Divas 2012 with Celine?

I'd love to hear Celine do one of the gorgeous sad ballads . .Didn't We Almost Have it All or All at Once -- though those are also songs I can't imagine anyone other than Whitney singing. And I Have Nothing is pretty much the ultimate power ballad.

 

But I think the perfect song for Celine would be One Moment in Time . . . because Celine also sang an Olympic theme song . .and I think this one is even better for her than the Power of the Dream . . where she has said the lyrics bothered her because there are some people for whom dreams are not enough (e.g. sick children like her niece Karine).

 

but the message of One Moment in Time . . . "when I'm more than I thought I could be" -- and the message that "each day I live . i live to be . . .the best of me" . . . Isn't that what Celine always says? That she's not in competition with anyone but herself, but she always tries to be the best of her? I think that song would be perfect for her.

I think there is a big possibility that Celine will be invited to be part of Whitney's tribute on "VH1 Divas 2012". VH1 will record the show and broadcast it on December 22, and Celine is not back in Vegas until December 28.

My God... How glad I am that this setlist is fake! I really hope Aretha doesn't perform I Have Nothing. She is a true artist, she is great, an amazingly talented performer with a lot of experience, but that song is THE song when it comes to Whitney Houston's music; it's the ultimate power ballad. Please, let Celine Dion sing it!

For everyone hoping the first set list was fake, well.... the new one just got utterly worst...the good is that it's going to be both a Donna Summer and a Whitney Tribute.... the bad is that the confirmed performers are Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Ciara, Kelly Rowland, and Jordin Sparks ..... enjoy

That is the problem with the music people listen to lately, there are no real DIVA's anymore. The direction music took is that of rap and r&b and music that is easily forgotten. And I am not even talking about the lyrics that often go in one direction, just as the videoclips..

This show has become such a joke. What started as an amazing showcase of the biggest female stars in pop/rock/R&B/country music has become more of a "who is available because the biggest names have turned us down this year so we need fillers" kind of show.

 

I remember I was a bit disappointed when they included Brandy in the second show, who I admire and respect a lot, but at the time she hadn't achieved what her peers had.

 

And now they just pick whoever is available, regarding of their career. C'mon Demi Lovato! She's great and I love "Give Your Heart A Break", possibly my favorite song of 2012, but a Diva? Hello! And don't get me started on Pitbull.

 

Sadly, the most amazing lineup: Celine, Janet, Madonna, Mariah and Whitney will never become a reality.
