposite of what I normally do." 1 Quote ♦︎ july 7, 2012 - las vegas, nevadahttp://i59.tinypic.com/11tluus.png
tristan.josef Posted March 27, 2013 at 01:48 AM Posted March 27, 2013 at 01:48 AM i think its funny whenever there are rumors or confirmation of extensions or residency in Vegas there's inevitably talk and occasionally a small uproar of people saying her career is over, but i think the thing that's being missed is in Celine's eyes, she's already HAD a career. obviously she still wants to perform and sing because it is a passion of hers, but of course we all know family comes first with her, and if there wasn't a way to balance the two or if her family time/life began to suffer, we all know she would give up the "career" side in a heartbeat. plus, she's been around for 30 years already which is wayyyy longer than most artists ever get. she's clearly no longer concerned with the typical moves that contribute to current relevance or status, (i.e. put out an album, tour to support, promo, appearances, endorsements, repeat) so i think the vegas show alone is completely a bonus. yes as long as she puts out a new album every so often the business side and Sony want to make it as successful as possible for the money, but i think celine could care less how many albums she sells now. whether she goes multi platinum or only sells 1,000 copies, i think as long as she has her family and can do the most low-key and stable version of performing, (which is undoubtedly Vegas) she is content. i know all the negative comments come out of love for her and wanting to see her succeed, but she already HAS. she's already the biggest female international artist of all time, and she's mid 40s now. her priorities have changed. and i understand the argument about international fans not getting to see her as easily and such and agree that is regrettable, but for celine vegas is clearly the best case scenario. and i dont blame her one bit because if i was in her shoes i'd do the same. you get everything taken care of, a fat paycheck, time and stability with your family, a show you are proud of in a world-class venue where people continue to flock by the thousands to see you. what's not to love about that? and i think it's fantastic that we're getting new albums period on top of that show alone. in my eyes, i am grateful for vegas because i truly believe it's the difference between getting to see her and her "retiring." just my two cents on the whole matter. so i say yay to 5 more years in vegas...and here's to hoping this inspires lots of changes within the show to keep it fresh and constantly evolving! 6 Quote

Jamieb12321 Posted March 27, 2013 at 11:18 PM Posted March 27, 2013 at 11:18 PM I think it's great!! There's no wondering when or if she will perform any fan can just go to vegas and see her whenever they want to! Also when she tours she's in huge venues and in vegas it's so small and intimate which is a great place to see her. I went to Jamaica to see her and even tho I was in front row it was just so big and she couldn't interact with her fans she was barricaded up on the stage. I hope she always stays in vegas so she is available to fans all the time!! Quote

I don't think he said it was an 8-year residency from the beginning; I thought he had said that the original 3 year deal was signed back in 2006 or 2007, but they didn't tell anyone then, and then, from her first show in 2011, they started talking about extending the contract and eventually ended up with 5 more years. Yes it was a 3-year contract that was signed at the end of 2007. But when she returned in 2011, they re-negotiated and the contract ended up to be 8 years in total (beginning in 2011) . aafass Posted March 28, 2013 at 11:09 AM Posted March 28, 2013 at 11:09 AM So by saying it's "not an extension," it means the deal was always eight years. I love the current show, but I was hoping it meant they would be doing a different show. By not extending the current one, they would be changing it up and doing something new! Quote
Guest Reuben Posted March 29, 2013 at 11:43 AM Posted March 29, 2013 at 11:43 AM Celine's international career is OVER - confirmed. Don't know why I still bother... Frankly as time goes by I listen less and less to her. Other artists seem to cherish their careers, this appears not to be the case here. As Ive said before Celine's career seems to be in an idle mode while she and others make millions and dont care about the long-term quality. Most people (non fans) when saying something about Celine say "but why is she in las vegas?" My attitude is more of an "Ok you did a great show a few years there, it is time to move on." Truthfully, Id rather she wasnt doing anything in the music industry rather than continue in Vegas. Quote

People from all corners of the world come to see her in Las Vegas and her French album ''Sans Attendre'' was highly sucesfull in the francophne countries. Not to mention that her upcoming concert in Quebec city will be sold out within just a couple of minutes. This just shows us that her internationnal carrer is still very alive. 2 Quote

Im sorry but if you chose to be an international star there are somethings that come with the territory and the first is being truthful to your fans and producing high quality music as well as show some creativity in concerts, especially when charging 250 dollars for them. Staying more than a decade in one place in a show that hasnt changed much (if any?) recycling old songs on a new album does not check any of these boxes. Many artists when you go see them perform live with change the songs slightly, offer new interpretations, especially if they do a cover. The only time Celine and her team have done this has been Im Alive and Je nai pas Besoin de Damour (from what I recall). Usually Celine stands there and sings the same song night in night out, often playback from what Ive understood, couldve just as well listened to the CD or the original recording when it comes to covers. There is a reason why other artists are played on the radio frequently, because they are out there, they are creative, they offer something new. Not washed up songs like Unfinished Songs, I cant believe that Diane Warren would write something that bad and that someone thought it was a good idea for one of the most successful artists to record it. There needs to be new management to Celines career or it will continue in the dumpsters. Quote
