I'm resurrecting this topic.

Is it worth getting the K2 Remaster of Falling Into You? How is the sound compared to the regular CD, or any other versions or the album? Is this the "best" sound quality of Falling Into You that exist, or is there something better?

I've heard that the SACD version isn't that great, so I'm hoping this might be better.

IMO an album should be released in the best possible quality right away, and not years after it’s official release. Moreover, this better version should replace all the other versions on digital streaming and download platforms, so when you buy a digital version of the album it will already be the better sound version. Why don’t they do it that way?

Do you own it and know what it sounds like? I just bought it yesterday, so I'm excited to see what the difference is when it arrives.

I don't have it unfortunately. But I want to get me the SACDs of All the Way and ANDHC. Do you know if I can play them through a BluRay player on a 5.1 sound system? Or is there another device required?

Those SACD's are great. I think most blu-ray players can play them, but not all of them. So just google your model and see if it supports SACD's. If you blu-ray player doesn't support it, I think it's smarter to get a new blu-ray player that supports SACD's instead of buying a SACD player. Most blu-ray players with SACD compatibility are cheaper than SACD players these days.

You can’t exactly release it in the best quality of that technology doesn’t exist at the time of the album’s release.

Album: Falling into You

iTunes:

#268 Australia

#447 Canada

Apple Music:

#1033 United Kingdom

I've said this in another thread but seriously, this means nothing.

FIY literally sold 9 digital copies this past week in Canada, and 5 the week before that.

And that's across all platforms that sell downloads - iTunes, Amazon, various niche & local digital stores, so iTunes-specific numbers are even lower than that. That's how little it takes for download charts in 2020.

I think difference in the sound compared to the cd is slim. With a great stereo I hear a slight difference. I'd say buy the disc for its great packaging instead of pure sound quality. The packaging is really nice.

If you are after better or at least different sound buy the SACDs. They sound slightly better but they have the 5.1 mix which makes the music much more engaging and fun to listen to. Especially ANDHC which is great in terms of the audio mix, I think. A decade of songs is ok overall. The newer songs have a great mix while the older ones not so great.

Do you like the packaging of it?

I really like it. I like the sleeve it's in and the book-style case. It feels luxury when I take it out. Although I don't like how the cd is fitted in the case, that it is slipped in. It's just a hassle to get it out and more hassle to get it back in. Especially with that protection sleeve. Also I'm paranoid as hell in scratching the cd with or without protection sleeve. I would prefer if it was stuck on like a regular case.

Besides that I wish more special editions would be like this.

I agree with the fells of luxury, i do like mine, the booklet seems to be better then the original one and the brazilian one, i like that they are numbered and the back

The cd thing is kinda strange, different from regular releases, it doesn’t bother me that much.

Its a nice release, bur in terms of sound i can not really tell the difference, i fell that sounds better but nothing so supreme.

The problem is that the general public doesn't care. Just look how popular MP3 became when it was discovered by the general public. The quality was/is really bad compared to CD. People seem to rather have a bad product for free than pay for a great product.

Better production/sound costs more and when people does not care anyway there is no reason to make it as good as possible. It's all about making money and not a good product nowadays. :(

Also they make some extra money with limited, special, deluxe editions etc. Many here probably has multiple different editions of the same album. And that is a win for the record labels.

For some reason Japan prints/releases tend to sound better in general. Don't know why but maybe because they care how it sounds.

But I agree with you that it would be awesome if they released the best version from the start. :)
