chocolatechip15 Posted February 9, 2013 at 11:19 PM Posted February 9, 2013 at 11:19 PM In Celine's autobiography, she says, "I've always considered D'Eux to be my most successful album, the most fully realized from every point of view. It's also one of her most personal, and she says that "D'Eux is basically the story of Rene and me." So I'm trying to understand the meaning of each of the songs for Celine. She has said that Je Sais Pas is the song that fits her the most -- she's strong and bounces back quickly, but doesn't know about surviving in a world without the people she loves. (And I've seen her quote in interviews "je suis pas victime; je suis pas colombe" (I'm not a victim; not a dove). Pour Que Tu M'Aimes Encore seems to be about the way she loves -- the intense, all-consuming nature of it; J'Irais ou Tu Iras also seems to be about the lifestyle of Celine and Rene at that time, traveling all the time, finding home in each other. Vole is obviously about Karine, and Destin would seem to be about her destiny of being a performer. But what about the other songs? Regarde-Moi? Le Ballet? These sound like they may be about the overwhelming nature of show business? For La Memoire D'Abraham and Priere Paienne, I have no idea. And Cherche Encore? Les Derniers Sont Les Premiers? Just wondering what other's thoughts are about the meaning of these songs for Celine. 2 Quote
Celine Fan 77 Posted February 10, 2013 at 07:53 AM Posted February 10, 2013 at 07:53 AM I remember she talked about the meaning of 'Les Derniers Seront Les Premiers' in an interview diuring one of those TV specials to support the album. I think she said something like everytime she is in her limousine and looks through the window and sees the poor people, sitting down on the street and askin for money, she always thinks "in another life, the last ones will be the first ones". This made me think that she probably believes in re-encarnation (like me) apart of being catholic. 1 Quote Tournée Européenne in Paris (December 1, 2013)Céline Dion Live 2016 in Antwerp (June 20, 2016)Céline Dion Live 2017 in Birmingham (July 27, 2017)

She could stop , but won't do it, even if it makes her overwhelmed in a certain way. It is like a giant amusement park ride, that you like but let you stunted at the end. She is afraid ,but will continue. And in the end she wonders what this is all about...wants to understand but know she won't. 4 Quote Plus qu'ailleurs , but now Si c'était à refaire , i still love tant de temps....

I never understood the French well enough to get this song. . but now it makes sense as a song for Celine. It's even a little bit of the same themes you see Linda Perry tackling in My Love. 1 Quote
