ashtonelijah Posted August 4, 2012 at 11:49 PM Posted August 4, 2012 at 11:49 PM Looks like Celine will be in the UK before Christmas to promote the release of Water & a Flame... Where she will lip sync on a TV show, because she is a perfectionist and "freaks out" if she hits a wrong note. If they were squabbling over Madonna, Kylie, Britney or Beyonce, I could understand the almighty clash... But the true battle between BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing and ITV’s X Factor is for... Celine Dion. And it’s become bitchy. The rival shows have been fighting their hearts out for the powerhouse vocalist over past weeks. Amazingly, I’m told Strictly has won – and Celine will belt out some classic hits on the ballroom show in the lead-up to Christmas. It is bound to annoy X Factor bosses that the French-Canadian singer – famed for THAT Titanic song – has chosen to warble her way on to the BBC to appear alongside Tess Daly and Brucie instead of joining Team Cowell. A pal of Celine’s tells me the Beeb has agreed to pick up ALL her costs to fly in and appear on the show to promote album Water and a Flame – which features a stonker of a duet with Stevie Wonder. “It’s been insane,” says my mole. “X Factor wanted contestants to fly out to Las Vegas and sing live. Celine doesn’t tend to do anything like that these days because she’s a perfectionist with her vocals. “She always likes pre-recorded performances because she freaks out big time if she gets a note wrong. “Celine’s taken advice and decided Strictly’s the way forward. They said they’d pick up all her costs and pulled out all the stops to get her on board. “She will be flown in with her team, perform ‘live’ on a pre-record and jet back to Vegas to continue her shows there. It will be a whistle-stop visit but will do the job to promote the album. “X factor must be gutted. They thought Celine was one of the secret weapons they could pull in, especially with so many artists unavailable or on down-time between albums.” But little does Strictly realise what it’s got itself into. My source says it could cost more than £200,000 to make her performance a reality. “She doesn’t do anything by halves. She will have a team of people – stylists, make-up, hair and her PA. Then there’s first-class tickets for everyone, luxury hotels and expenses. It will cost an absolute fortune for the show.” http://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news...dancing-1218479 Quote http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v27/warathogwarts/lovedmebackbanner.jpg

Peppercorn1991 Posted August 5, 2012 at 02:36 AM Posted August 5, 2012 at 02:36 AM (edited) Ohhh how i hate the Mirror! For people who dont know, The mirror is a rubbish newspaper in the UK who will try to make a story out of anything, they love the drama of things even if there isnt any, so they make it themselves. Personally, take everything it says with a pinch of salt The only thing i can think about is.... WHY cant she do both? hmm there is an idea. If everyone knew what the Mirror is like, then you would understand what i mean. Its 99% garbage. Shamrock_1982 Posted August 5, 2012 at 10:14 AM Posted August 5, 2012 at 10:14 AM (edited) Just spoke to my contact at Sony and nothing is confirmed at the minute... Although if it is true, I'm happy that they chose Strictly this time around, as they get more viewers, the age of people who watch it differ alot unlike Xfactor, and its more of a polished and professional show that showcases the music, the glamour, the over all presentation, and could do wonders for the album promo. If she were to fit in one other show I hope its The Paul O' Grady show, as that show would show the different side to Celine, the side that only the diehard fans see: her down to earth, funny, and charming side, and obviously she would perform also. wjd Posted August 5, 2012 at 10:40 AM Posted August 5, 2012 at 10:40 AM It would be amazing if she perform in X-Factor. but them chose... Sricktly WHO???? In terms of average audience, Strictly Come Dancing is consistently the most viewed entertainment show of the year, in the UK; X Factor has bigger peaks, but it doesn't usually keep its audiences for as long as Strictly does. So X Factor might peak at 11.5m viewers with its opening show, and Strictly might peak at 10m, but Strictly will keep say 9m of those for the entire show, whereas X Factor will shed a good 3m of those and average at like 8m. Its all to do with the demographic; one thing I will say, is that if she wants another hit single, she needs to release a CD version as the Strictly audience demographic aren't entirely comfortable with the advances in technology! That being said, they are the kind of audience demographic that buys albums - hundreds of thousands of albums - so this could be pretty epic. In 2007, Celine's X Factor performance did nothing for the Taking Chances single [in the week she performed, the single climbed from its initial peak of #58 to a new peak of #40] - who knows what a Strictly performance would do! EmmaCeline Posted August 5, 2012 at 07:22 PM Posted August 5, 2012 at 07:22 PM agree with the comment about the mirror. they totally blow things out of proportion,, i wouldn't take anything they say seriously. Butttt... if the rumour is true i kind of prefer her to be on xfactor, she's done it once before, it gets wayyyyy higher ratings than strictly and the audience is mainly younger meaning she'd be reaching other age groups she doesn't normally hit. Quote
Shamrock_1982 Posted August 5, 2012 at 07:35 PM Posted August 5, 2012 at 07:35 PM She's done xfactor and it done nothing for the single or album... Strictly is a smarter move and I'm not even a fan of that show but it makes sense. And regarding the mirror I normally don't read it but they reported the news first back in 2007 that she was rumoured to be on Xfactor... So watch this space Quote
fred Posted August 5, 2012 at 09:29 PM Posted August 5, 2012 at 09:29 PM Love how you all deny the fact that this article says she's lipping. So, she will lip to some old hits. I'd rather have her not show up at all. So tired of all the old songs for f*** sake, you've got nothing else to prove, stop clinging to your greatest hits then! And what is this about her fear of not singing perfect? I'd rather have thousands of performances such as Taking Chances on the X-factor than one lipped performance. A lipped performance is way worse than no performance at all, it's like she's standing there with both middle fingers up for 3 minutes. /fred Quote Peace and love to all.
Shaun Posted August 5, 2012 at 09:54 PM Posted August 5, 2012 at 09:54 PM Strictly would be a good move for Celine this time around in the UK. Although she was good on The X Factor last time it really wasn't "her crowd" that watch that show. Strictly has a much more adult audience. It would be good promotion in the UK. I'd love to see her on a chat show as well though, potentially Graham Norton or Jonathan Ross. I haven't read a more accurate article predicting the future since.... hell I can't even remember. Celine nearly always lips her UK stuff, her TC promo was absolutely embarrassing. Only artist in An Audience With history dating back decades to lip sync. Lip-synced the divas show there, and other promos. Probably only chose this show over x-factor because she'd feel more pressure to actually do her job and sing on a singing show. Quote
J-Man Posted August 6, 2012 at 07:44 AM Posted August 6, 2012 at 07:44 AM (edited) While I'm sad to say that Celine probably will end up lip synching to her new single, That is not actually what this article is saying. Strictly's Saturday night show goes out live on BBC1. Then the results show takes place later that night in front of the same audience. But it is not broadcast untill the Sunday night. It is pre-recorded. (but aired in a style that makes viewers think it may be live) The guest artist always features in the middle of the Results show but in reality that performance is always filmed during the hour or two that the votes are being made and counted. It is then slotted into the Sunday night show, so it appears to be all done live and in one take. So if something goes wrong, or if Celine (or whoever is performing) makes a mistake, they can simply restart the performance. And that is what this article is actually eluding to. Oh, and don't worry Fred she almost certainly won't be doing any old hits. It'll just be the new single, performed while two (or more) of the professional dancers perform in front of her. There are other artists who have lip-synced their ''An Audience With...'' special. Among them there are The Spice Girls back in 1997 and Barry Manilow in 2011. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4anxFQBRhA Michael Bublé has apparently either lipped or dubbed his performances from his ''An Audience With...'' special.
