That's crazy! That's some serious jealousy issues Mariah is battling. I can't imagine what it must feel like to know that someone you used to hold a candle to vocally (sort of) can now sing circles around you… Mariah lost her voice little by little over the years. I wonder why, other than age? Celine certainly was the extreme example of taking care of her voice. And that became a way of life for her. But the A New Day… Vegas years were very grueling on Celine -- and when she came back for "Celine", her voice was in the best shape it's been in since the 90s! 4 Quote

I know from things she's said that she probably found Celine going toe to toe with Aretha to be in bad taste, just because Mariah is SUPER reverent of her predecessors and will give them the spotlight as much as she can out of respect. But that was 15 years ago. Mariah said in 2010 that she talked to Celine or something when it came to trying to get pregnant. I'm sure there's no ill will there. I also think she'd hold back a lot in order to give them the spotlight, and you'd get a lot of dim people assuming she's "lost it" but whatever, we know what's up. Amber totally dodged that note in The Power Of Love. When she started singing in the original key I was like "OH NO, SHE'S NOT ABOUT TO TRY IT." And she didn't. Of course everyone remembers Celine's version as it was the biggest hit. But Jennifer's version hit number one in the UK. Laura Branigan also had a Top 40 hit with it in 88 in the US.
