i saw this AI schedule on a MC site, and it says they going to Las Vegas in Feb, make me think that it's possible that Celine would appear in the show!

Celine is Vegas at this time. Lord jumpins, I hope she takes advantage of this. How nuts they would be to NOT take advantage of this opportunity when she's launching a new single/album this spring and this show reaches tens of millions of households in America?

I can't wait for the contestants in auditions to be singing Celine songs! I always love seeing them attempt them (a mighty feat) and then hearing the judges feedback...this time Mariah Carey will have to give her opinion on some of Celine's classics!

I loved that she praised Mariah, but right after she finished praising her, Nicki said, what are you singing? She replied, Celine Dion's "The Prayer". It was kinda funny, as you'd expect for her to say that she was singing a Mariah tune.

Kree Harrison: Celine Dion’s “Have You Ever Been in Love” | Much like Candice’s second performance, Kree’s was a strongly sung, pitch-perfect (well, except for the opening note) cover of a song that’s as exciting as dryer lint. (Actually, I take that back: Removing lint from the dryer — and marveling at its fabric-esque cohesiveness — is one of my favorite unofficial household responsibilities.) I could go on about how I wish Kree had done “Taking Chances” or “I Drove All Night” or even “Where Does My Heart Beat Now,” but they can’t all be “Evidence” or “Up to the Mountain” or “What the World Needs Now,” I suppose. Nicki, neck deep in a pool of hyperbole that she’ll probably be stuck in through mid-May, went on and on about how Kree isn’t country, she’s worldly, she’s iconic, she’s Adele, she’s Celine, she’ll be as viable at 20 as she is at 50 (whoops! she’s already 22!), and that “Have You Ever Been in Love” had just elevated her personal net worth. I like Kree but didn't like her singing this song! I may be a bit biased though. HYEBIL is one of my favs.

That review comes courtesy of TVLine, the best Idol recapping site, for any Idol fans out there who haven't seen it before. They do great video recaps every week, and they interview every ousted contestant and ask the questions people actually want to know about. They also call the show out on its ridiculous machinations, but neither here nor there.

 

I thought Kree did a great job, and like Nicki said, it showed that she could comfortably do something in that lane. I was surprised she chose to do that song, as I'd read earlier she was doing My Heart Will Go On. She didn't do my favorite part of the song, but then it's not in the radio edit either so even Celine never did my favorite part. She also did it in a higher key. We had a bit of that tonight; Kree sang in a higher key than Celine did initially, and Amber sang Without You in a higher key than Mariah did; the difference being that Kree benefited from the change, while (imo) Without You lost a bit of something and didn't show Amber at her best.

I hate this HYEBIL. I don't know why, but I just hate it. Maybe cos we were cheated and it was on two studio albums. Or maybe cos the video was a horrid start to the desert-themed music videos we kept on getting from then on. I just don't know why this song grates on my nerves.

 

And then, Kree comes and sings it. When I found she was gonna cover Celine, I was like WTH?!?! AWESOME! But then I found out the song. And I nearly skipped it. Oh Lord, glad I didn't. She did an amazing job. I'm not sure I'll ever like Celine's version, but Kree's version made me not 'hate' the song anymore. The only gripe I'd have regarding the performance is that I'd have loved to listen to what Mariah would have had to say about Celine but she didn't sadly. Oh well, we already know how she feels about her though

I concur with you, dear Dhruvie. I'm always desperate to hear what Mariah has to say about Celine, and nothing... nothing... nothing! I guess the only time I've heard her say her name was when she said that she was going to take one of her gowns or something like that backstage at the Divas Live Concert in 98.

Yeah, it's a big showcase of Mariah's insecurities (I am a fan of Mariah's early music, btw). Mariah does not often praise other artists. And Mariah does not self deprecate. Those are two big signs of deep rooted insecurity…

 

But Mariah did mention Celine by name a while ago -- how Celine's pregnancy/twins/infertility struggles were all an inspiration during Mariah's pregnancy. I thought that giving birth was going to make Mariah feel more comfortable in her skin and stop coming across so plastic and cold. But, that has not happened.

mariah never says celine's name even at an interview where they were talking about celine inspiring her to get pregnant, mariah said she, and then Nick directly said Celine Dion lol!
