Statement regarding the raffle

i had 2 copies and gave one to one of my overseas friends so, i'm all good

I was really shocked to read all the things above what happened.

I also was in Vegas on March 2011 for the meeting and I bought a couple of raffle tickets (and donated at Jane´s account).

We had a really great time at the meeting and were very happy when we heard that Gen was the big price winner.

 

I don´t blame the forum organisers, I just know and trust them to have done the best they can.

You wouldn´t expect this to happen at all.

Maybe a little naive, yes, but I think I would have done the same because I trust the people here as real friends.

We all learnt our lesson. I think this only will make us stronger as a community.

I hope, like Jimena mentioned, we can collaborate with the RH. If all fans work together we can achieve more to make more dreams come true!

 

Gen, I feel so sorry for you. I could imagine you were looking forward to this fantastic price.

Luckily your parents get you to Vegas and I hope (but I know for sure ) that you will have a great time! Enjoy!!!

A suggestion: people have mentioned that she disappeared off Facebook. More than likely, she just blocked everyone from seeing her. I believe someone said that her husband and kids were still on facebook? Someone should message them on there and threaten legal action (or heck, don't THREATEN it, PURSUE legal action) and you might be surprised at how quickly they respond. There is no reason to let her get away with this. Contact a lawyer - heck, the forum itself could contact a lawyer - find one that will work pro bono (meaning they only get paid once the settlement goes through). The story doesn't have to end here. You CAN do something about this.

I have been looking through my raffles emails and the address of 1531 Live Oak Str, Sulphur Springs, 75482 is listed...is that her home address?

 

As it stands, it seems I paid my raffle money into her paypal account. It's one thing promising to provide a raffle prize and not delivering, but keeping the money that was meant for a good cause is theft.

 

It may be that Jane has simply forgotten to pay the money to ICDFM since it was collected. Did anyone ever ask her to do it at the time? Under the circumstances, I think the Mods or ICDFM organisers should attempt to ascertain via her family the true story, and if there is no response consider what has been suggested above.

 

I liked Jane, I actually thought she was a good person. I suspect she didn't realise how much providing the raffle prize would actually cost her financially and that's why she's disappeared. However, keeping the money that was due to go to a charity is reprehensible.

 

If Renee or Celine's team find out about using Celine's name to commit a fraud or theft, I hate to think what action they might take...possibly even against this Forum.

Yes. I have experience with blocking people on facebook unfortunately. If I block someone, then they see no evidence of me on facebook whatsoever. They cannot locate me in a search by my name. I do not come up as a mutual friend. If I comment on a mutual friend's post, the person I have blocked doesn't see it.

 

You make another good point. If Celine's team finds out that fraud was committed via someone on this forum through a raffle or contest that was sponsored on this forum, they can take legal action. (I doubt that they would do that but, yes, that is the law.)

 

Is in the forum moderators (or owners) best interests to pursue this legally to cover their own behinds.

This is getting scary I can actually see her in her husbands friends list (so i assume she has blocked ye, i was never friends with her, i dont know her at all) she needs to sort this out. you cant hide especially when you are a huge celine fan and everyone knows her. Someone will tell celine that the girl on her AND dvd from south africa is a theif, How would Jane like that? I don't see it getting ugly. It's just stating the truth. The truth of the matter is: fraud was committed against many of you (I did not take part in this raffle so it doesn't affect me at all). Legal matters could EASILY be taken against this forum and the people who run it. For them to save their own behinds, they need to keep written proof that they did everything possible to contact this "cheerful Jane" person and get the money returned and/or take legal action against her. Again, this is just a suggestion. Another suggestion is to throw your hands up/stick your head in the sand and pray that this does not get to Celine's team at all and/or that the people who bought raffle tickets/didn't get their prizes don't take legal action against this forum.

My apologies for the late reply. I've spend some time out of the country for work so I wasn't able to visit this board. As I live in Belgium there is little I can do and thus I have to admit, I haven't taken any action myself. However, my co-organizers have tried to contact her in the past and the present yet without any result (positive nor negative).

 

I am afraid that there is little I (we?) can do at this point.

 

However, like I promised I've transferred a total of 500 USD into Geni's account (this was actually my part of the grand prize) so that she has at least some spending money while being in Las Vegas.

 

 

If something happens we will let it know to everyone. In the mean time, I'm looking if a solution is possible in the (far) future.

Nothing is confirmed yet, one of our members is still working on that. We'll keep everyone posted if/when it happens.

Hi guys,

 

I'm so shocked. I just came across this issue on Facebook today. I just have no words. I haven't been on the forum in such a long time, since the Fan meeting in 2011, I think. I felt like the Celine world has changed completely and I was really frustrated with the whole thing in the end and I was sad, that the money never made it to Céline, but I really did think, that Genni got her prize. I myself didn't have a clue about what was going on with the raffle or the donations, but I surely hope the rest of the money will be donated to the foundation as soon as possible. As for Jane, I completely trusted her and didn't see any of this coming. I whole heartedly wish there was something I could do to make this up for Genni and for everyone who donated.

Wow. I just saw this only now. Legal action needs to be taken against this woman. She committed a crime. Nobody else did. She did. She promised a raffle and didn't come through with the prize. You all shouldn't be handling this with your personal finances. It's not fair to anyone.

 

Wow. That fan meeting really did shake up the community, didn't it? Thank God the show was good and I made some great friends.
