Jennifer Nettles covers 'My Heart Will Go On'

I don't really get why Celine can do endless covers of other people's songs and it's okay and everyone loves it, but when someone does a cover of her songs it's not okay and people bash it and tear the singer apart that covered it

 

I agree. I think if you put Jennifer in a studio and had her cut that song it would be AWESOME!!

I didn't like it. This song was simply not made to be a duet. And certainly not for a cheesy competition show. I always find people on these shows like AI, X Factor etc. EXTREMELY awkward when singing this song there. Duet's isnt a cheesy show and Jennifer was no where near awkward singing that song and it worked great as a duet. It really hasn't been done as one and it was a nice way to present the song in a new way after hearing the same recorded once version five thousand times.

You really want people to say that they sound good uh. Sorry, but that won't be my case. MHWGO is too classic for anyone else to touch. It just don't get as good as the original. And please, a duet? It just wasn't born to do that. Personally, it does sound very bad.

I think she just wanted to point out that there are a lot of people here, like yourself in this post, who think that MHWGO shouldn't be sung by anyone by Celine, the original is too big of a song, etc., yet Celine's next English album is going to be an album covers and nobody's saying that Celine can't do the originals justice. As everybody here was very glad about a cover album. I'm totally not the kind of psycho-fan that defends its idol, but I just can't think that such a song like MHWGO can get as good as the original in anybody voice. That's the kind of song that keep untouchable, since NO ONE made a great cover of it (maybe Sarah Brightman got closer). And well, Celine had PROVED that she can make covers as it was made specially for her. That's why she has some credits when the subject is covers...

Mmmh, I've always been critical about anyone who sing Celine's MHWGO. And to me even Celine has been awful singing it in the last years. The only one I can think who came somewhat close was Charice.

Anyway, coming back to this performance. The guy's voice is very good, sings with his heart and has very good musicality. The woman's voice is very annoying though. She just ruins everything. She sings the song like it means nothing, plus the high notes are just awful :s. Sorry...

I loved it. I think Jennifer's amazing and can sing anything, and they brought a fresh take to this song. It's not the version we're used to, which, I think, really helped. I'm sure there are a lot of us that are getting a little sick of MHWGO and it was nice to hear a version that doesn't sound anything close to the original. I think it was fantastic.

 

Also, what happened to, "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all"? It's kind of rude to just come in here and post things like, "WRONG on so many levels." I can understand being constructive about it, pointing out what you didn't think worked and what you think did, but things like that are just ridiculous.

 

 

Rediculous eh? Well that's your opinion. And my opinion was that it was wrong on many many levels and I didn't want to go and list them all because that would just have mad more people angry. I did not like the performance what so ever, it was a nice attempt. but they failed epically.

Only half the album is covers. AND Celine has been proving for a LONG LONG time that she is a beast at doing covers and she always makes them sound better than the original. I mean ABM or IACBTMN for instance.

They just covered the song a few minutes ago on the singing competition 'Duets' tonight June 20th 2012. I don't have a video of it yet but as soon as it comes up on Youtube. It was VERY good and her duet partner John landed in first place with it.

This is horrible. I don't know who these two persons are but they should have taken into consideration that they were singing a song of the legendary Celine Dion and not butcher it like this.

I believe that song shouldn't of been sung at all by ANYONE including CELINE!! That is the most horrible song I have ever heard in my life. I despize MHWGO! As for other people singing Celine's original songs well some of the people that sing the songs are IMO not to par or don't have the voice to sing her songs and that is just my opinion. Me being a fan has nothing to do with the opinion. I think you should keep in mind that not everyone is going to like Sugerland or Jennifer Nettles or whoever!! You shouldn't be bothered by people who don't think the same thing. What perfection? If I don't like the song I am not going to see it. The only good thing I can say about the song is she sings it well and duh on key. Though this is a song that drags on, and on and it's sooo incredibly sappy that it become too hard to hear. Btw I never liked the song in the first place and soo wish Celine never sang.
